Yeah I had noticed that as well. One thought I did have is it's not a code so much as the "thing" trying to interfere with his communication with outside sources?

I don't know if its imporatnt, but in the second attic tape you don't see him moving the switches, you only hear a sound. I don't think you can really move them.

Obviously he didnt like the idea that could have been him who made first tape. But to me it seems the only "naturalistic" explanation, and if it is the right one, he really needs professional help.

Who is the friend he is talking about - are we sure he has friends at all?

I suggested earlier the possibility of Matt having Multiple Personality Disorder.
It seems to fill in the gaps pretty well for the "friend" and not remembering making the videos (if that's the theory we're sticking with; I am)

When I talked to him about black outs and the likes he said he hadn't had any. Also if you recall, as he reminded me, the first tapes where found when he first moved in. The first time he went into the attic.

Now admittedly he could have recorded them in his sleep or something. But I think the game is more gearing to a supernatural explanation for everything.

Well there are some of us who still think it is a time travel thing. So he made the tapes in the future and planted them for himself in the past.

Has anyone considered that maybe Matt himself underwent psychosurgery? Maybe as a small child, since the timelines don't make sense for it to have happened recently. Could be an explanation for his random lapses in memory. Hell, maybe the surgeon was his dad or a family friend.

To be fair it does not explain the "hello?" on the attic video or the instant jump from day to night. Just wanted to throw it out there as an idea.

Just pondering - Time traveling is freaky. Suppose he traveled, let's say two months (just an example) into the future and "made" the tape, left it a bit earlier and traveled back. Now he is living his usual life, and finds the tape. Imagine in about two months he makes the same tape that already exists again... But maybe this wont happen because the future has influenced the past, so that there is no repetition.

Newcomer here. Just a few thoughts thus far :


1. From the video of him going into the attic, I DO hear music. It sounds like some old time-y western music. Like...I think of something like Tombstone and music played in the saloon or something lol.

2. I'm guessing this old man that lived in the house a long time ago, was probably sometime between the early 40's and at the very latest 1961. This comes from the fact that this guy was a "psychosurgeon"...meaning he gave lobotomies. Lobotomy hey days were during this time.

3. The video of him at the Blechertown state school - at 2:39 I distinctly hear someone say "who's that?" or something similar... sounds like a female's voice...... This sounds like a case of EVP's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_voice_phenomenon

4. Looking at the yahoo conversation - I thought it was morse code ititally. What I got as G8OB0HNHZOSOM ... thought about reversing it - mosozhnhobog8...nope lol Then tried "leet speak" .... G8=Gate... still really nothing on that. Then tried number combos to the lesser degree.... = 3, 5, 7, 9...then 1,2, 3 - CEGI then ABC effectively. Maybe a jumble?
