[EMAIL] From Emily - 16th Sept

I had a brainwave this morning that part of the quote from Cyberslash's page -
Quote:

If logic is God...
then you're one step closer to heaven

is from the song 'One Step Closer' by the... >_<... S Club Juniors. Ssssh... don't tell anyone I knew that!

I asked Emily if she had it... the reply:

Quote:

"One Step Closer"? Yeah, actually... I do... I got it from Dance Dance
Revolution. It's the version by the SClub Juniors. I'll put it up in
my next music update for ya. He he, I don't get many requests anymore.

And what is this "Project Gateway"? I looked on the site, and I don't
understand any of it. Some sort of new age rock band? And you said that
you got my newsletter when you signed up on their site? Yeah... that's just freaky. I don't know them at all.

And by the way, um, you might be interested in this. There's a file on
my website now called "dieforgov" and I didn't put it there. I
can't delete it, and I can't even access it because my username and passwords aren't working when it asks me for them. This is getting really weird now.

You said you figured out the last music file, right? Well, if you could
help me get this thing off my website, I'd really appreciate it. My mom
works for the FBI. Smile Don't want to have her see that on my website!

Thanks!

-Emily

EDITED to add my original two emails she was replying to, for context. If you're wondering how she knows about Project Gateway, I mentioned it and gave her the URL in the email before this exchange, when telling her how I came by her site.
Email 1:
Quote:

Hi Emily,

Thank you very much. There was a message encoded in that sound file too,
which is why it was corrupted.. what I think may be happening, is that
when you upload a file it is intercepted by someone, who adds a message
inside of it before it goes up on the website. That's what the upload delay
is. The message sounds like a cry for help, although it could just as easily
be someone just mucking about.. who knows. There's only one way to find
out..

If you find any more corrupted files, or strange things happening on your
website, drop me an email, or post them up on your website.. whichever
you feel more comfortable with. The more messages we get, we may be able
to trace the origin of them and stop the person or people responsible.
That's my hope anyway.

I'll continue investigating...
Thanks,
Jehane

Email 2:
Quote:

Do you have a copy of the song 'One Step Closer' by SClub Juniors that you could post up on the website? Or perhaps the original by Taylor Thompson?

Thanks Smile

Jehane

Nice catch! Let's see what happens!

So should I feel disadvantaged or fortunate to not know much about 32nd notes' musical tastes? Laughing

Oh, fortunate. Definitely, fortunate. Laughing

My excuse is the same as hers: it was in the game Dancing Stage Megamix. Plus it was played to death over here.

It's not up there yet.. I'm guessing later on today.

Jehane,

It's done... I got it out of there... Didn't even bother to read it beacuse I didn't like the music at all! Freaky...

I'm sorry you can't come to the chat tonight. But, I will certainly talk to your friends. I hope that they are as nice as you are!

This was in reply to:

Hi Emily,

If you want to delete the dieforgov thing, the password details are: Username: S_Roberts Password: laptop.

Try not be alarmed at the contents of the page... it’s all in hand.

I like dancing games too, although over here they are called Dancing Stage rather than DDR. That’s how I first heard of the SClubJuniors song. Looking forward to downloading it!

Was nice to chat to you earlier! I’m not sure I’ll be able to chat to you tonight – it’s 2am for me! But I’ve asked some friends to join you who are working on the website corruption too. They’re a good bunch of people.

Jehane

Dieforgov is now gone from the site.

Now I'm going to bed.. do me proud in the chat tonight, and say hello to Emily from me Very Happy

Dieforgov is back. At least, I just accessed it a few moments ago.

Something that caught my eye--Dieforgov has a java applet that makes bubbles follow your mouse. None of the "real" pages on 32nd Notes has this applet--is it a subtle hint of some kind? I've checked out the name and website of the guy who made the applet and they seem innocent enough, although he no longer has this particular applet on his website. But why add a decorative applet to a secret page, especially one that isn't represnted on the real pages of the site?

Indeed, Emily seems to have just deleted the sidebar link for it. The page is still accessible from the link on info.htm.

As for the bubbles, I have no idea if they're significant, but I do know they remind me far too much of bees Rolling Eyes

I think it's just a nod to the fact that someone drowned in a desert. I think that's the entire significance, IMO.

All I know is that while I knew the Anti-flag song, I STILL jumped the first time I'm sitting here and then "YOU'VE GOTTA DIE, YOU'VE GOTTA DIE, YOU'VE GOTTA DIE" screamed across my headphones (already maxed out for music previously)... Laughing I'm really getting into this. I hope it stays consistent!

Whoa, hang on, now it is gone. No HTML even--just the raw text, "this file does not exist"

Yeah, I forget her name... (something kitten, maybe vicious kitten? Sorry!) emailed her and let her know the password and the username so she could delete the info from her page (which was great in-game, I don't know how great out of game...) But anyway, it's been deleted. But fortunately, the text was up, and the decriptions of the page are pretty apt, so I don't think we've got to worry about losing info from the page.

Edit - PsychoticKitten! Sorry!!!

Well she wanted to know so she could get rid of it. I wouldn't want to torture her about it.

Perhaps you should send in a request to see if she has a copy of the song "Tiny Bubbles"? Very Happy
