FYI for the folks who were having cache problems on refreshing... Here's a good read:

Though, for most of us, it's enough to just remember [Ctrl]+[F5].

Here is mine....
Quote:

You are in a brown room, standing on a thin rug. In front of you is a wooden door. To your left is an old rocking chair. To your right is a kitchen table large enough for two, with two small chairs at either end. On the right wall are a sink and one cabinet. On the back wall are a gas oven and a horseshoe hanging on a hook. On the left wall are a twin-sized bed, a nightstand with a burnt-out candle, and a wooden dresser.

You notice that the wooden door is covered in numbers.

[INSERT LARGE MASSIVE AMOUNT OF BINARY HERE]

which translates to....
Quote:
Welcome to Transition Village! This is the abandoned Farmer's House. You have a purpose here; try to figure out what it is. There are ghosts, so stay on guard. If you see other travelers along the way, be sure to say hello! Any changes you make to the town are permanent until someone else changes them, so please be considerate... and careful.

I didn't play TVI or II, and I don't know whether this was like the last 2 but are we supposed to respond in a Zork like way????

Due to high interest, your name has been placed on a waiting list to enter Transition Village. Expect to arrive in a location as soon as one becomes available. Thank you for your beautiful poetry. The Governor was quite pleased and has spent the entire week in high spirits. We hope to see you soon. In the meantime, feel free to communicate with the village through our newspaper.

Got this today. Hopefully that means I'll be able to enter at some point.

My response:

Quote:
Stretching my legs as I wander around the room, I translate the massive amount of numbers on the door into English. "So, I'm in the Physician's house," I mumble to no-one in particular. "This should be interesting."

I mosey around the room looking for anything that could be useful on my journey. I check inside the sink cabinet and dresser while avoiding stepping on the red rug (who knows if it's naturally red? He was a physician after all). I wander over to the bed and check underneath, and then have a looksee inside the oven just in case there's anything in there. You never know where people might hide things.

@Everyone who got the 'waiting list' email, last time there were a few job offers of sorts put out on the Transition Times blog during the game. This initial part might not be the only way you can enter; I entered in response to a post about finding lost pets, and some others responded to a post about tracking someone down. This game might be different entirely, especially after the message from Mr Pistolsniffer.

My turn:

Quote:
I blink my eyes in disbelief. I can't believe the Governor has lent me his motorcar. What a sweet ride. I lovingly run my fingers over the elaborately carved wooden dashboard. Real wood. The kind that grows on trees.

I turn around to check the back seat again because... well, I've heard that ghosts sometimes do that thing where they hide in the back seat and wait until you're driving to scare the living beans out of you. Or was that axe murderers? Either way, can never be too careful. I glance over to the left at the well. I've heard bad things about wells too, really bad things. I know I should investigate it, but I think about the rumors swirling around this place--the ghosts, the dragons, the pies. I fidget with my standard issue reporters notebook, empty pages staring blankly at me, and sigh.

"What kind of crappy reporter are you, Jane?" I say to myself out loud. "Grow some cahones!"

I didn't.

Instead, I stall. I adjust the mirrors, I move the seat, I tilt the wheel. And then, I open up the glove compartment....

Well I classify my response as a fail, even if it is my first "move" in any TV, so here goes something
Quote:
So, the abandoned farmer's house, maybe the "Turd" in my name was taken a little too seriously. Oh well, time to investigate this quaint little building, Yikes! man there is a ton of dust in here, this takes abandoned to a whole new level. First place obviously to check is under the bed, ghosts, beds, it just makes sense. Hmmm, there has to be something.... nothing on the table and that candle is, well a burnt candle, is a burnt candle so nothing there. Man this room just seems so normal I have checked almost everywhere.

ooooo! maybe there is something underneath of that table, nope, god there just doesn't seem to be anything, and those numbers told me I needed to figure out what this was, honestly I just don't see anything at all, and now there are only two things left to look at, that old nightstand, and that cabinet.

C'mon! I am completely stumped, of course this is what I get for my first time in the village, well I give u-......

The rug.

It...it has to be the rug, it is the only logical reason of what this really is!! I need to see what is under that rug

I lift up the rug....

I honestly think it is horrible but I'll see what tomorrow brings

You are in a dark room, standing on a torn rug. In front of you is a wooden door. To your left is an old, wicker chair. To your right is a kitchen table large enough for two, with two small chairs at either end. On the right wall are a sink and one cabinet. On the back wall are a gas oven and two hooks with nothing on them. On the left wall are a twin-sized bed, a nightstand, and a wooden dresser.

You notice that the wooden door is covered in numbers.

Which translates to

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Welcome to Transition Village! This is the abandoned Blacksmith's House. You have a purpose here; try to figure out what it is. There are ghosts, so stay on guard. If you see other travelers along the way, be sure to say hello! Any changes you make to the town are permanent until someone else changes them, so please be considerate... and careful.

And my first turn:

Quote:
I gaze at the wooden door trying to decipher the script, after a few moments I begin to translate the code into text. "Welcome to Transition Village! This is the abandoned Blacksmith's House. You have a purpose here; try to figure out what it is. There are ghosts, so stay on guard. If you see other travelers along the way, be sure to say hello! Any changes you make to the town are permanent until someone else changes them, so please be considerate... and careful."

'Abandoned Blacksmith's House' I think to myself, 'I wonder what purpose I have to fulfill here'
Pausing a moment, I examine the rest of the inscription 'Ghosts to worry about, a purpose to fulfill and changes are permanent. I will have to be cautious.'

Taking the warning into account I begin to examine the room, careful to check and listen for any ghosts that might be lurking around.

'I assume there is a reason I am here in this Blacksmith's House, let's see what I can find'

A few moments examining the wicker chair shows a fine craftsmanship and pulls on some childhood reference to a similar chair tho it is not likely connected I still smile. The table seems fairly standard and nondescript so I examine it briefly and move to the sink and cabinet, examining both for anything that may assist me in determining my purpose here, or anything that may be of use while I am in Transition Village. After examining the sink and cabinet I move to look at the nightstand and search the dresser for any useful items before settling down in a chair at the kitchen table to review what I have learned and found.

Unless there are objections, I'm going to try to keep an eye on all y'all thru this:

https://docs.google.com/drawings/edit?id=1xvxnANdpKFJRQtaOl2hu08vtIhkizm0hKnI55_wBTLY&hl=en

Of course, I have no concept of the actual geography of TV, but it'll sort itself out I'm sure.
