No you didn't. There's a secret...he's looking for a specific answer. I'll tell you in a spoiler thing because I hate people who cryptically imply that you're doing something wrong but won't tell you what when they know what the answer is.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
He wants you to say that you've never been fully in control of your life. It's pretty interesting, actually...this is the only one where I think he's really really specific about what he wants as an answer.

He is also quite specific about the final step to recovery:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I originally tweeted that I became submissive to control under Gods power. He DM'd me this:

whocontrolsyou- we're happy about your newfound sense of freedom. should you change your mind about the power governing you, just let us know about

Then I asked if I would benefit by letting fate control my life, he responded with:

whocontrolsyou- you might find that pledging to be controlled by fate can be very rewarding

Just discovered this today, after a week of disappointment from the LXD front. While it's still getting it's feet (I figure something will eventually happen when these ten episodes end, and the next begin) I thought I'd check this out.

I absolutely love Dexter, and figured out most of puzzles without the spoilers, but now it looks like I'm going to have to finally succumb and pick myself up a twitter account, after vowing not to for so long.

Curse you, intriguing and fun ARGs! You hath ruined me. ^^

Joining in the game with you guys now.

Thanks for the summary degravedi! It helps a great deal to have everything laid out, even for me, and I've been following this.

First, *great* summary post, degraviti! That will really help new players (as it helped me). Writing up the ARGN article on this now, and will certainly point to your post as a place for new users to start Smile

Thanks guys, glad to be of whatever help I can! Anyone else here think we should get a wiki going for this? Oh, thebruce... Very Happy

It was. I'm actually working on a map of this stuff right now because I am a huuuuuge nerd.

That would be totally awesome! It is a little hard to get a good sense of the space just from the photos. I also have a question, how exactly did the sleepsuperbly puzzle work? It looked like there was maybe a spot that when you stood there the letters would reflect onto each other? Just so awesome.

seems a little dangerous? I know nothing will probably happen, but the PM's seem to be taking quite a risk. People can sue anybody these days... would suck to see them get in trouble because someone is stupid. Maybe I'm just paranoid... but we all know how ARG's are.

Never thought of that! Unfortunately, it totally seems like something that could happen right! It looks like the submissions end tomorrow though so hopefully the small window will keep anything bad from happening. Not like the Dexter marketing department hasn't had enough trouble with its viral attempts: [link]. Laughing

So, now that we have the
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
audio track from the control addicts website
what are we supposed to do next?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Has anyone been able to find out the Infinity killer's victim from the information provided in the audio track?

There wasn't one specific spot. The best impression you could get was from trying to put your face near where the victim's would have been, but still, it was difficult to solve without moving around. I actually ended up there so late on the first night that I just wrote down the letters and tried to find anagrams. I was tipped off by the fact that there's a SleepSuperbly.com ad on the bottom of SerialHuntress.com...one of the many things I've learned in ARGs past: click on every link. When I went back I could see it easily, and other people figured it out that way.

Ah, that one ad campaign wasn't officially commissioned by CBS or Showtime. It still counts for something, but it was done by whoever airs Dexter in the UK...I can't remember who that is, but there you are.

Well, if it's following any sort of [META] pattern, the last round went: F8 interaction, audio prize, Serial Huntress briefing, victim identification. So we've been through the first two again (F8 interaction and prize) and the new Serial Huntress briefing comes out tomorrow, so I'd guess there's nothing else to do yet? Dunno

Did any useful clues actually come out of the last audio file or was it just extended content?

Edit: also, this has been bugging me since the beginning: what was supposedly the deal with the screws on the dentist's chair? The pictures of the victims hands don't have any screw marks. Goof? Or was Matthiew Clarke not the victim from the San Diego kill? (IE, someone else was killed there and he, already dead, was left behind afterward)

So, between me being mostly unavailable this weekend and @whocontrolsyou not being particularly snappy with his responses, it looks like I might be out of this portion. The deadline to finish the 8 steps is tomorrow, right? I'm only on 2 at this point, haha.

That's actually a really cool detail, that the "solve" was supposed to be visible from the victim's point of view. A lesser production wouldn't think of something like that.

Anyway, some more random thoughts while waiting:
I just listened to the first audio clip again, where Infinity says: "If you're trying to tell me how you've never killed anyone, don't bother. It's all semantics to me. You felt the thrill, you bought into the illusion of being the puppet master pulling the strings."
It sounds an awful lot like Infinity is following the Dexter credo in killing other bad guys. Maybe a copycat killer? The Bay Harbor Butcher was certainly big enough news and word did get out that he was only killing other killers.

The clues that come out of the audio tend to make sense...after you already know the answer. In the first audio, he talks about killing someone/semantics, which makes sense if you consider his victim "took" a life (in this case, he stole someone else's identity). What we're thinking at the Serial Huntress boards is that the victim who matches this audio has something to do with control and/or addiction, and that's why he was selected.

As to the screws, they were there to keep Clarke's hands confined. They never punctured his actual skin.

Augh, two posts in a row on my part. Well...I do need my post count up.

Anyway, I think the idea, which I touched on in my last post but that was before I saw this comment, is his reference to the identity theft that the victim committed. It wasn't that this victim had necessarily murdered someone, but if your name is your life (@urnameurlife), and he took and destroyed a man's name, he destroyed his life. I think that's what's with the remark about "semantics." Maybe he didn't kill Boris Gouza with his own two hands, but he did take his life, so to speak. We don't know what happened to Boris Gouza, either, if he just stopped posting things online...is he dead, or did he just give up online? If dead, was he murdered? Did he kill himself? (Some of us were thinking that maybe he did.)

Argh, same. I'm going to my boyfriend's for the weekend so I'll follow along as best I can (he's a Dexter fan too so he should be okay with that Wink )

I only just completed step two, so is there any way those of you who've completed the steps can post the audio file?
