Just for fun...similarities between Cloverfield and Super8
I know it's not Cloverfield, just sounds so close.

I was just going back through all the old Cloverfield things and looking through HLM again and I just think it's so funny how close the two creatures seem. It almost sounds like the only difference at this point is that the creature in Super 8 came from space while the creature in Cloverfield woke up from the ocean. The Wolffish on Minker's site inspired this random for fun post.

haha

I was thinking the same thing. Like how it is only aggressive if brought out of its environment and what not. I'm almost disappointed this isn't Cloverfield 2, because if it is as close as it sounds to being like Cloverfield with all the sea talk and what not, it shows me a lack of creativity.

Well, perhaps the Super8 PMs are the PMs of Cloverfield. Or of Star Trek. Or both. Because I also see some similiarities. I mean, if they aren't, so please, dear PMs, forgive me this, when you read it Wink

Anyway (for the stand of today)

Cloverfield ~ Super8
Slusho and Poppeteers (frozen sweets)
Monster or Creature in background of the story
popular product as central story object
...

Star Trek ~ Super8
chat communication (non-interactive) - email/printout-communication (non-interactive)
pc-console and interactive systems
...

Actually, the interactivity aspect makes me think about Dharma Wants You with all those community efforts. And DWY makes me think about the financial support of the ARG campaign for Super8. This time it isn't abc. Is it privately supported by producers? If they want to keep the story till next year perhaps?

P.S. I wonder, if Coop's voice is by Greg Grunberg Very Happy

A 'smurfing' violation of ToS

This thread would be much more interesting if it didn't start with the same person posting as different people with guest IDs.

Ahem:

Well deege79, if you have a problem with posting under your registered ID either let an Administrator know why you can not log in. Otherwise, you are in blatant violation of ToS.
The matter is already being brought up with the Administration.

I'm sure you will all be horrified to know I've never actually seen Cloverfield all the way through.

I've tried twice...

I sat through it at the cinima and listened to the whole thing - I just can't watch it!!

That shakey hand held camera style made me feel like travel sick or something.
