Then it was on to the Dairy, where they do not sell ice cream. Nor does it appear that they ever sold ice cream. So is the Dairy the correct interpretation of the clue? Had The Cap'm not said "Dairy" prior to the "I ated the iced cream" would we have gone to the Dairy? I have no idea. I can't think of anywhere to purchase ice cream in the park other than those carts, but it was suggested yesterday during our trip that the Cap'm may have meant the Ballfields Cafe adjacent to the dairy where we assumed cold treats are sold. But that puts it out of order since the Cafe comes after the Chess and Checkers House on the pathway, so I doubt my own theory.

Mulligan says that he does not remember eating any ice cream. Maybe that's because they don't sell it there.

The ball player's house code ("Luckiest Man Alive") comes between the Shakespeare/Columbus code and the Dairy and/or ice cream code. So the route does go that way before the checkers/chess house The numbers, if they do belong in this episode and do mean the lamposts, come between the ball player's house and the Dairy/ice cream and are located near the ballfields.

New to the forum but not to the search.

It's true that everything could be a code, but not that everything is...I'm not sure about the luckiest man alive bit here...Maybe when we get to Yankee Stadium area.

I went from Balto to Columbus/Shakespeare to the Dairy to the Chess/Checkers House to the shoe drawing (the outline of the paths around the ballfields and playgrounds) to the next line about climbing to the top deck and riverdancing...

Kept going straight (or close) unless there was an instruction to turn...

..and then on to the last (I think) clue.

Good hunting all.

Visual Clues

Don't recall having read any commentary on these two visual clues:

1) The obvious arrow (smile) below the two circle eyes on the wooden statue that Black Tom beheads with his Katana..

2) The framed item behind Mulligan as he stands at the "Window Sill" it says something like HOME ? HOME

Hey Kook,

I watched the video on high resolution...

1) the arrow I think it just points to Tom. There is a dark area on the side of the "face" but even at 720p there is no way to make it out as anything other than a "dark area"

2) I think the Home (Sweet?) Home is a framed picture of the boat, the Maddie Hayes.

Maddie Hayes... I don't think it is a clue (although I like the point that someone brought up about other statues in the Mall of Central Park).

If you want to be crazy about it: Maddie could refer to Madison Square Park. Which contains a statue of Chester Alan Arthur! Who was pressured to resign as the customs collector of the Ports of New York by none other than... President Hayes!

Yeah I don't think so either. But it's fun to go down the rabbit hole when the rabbit hole is lined with tasty nuggets of history. Yum.

ooh, good point good point.

As to your second point: wouldn't that still mean we're walking the clues out of order? If it was S/C statues, Ballfields, THEN dairy? Its kind of hard to go from the statues to the fields, then back up to the dairy, then back down to the C&C House.

I agree! Also, I do think it's a needlepoint of their ship, as a cute decoration.

LVIN, I think you definitely have the right idea. That's how I went about it, too, but I struggled on the Riverdance clue and have been trying to figure out how to get to my final destination.

The search continues!

Gotta go there and see what you can see from the Chess/Checkers House...don't think about the destination, just go up to the top deck and think about Riverdancing. After that, just one more instruction from the captain (or not: it might be a meta-clue to be used later

Stacey--I'm going to try to retrace everything this weekend (basically for kicks; I think Sunday's message will prove whether I'm on the right track) Did you go and look? Anything I missed?

LVIN,

rather than wait for both of us to set up an account, can you email me at SyesenosSPLATbu.edu?

I'll be in Boston when the final video comes up. But, I'm a native new yorker and i think you've got the right idea.

What is the ballpark clue some of you are talking about? Is it the lamp posts being close by there or something else?
