mlssry: My source for the location was this page. Yours seems to be to be more definitive, so I will gladly update my map. Incidentally, I may start using your map entirely. It is an excellent map that I had not seen before.

Crow's Nest

Tweeted by Mulligan:

@sodoffbuggers I have ANOTHER way to escapes a crowdy room--Ya go up in the Crows Nest!!! #welostourgold

I wonder if that is a clue...it is in response to the Captain's tweet:

#PirateTip 28: Fastest way ta escapes a crowdy room- A cannon. But don' shoot said cannon; roll said cannon over them blokes crowdin' ye.

Any thoughts?

That is the best one I could find that shows the paths and where they go over or under each other (and it's the only one I've seen that lists Wallach Walk).....I think that's important here because I think the footprint clue means to trace where you would actually walk(atleast while we're in CP) If the lines we walk end up being a picture of some sort making sure we went on the correct paths makes a huge difference in the end result.

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to walk from Shakespeare and Columbus to get to the Dairy.

I think they are just references to the video.
the captain seems to enjoy shootin' maimin' and general mayhem directed towards his crew.
Mulligan like the crowsnest, which in later episodes may come to mean something bigger but for now it's just for character development and color.

Here is a map on google that I made to show where I THINK I'd walk if I were going from location to location and where I think Wallach Walk is in blue. Don't mind the other locations I pinned....just saving them incase I need them later. Hope my link works this time Smile

Here is the updated map using mlssry's great map as a base. As you can see from the legend, two lines are drawn, the blue showing the route from landmark directly to landmark, and the red showing the route taken if sticking to the walkways and paths in the park. Obviously, there is some leeway in which path can be taken to get to each landmark.

I Wandered Around Central Park Yesterday!

I went and checked everything out in Pentral Cark yesterday afternoon for a few hours. I randomly ran into a few of my friends who have joined in on this hunt, too!

I know everyone is debating the location of Wallach Walk and according to this site, it's immediately visible upon leaving the Children's Zoo. I understood that to mean the pathway to the right of the Children's Zoo entrance and it kind of matches the picture (but so could a bunch of places in the park) but there were no children's entertainers out yesterday so I could be wrong.

At the fork in the path after what I believed to be Wallach Walk, I took the left fork and headed toward Balto. Nothing really up there except parents and kids taking pictures. I even staked out the statue while I ate my lunch just to see if any sneaky pirates came by. There were some ID photos of teenagers taped to a tree, but it looked like kids messing around more than anything.

After closely monitoring a metal statue, I found a few friends and we trekked off to Shakespeare and Columbus. Here's the thing - Cape Shakes makes sense. Ol'Shakey is wearing a cape in his statue. Chris Columbus, however, is neither on a rock or is made out of a rock. Unless the pirates were describing the marble pedestal he sat upon? But then why describe something Shakey was wearing? Maybe I'm reading too much into it but I feel like the difference in the clues is something important.

Also, the Cap'm said "after a cave we went between Cape Shakespeare and Columbus Rock" up until now, we've (hah, we, I only joined this board yesterday) all agreed that this was the direction to lead us to the Dairy. But what is actually between Shakey and Chris? The Olmstead Flowerbed. I dunno if it's important at all but I figured I'd look at a literal application of the clue just to see if anything made more sense. It didn't.

Then it was on to the Dairy, where they do not sell ice cream. Nor does it appear that they ever sold ice cream. So is the Dairy the correct interpretation of the clue? Had The Cap'm not said "Dairy" prior to the "I ated the iced cream" would we have gone to the Dairy? I have no idea. I can't think of anywhere to purchase ice cream in the park other than those carts, but it was suggested yesterday during our trip that the Cap'm may have meant the Ballfields Cafe adjacent to the dairy where we assumed cold treats are sold. But that puts it out of order since the Cafe comes after the Chess and Checkers House on the pathway, so I doubt my own theory.

After that, we wandered over to the Heckscher Ballfields and Playground area and discussed what we could have missed. Essentially, we decided on not much. But here are my new speculations:

1) Crows nest and 48 armies should be read together as one clue. The Chess and Checkers House is the highest point that I could see in the immediate area and we weren't "allowed" into the hut at the top of the hill, only the tables were open to the public.

2) We're still missing something from the first video. Not a clue per se, but the hint as to how everything is supposed to come together.

3) There is nothing to actually learn from the first video. It's just teaching us how the other 7 will function. We were purposefully sent to the one place they've been adamant about the treasure not being buried so why not use it as a training video?

4) The flashbacks contain clues that are as of yet undeciphered.

5) The waterfall is emblematic of the stones in Central Park that appear to have been eroded by running water.

6) We're meant to decipher the Black Tom clues now because they won't be repeated in the second video.

Thanks for posting that! I don't know how to make lines on that map, only on google. That shows exactly what I was trying to get. Thanks Smile

Since the hunt has started in Central Park, although I do think this is just the starting point and will sooner or later exit CP and lead to a new location. I've been looking up some of the rules posted for NYC parks. Apparently, you can dig in certain parks, or certain areas within a park, but you do need a permit. You also need a permit to use a metal detector within any NYC park, and again their use is only permitted in certain areas. Iirc, while doing another hunt several years ago, it was discovered that Federal/National parks do not allow digging without a permit, but state parks carried different rules and the items were all hidden in state parks. I'm not sure how it was determined that state parks had rules that allowed their use.

What does any of this mean? No kloo, just something to remember before you go digging up some park. Hmm, I wonder if you can check past permits, from lets say, last November.

Maybe Wallach does start up where you had it before....that way you'd pass the Morse statue and then the Morris statue on your way to Balto?

Hi, just popping in. I'm Spoonsy, I'm new here, and I'm an unemployed Brooklyn native, so I'm willing to serve as a gopher should the need arise. This seems to be the only active WLOG forum I can find, so I figured I'd introduce myself and volunteer my services and my MetroCard.

Also, just pure speculation here, but the treasure is probably going to be found in Northern Brooklyn, as that's probably where the puppeteers live.

Thinking out loud with some questions I have....
What does Maddie Hayes mean? Is it from the show Moonlighting? Is it for presidents Madison and Hayes? Is it for Madison Ave. and something else for Hayes? Is it some kind of word play? Hattie Mayes?
What is Mulligans Pentral Cark and Belly Jeans clues trying to show us if anything? Anagrams or something similar?
Does Tutty have any meaning?
Are the numbers for the lamposts or for something else like subway cars? In the "The Idea" video there is a shot of a subway car with a four digit number.
What is Mulligans window sele clue showing us? se le in spanish is "is"
Sell in spanish is "vendor", there are lots around CP? Win-dow-sell....stocks? Yeah I'm reaching here Smile

What are the finger cuffs for? Are they a clue to something? Why are they the same color as the flag? Does the flag have meaning?

Why does the octopus on the chest have 6 legs not 8?
Does Johnny Longbottoms mean anything?
Does Crayola mean anything?
Old Crayola factory?

I really like this idea! It seems too difficult for this hunt though, every subway car has these 4 digit numbers on them. I think I'll look into it a bit more, maybe it indicates the 6 train? I dunno. But I do think you're on the right track thinking outside of Pentral Cark!

Edit: I looked it up and 6323 is the only number that corresponds to a subway car.

http://www.nycsubway.org/perl/show?83406

The other numbers which do fall in the range of available subway car numbers are disqualified because they are ODD and the cars are only numbered with even numbers. At least in the low 6000s, anyway[/url]

Only thing I (google/wikipedia) can think of is a Dave Mathews song of the same name that was performed in 2003 after a 5 year absence. This was on the Park's Great Lawn, which is north of where the map has taken you so far.
