Cannon shot direction

Anyone notice that the first video got 11,000 views, yet the second only had 1,500?

Also - Nigel&Gibson say they're firing their aft cannon at the Maddie Hayes, which they are supposedly chasing. Eveerything else is painfully well thought out, is this just to make the banter sound better or some quite opaque clue?

Whoa there

Can we agree to refrain from making claims about having already having figured this all out? It doesn't add much, and is highly unlikely, regardless. This is going to be a long haul which we are only 1/4 through, and there is no doubt we are being fed themes which shall be relevant later.

There are larger questions that should be pressing on peoples minds: crows nest, obviously; Tutty; the potato reference: french fries, ok, but then what?

'Tis Fellowtraveller that be saying it's their aft cannon. To me it sounds more like they be sayin' their lapped cannon.

11,000 --> 1,500
quality of videos

All I know is that to my amateur eye the quality and detail of the videos is outstanding -- I think these folks have a long and exciting career ahead of them. When Mulligan seems to be hand signalling, you feel compelled to learn sign language just based on his nuanced look and slight differences in how he handles his hands.

Ok, so, any clue as to what a "lapped" cannon might be, and how it relates?

Indeed. I am very impressed with the production quality. The various media, the numerous audio tracks, the writing. During the course of this hunt we have to try to not make too many mountians out of the plethora of molehills we are presented with (i.e., my aft cannon thing) as, I believe at least, that their prime interest here is creating a platform to showcase their talents rather than weaving too intractable a web of trickery and surprises. If the riddles become too convoluted people will stop watching (hence the need I felt to point out how viewership seemed to not be as strong for #2 as #1) and their efforts will be for naught.

Fair Enough

Fair enough Willy. But if I am right, I will be saying I told you so, and you owe me a cheeseburger.

Any other nerds out there like me?

"Maddie Hayes" is an annagram for (seemingly) a million other phrases, but a few of the potentially interesting ones are:

"Me Shady idea"
"Amid Hay Seed"
"A Dam Hides Ye"
"Amid Ye Shade"

It will be interesting to see if there are other future words spelled out on screen (I was disappointed that there were none in the first episode).

Captain ordered to shoot the cannon to SSW, but it ended up aiming backwards. Does anyone think this means something or is it just a cute joke?

I have a question about the map fellowtraveler:
how did you decide to end the first map at the Chess and Checkers House? We know there is more after that on the video - the part about riverdancing off the deck.

I have to agree these videos are really well done! My only issue has been with hearing some of the audio clearly, but that could just be my computer.

The videos are very clever and well done.

rose: I only plot points on my maps for clues that seem to be solidly verified, or where there is a strong consensus on the forum about a clue. I'm not convinced that the first episode has any solid clues after the "48 armies" clue. In any event, I haven't seen any explanations of such clues which would also form a logical continuous path between the connecting clues.

Anyway, without any explanations as to directions or locations to plot, how exactly would I reflect such clues on the map?

Ah ok! I thought perhaps I had missed something about the first episode. Your method of making the map is certainly the best approach.

Panzone: welcome here!! I suggest you learn to search a bit. If you search for the name fellowtraveler, you can get a link to all of his posts. Going through them, you can easily find a link to the map. Alternatively, you can scroll back a few pages to locate it. This way you can find the map using your own initiative.

Ordinarily I would just do the work for you and post the link here too, but I am on my way to sleep now, I have to get up at 4:00 am tomorrow, and don't have time. I do know that you can find it.

We are working on getting a wiki set up for this game. I'm not sure when it will be ready but once that is up, it should help greatly with organization.
