I just about never use a browser window less than maximized. What I have not yet seen done all that well is a fullscreen browser.

Disney/Pixar have taken to a similar approach in their animated features. Since Finding Nemo with Pixar and as far back as The Lion King with Disney's more traditional animation, they made the important action and content happen in a 4:3 frame, but create enough panorama of content to fill the cinematic and HDTV widescreen aspect ratios. Basically, nobody loses.

Hi everybody. My first post here but i've been reading through all the posts since the trailer.

I wonder why no one noticed that (i've read all 6 pages and searched for it)

On the "legacy screen" there is a spaceship passing by and it is obviously Vostok 1 - the Jurij Gagarins ship . Since the whole popeteers thing is so pro-american - why they used russian spaceship there ? or is it red cozmo?

This would be consistent with the Cold War/Space Race era of the early 60s, which is the decade the original STIES newspaper clips refer to in Kennedy's speech. Can't have a race without at least two competitors.

I don't know if Vostok is related directly to Red Cozmo, but I'd expect the character to figure in at some point.

Looks like a Sputnik to me.

I also notice when the screen on the ship first goes up, if I move my mouse left and right the planets move the same way - like I am steering the rocket almost.

When we accessed this page initially it did exactly that. RP took it down though. Then they added it again officially or whatever. The problem is that to see some of the messages you have to use the scroll bar and once you do the mouse no longer reacts with the page.

yep, good point about their design. I bet all the designers have large monitors, but they're good designers so they know to write it to work on all monitors.

I've been viewing on a 24" at 1920x1080.

Indeed, widescreen ratios have become increasingly popular. For a while now studios have been releasing movie wallpaper designs in both standard and widescreen sizes. Nice to see site designers exploiting it as well, while keeping everything operable for standard screens.

The PMC windows has changed, they added
"Sorry, kids!
Rocket Poppeteers Astronauts Only!"

Nothing else has changed. But I did get a different transmission sound when I lit up every button to solid green, lit all the beige lights to white, and flipped all the switches (raised the covers, then switched them). I'm doing it again with IE so I can listen to it clearly. This flash runs like CRAP in firefox. I'm running a Q9550 quad core, and all four cores go up to 60%! I did it again on the ground, and didn't get the message. It said something about "ready for blast off, Sierra Bravo..."

There are 18 white buttons, 18 green buttons, 9 amber lights, 5 red lights.

I didn't realize that was a change. I remember seeing that last night during the Minker update and not thinking much of it. I really hope we can start our first mission soon.

Maybe I got them mixed up at original save. Oops.

The most I can get out of the one transmission, I can only get it once per flash site load, it comes up randomly, not dependent on my actions:

"GARBLED still hungry? maintain trajectory,
Here, Sierra Bravo?
prepare for blastoff at T-10" along with another launching sound. I'm not sure about the word "Here", though.

cearanissa mentioned this one first, but I figured out the word where she got static:
Also, "We have an inculcation in in Bravo Tango Delta"

inculcation: teaching or impressing upon the mind by frequent instruction or repetition

That one seems a bit odd.

Now, this one was posted by slinkydge, but I've never heard this one, has anyone else?

"Groom Lake One, Wright-Patt [SITREP?] ETA. Over."
"Wright-Patt, Groom Lake One actual. Cargo intact, ETA on schedule."
"Copy Groom Lake One, expect your..."
"OH MY GOD."

How did you get it, slinkydge? Wright-Patt is Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH (my wife works there, I'm in Dayton)

"Group, we are clear to launch probe, data drop-out minimal."

When the green screen slides down, and back up, it sounds like something like "Notice That" in a robotic voice. Can anyone capture that?

Now I don't know what you all haven't done at this point, but I was wondering if anyone had equipment to mess with the sounds from the button pressing on the ship console a little bit? Like encrypting or whatever, because I heard some pretty interesting sounds. Keep us posted.

This is from the trailer. Its what the train engineer and some other guy were saying right before the ol' yellow truck that starrted it all crashed into the train. XD

    1.
alpha bravo, inbound is optimal over
    >proceede with your mission

    2.
    >We have a altercation at bravo tango delta, please confirm visual/fuel contact

    3.
    >Coop you are clear to launch probe, data dropout minimal

"Altercation" would be a link to Cloverfield

Couldn't hear the audio myself, but this transcript really rang a bell for me. You say "altercation", which instantly reminded me of Cloverfield ARG, when Tagruato Corp. issued the following statement:

"There has been an altercation at the Chaui Station."

This headline referred to the monster attacking an oil platform. So what is the "altercation" about this time?
