sculptor of Rushmore did first sculpture bought by Met.
it was Mares of Diomedes (suggestive of Iron Horses)

Perhaps someone when next at the Met could give me the GPS location of the statue. Thanks.

MADDIE HAYES - Somewhere Over The Rainbow
key to gold coins

In the episode starring Maddie Hayes involving a pot of gold, there was some deception and what really ended up leading to the treasure was a key -- that opened up a locker at the airport.

First Maddie Hayes (and Bruce Willis) dug up the cache of gold coins on the other side of the bridge -- because that's where you hide one's gold (over the Rainbow). They were driving by and their client saw a rainbow and yelled something like "Stop the car!" The rainbow, of course, was a beautiful bridge (rainbows btw, of course, have all the spectrum of colors).

But then it was dug up and after a wild chase and some deception, was represented by a key.

Now if only there was a Rainbow Bridge somewhere. :0)

So when the best pirate refers to his screen name in Japanese as not the key -- well, he's right. Perhaps it's not the key.

Now What Happened At Midnight has the Hardy Boys lost in Central Park.
I can only imagine what would have happened if they got on the subway. Smile

Port Of Courtland(t)
Near Prospect Park and maybe(not sure) can see those docks

ok, it bothered me that the 'X' on the port of courtland knocking #5 out(or marking it with an X) has gone unsolved here. I love following with you all and find it intriguing that there is a port(wine) of courtlandt which is sold at A&J wine and Liquer on Nostrandt and this place has a small vinyard ...
it is not far from the multiple (5) docks that are found just above prospect park.

I think Maddie Hayes is an end clue(ass end of ship) and possibly the most important clue. This one sticks in my head.

again, I wonder if X marks the spot to the next location rather than eliminating it(#5) from the list. Next stop above that on the lines (Ooops: RED and GREEN and this is not related to Marios' color-but rather the captains ) is Kingston. There are not 5 docks here though.....or at Nostrandt. But It may be possible to see them. from these locations..just tossing in what I found. Idea

Port of Cortland

Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall has 4 tracks, plus one unused 'turnaround' track. What's interesting about this station is that its under the NYC court buildings, making it a "Port of Court-land."

You can get on the 'blue' line train a short walk away but you have to leave the system and then go back in. Not sure if the pirates want us to pay for transfers or not.

the other Rainbow Bridge
Thomas Pope planned the famous Rainbow Bridge (before Brooklyn Bridge)

There is a novel called BROOKLAND from 2009 that is award-winning that describes the effort to building THE RAINBOW BRIDGE from Manhattan to Brooklyn. Query whether the author, Ms. Barton, is a sister of one of the puppeteers.

So under one interpretation of the MADDIE HAYES clue, it points to the Brooklyn Bridge Park. I could use some company digging in the sand at Pier 6. Three weeks of digging in the sand is quite enough! :0)

I totally agree with you about the X's in this episode. However I also think that the puppetmasters have been teaching us how to look at their episodes for clues. The X's (X-ing out the number 5, The Chinese Star on Larry King's shoulder, eXclusive as the second word in the ticker) are just there to alert us that they'll be marking the treasure with an X and these are its many manifestations.

About Cort, so among the huge list of things it could be, it is also the Cort Theater at 49th Street which is accessible by the B or the D (one stop away from Columbus Circle). It was named after John Cort who had playhouses in Seattle, Portland and San Francisco.
Quote:
The venue's initial production was Peg o' My Heart (1912)
So dump that unto the potential clue list for Cort of Portland.

About the word "old". There is a 100 year old subway entrance to the columbus circle station but I think it's under construction. It's in the middle of a traffic island right next to the unisphere. I've used it many times before but it was before they started the construction (long time ago!) so I don't remember if there is any mosaic work down there or not relating to this cat in a tree business in the ticker.

About Dinkins. Yes he was the Major, but also Columbus Circle was also referred to as Dinkins Circle in an old NYTimes article.

About the Pittsburgh directions. So initially thought they meant Penn Station because at one time there was a train that stopped there from Pittsburgh, however I now think that it's just a very elaborate way of telling us, "Hey, we're giving you directions in this episode."

Ok, there are my two cents. By the way, I tried to go to the station but because of all the MTA cutbacks, there was no one working the booth and I could not use the handicap access to go in with the baby stroller. So I got frustrated (like a good New Yorker) and left. I'll try again tomorrow when it's not so warm.

Another aside, you all are super smart. Worshippy

PORT OF CORTLAND
I prefer guest Mike's brainstormed interpretation of Port Cortland

In terms of overall feel -- getting in the mind of these Brooklyn puppeteers -- even though Fafa is a big computer game player, I like guest Mike's brainstormed interpretation over my earlier one involving the five docks Apple OS-X operating system.

What kind of computer, btw, is Fafa pictured using?

How about some photo recon of Brooklyn Bridge Park in trade for photos in environs of RAINBOW BRIDGE in Central Park?

rocketdocketSPLATrocketmail.com

I envision a fully viewable 440 page blurb.com combining everyone's photos on-the-ground.

Hasty pudding googles as 2 things.

First, an actual pudding.

Second, as a revered drag theatre group at Harvard. Not kidding.

Hasty Pudding!
Connection to Teddy Roosevelt

Ok, weird. While at Harvard (where the Hasty Pudding club is), Teddy Roosevelt was a member of the Porcellian Club or P.C. (Port of Cortland?)

And of course, the Roosevelt Avenue station was always the best candidate for "5 docks" in my opinion. Roosevelt also gave a speech at the next stop over, the Forest Hills one.

I think its fairly obvious now that we're supposed to be on the E train, heading east. What's unfortunate is that there's not a lot of interesting stuff out there.

President Presence

I'm new here, I've been reading the thread every other minute at work and regarding mulligans tweet-- 5 U.S. presidents participated in Hasty Puddings.. John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR and JFK.

In the FAQ, puppeteers say "our favorite is John Quincy Adams." They also say you can see all 10,000 coins in the videos. The new $1 coin program will feature all of the U.S. Presidents and it began in 2007. I'm just relaying some thought that I've been pondering, but I feel we should keep looking out for the 'President Presence'. If anything, maybe they are a way of saying that's the right place to be.

The Hasty Puddings club counts five U.S. Presidents (John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy) among its noteworthy members.

Probably not important but I thought it was interesting that the man who created the Hasty pudding block cipher is listed as having a Erdős number of 2. A Erdős number is similar to a Bacon number (6 degrees of separation). There is even a Erdős-Bacon number. I think it's interesting because not only has Mulligan mentioned Hasty Pudding , he has also said Happy Birthday to Kevin Bacon on his twitter page. Cool

I know this team seems to have dismissed the ticker, but I want to point out one thing.

The ticker leads everyone to Pittsburgh and the Monroeville Mall.

Just for giggles, go google map "Pittsburgh Expo Mart" (which is specifically called out at the end of the directions) and zoom ALLLLLL the way in where the pushpin is (given by the letter "A") , and tell everyone what you see...

Also - please note that there's no such thing as the Rockinson Hotel (also in the directions there at the end)...

(PS hi everybody)

Wow...So I see a Subway in Forest Hills.
