I'd heartily recommend it, although as many have said before, it does suffer from overhype. However, as a challenging and experimental way of telling a story, it's great in my opinion. You'll look a bit weird if you try to read it on a train though.

Quick theory before I go to work:

If the idea that the MH crew is repressing/has lost memories of an earlier SM encounter is true, I'm very willing to bet that the school burning down would have been the nexus of it. As I've said before, fire figures into the Slender Man mythos pretty strongly, and I can't imagine a more potent beacon for him than the fears of a teenager being trapped inside a burning building for more than an hour. I wonder if these guys all went to school together? It does seem that they've known each other for quite some time.

Also, this theory goes along with my other one about the siren being from a fire station. It's always seemed to me that Slender Man attempts to "communicate" via the very memories he's taken from others (remember J hearing distorted versions of his own and Alex's voices in Slendy's basement?) so it could be that he is "talking" to the MH crew via a sound deeply ingrained in the memories of at least one of them- the fire-station siren that would had sounded when the school caught fire.

Just a thought!

Well, as for the overhype, I seriously don't know how you can overhype this book. Very Happy

It's just unique in ways of storytelling and presentation. It's not your Stephen King sorta book where the evil is exposed at the end or something, where it is some shocking scenes and that's it. The scares are delivered via ideas and interpretations. You need some time to analyze what's going on (clue: many things are metaphors), but once you figure things out (and trust me, there ARE things to figure out), it's quite a heartbreaking story. You definitely need to check some forums after the read, but it is very worth it.

I mean, you get 3 different stories sort of, and most people just look at the film/Navidson story, whilst actually that story exists to convey another story that is hinted at in the second story, etc. It's a very metaphorical/artistic read for sure, and I can really only liken it to NAKED LUNCH and PALE FIRE (Lolita, Catcher and 1984 came up since those are generation-defining books - it doesn't matter if one likes them (I do Wink ) but what impact they had etc.).
So yeah, i'll make an account later today, if somebody wants some more info or would like to discuss this feel free to PM me. Smile Don't want to preach or something, but there are things you easily miss if you don#t have an IQ of 280 or make a lot of research. Laughing

I gave it to some people that have never heard of it before and they were absolutely devastated/amazed by the book, so yeah, buy it.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, on to the videos.

SLENDERLORE 101 Twisted Evil

We have discussed before that Slenderman might be an operator working between two planes of reality, and things seem to hint at this.
The purple tape might show things how they are - Jeff in the background, Alex "lying"... I def. think the purple tape indicates a person is lying. Though I might be wrong.
We also discussed that Slenderman might "take" children who would grow up to be "monsters". We have no reason to believe this so far... but who knows, Evan seems pretty... mental, and maybe Slendy is stalking the crew for him...

Jeff... this entry was just very shocking (and was similar to HoL in some ways...). Def. laughter in the heart-attacking distortion. There's def a bigger picture the three guys relate to/childhood trauma they're haunted by.

Only question: WTF/where is Jess??

Jeff saw Slendy, heard the sirens, remembered the school, took off.
So where IS she???

Also, this is not even close to the end. Remember the last package was 2/7. So we'll see 5 more till endgame/Season 1 ending (I HOPE SEASOn 1 ENDING, YOU HEAR ME GUYS??????????????????).

Et voila. Very Happy

Long overdue, finally registered. Wink

Something else crossed my mind: nobody seems to have pointed out the still unexplained house-bit.

And that Slendy was linked to Yggdrasil before.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I'm beginning to wonder if all the EMH crew have experienced something traumatic at some point in their lives and Slendy is a personification of either survivor guilt or the subconscious fear left from an event.
Or I could be totally wrong.
The distortion just about caused me to soil myself so I'm off to find a change of underwear after I type this. I heard the laughing but I'm not entirely convinced it a child's laughter. Could it be Jessa's? I'll listen again and then listen to her giggling in the CYSTW vid later on. For now I'm off to the docs whilst my tit of a boyfriend gets a booster tetanus shot. He stood on a rusty nail last night, the fool.

They say she dumped him, but it's kinda hard to get 100% confirmation on that, all we know is she's just flat out missing.

I think Alex is assuming Jessa broke up with Jeff, because of the lack of answers. We as an audience are pretty sure she's missing, but what is the (supposedly) out-of-the-loop big brother going to know about that?

As for the idea of childhood trauma, I'm thinking more and more that might be the case. First Vin's dreams of being chased through the woods as a child, and now Jeff's memory of the elementary school? I doubt it's a coincidence.

Ok, this might be way left field, but I was reading the original SA Slender Man/Create Paranormal Images thread the other day, and I'm suddenly reminded of one of the stories on there. I can't remember if it was in connection to Slender Man or not, but it was the one about the Grandmother that made it to America with nothing but a spoon and they could find no record of a husband even though she has a son, and in the story she tells her son not to have kids because the world has a way of "correcting" itself. At the end the main character, the grandmother's youngest grandson, realises that through some loop in time his grandfather was made to never exist and now the thing that's after his family is coming to "correct" the paradoxes that were left from making the grandfather not exist.

Well as soon as I heard about the school fire that Jeff was trapped in, my brain went immediately to "Slendy's correcting his mistakes, Jeff was supposed to die OMG OMG!" and I'm never sleeping again pretty much. Shocked

That's how I interpreted it. She wasn't returning calls but it's because she is AWOL not because she's over Jeff; it's just that the characters haven't caught onto that yet. Also CYSTW girl doesn't think they broke up (link)

hey idk if anyone noticed it, but in the "Jeff" video, when they find the envelope, they both got very excited about it, Evan said "Well here we go this is what we..." then Vin cuts him off saying "It's one of the envelopes!" I assume Evan was going to say "this is what we're looking for." or something like that. This got me thinking...if it's ONE of THE envelopes....what about the others? Have they been getting them and not showing them? They could be referring to the one in the Slushpops video, but idk, it could be something else.

God, can someone explain to me the appeal of this. I don't like EMH, but I am trying. It just seemed to convoluted, and tricky. Like how you have to follow CYSTW now, and I don't like that either. Can someone please, please explain to me how some people can say this is as good, if not better then MH, or at least explain the appeal.

In all seriousness, people (including myself) like the series for the following reasons:

A. It is (or attempts to be, anyway) realistic in its presentation and content, along with providing some mediocre advice related to health and working out.

B. It can actually be considered an ARG, unlike MH (web series), because of the interactive elements (the clues found by myself & Quiddler of SA)

C. The crew is definitely more interested in the community of fans than MH, or atleast it gives the impression it is, due to the live broadcasts, twitter replies, wrist bands, etc.
