AMBLIN'
Spielberg's FIRST film (1968)

I just want you all to see what I saw back when I was just a kid!

"La video est de mauvaise qualité quelques fois on ne voit rien du tout, mais c'est pas grave parce que ce sont les débuts d'un jeune réalisateurs qui as eu du mal à confirmer par la suite..."

Steven Spielberg's first theatrical short film: AMBLIN'

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4378828308366060201#

Notice:
a) The cinematography is ASTOUNDING!
b) The scene where they are spitting olive seeds!
c) Zero dialog!
d) Marijuana (trippy) sequence!
e) Poignancy!

Very charactocentric - No dialogue and really beautiful use of body language/facial expressions to convey sub-text.

... Intriguing....

Thank you for posting!

What I found very apropos was the book.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Among his things in the guitar case was the book The City and the Stars by A. C. Clarke.

Thank you for posting it.
Btw. is it only me, or she looks like Kate from LOST?

I like this naive cinematography, especially knowing it will be the great Spielberg. Very Happy

I'm glad that you have all had a chance to see this!

My mom used to take me (and my brother & Sister) to a Church/Library Theatre which showed mostly short films, like: The Red Balloon, Paddle To the Sea, White Mane and many others!
Reference Link

I learned a LOT from the films I saw, and each time I saw one I had a new favorite! Amblin' stuck out in my mind for many years, so much so that I bought a 16mm print of it (ordered from a local library while in college).
(all my sh!t got destroyed in a house fire - sucks)
I also had copies of David Lynch's Grandmother, Dali's Un Chien Andalou, Cameron's Xenogenesis, as well as many others.

I used to make Super 8mm movies as a kid, and would sync the film with audio cassette recordings (I also made Smile) to the delight of my parents and friends.

Take a look-see @ this: http://www.lavideofilmmaker.com/blog/2009/06/26/james-camerons-short-film-xenogenesis/

As a foreshadowing of a brilliant director's future achievements, Xenogenesis is right up there with Steven Spielberg's 26-minute film Amblin.

The Internet was not around when I was young ... we had our own ways of spreading information "virally."
