COuld the key be "party"? Given his last twitter post, plus that the message is on a cake...?

While searching for something involving a cipher and 8 (there is a cipher involving f8, but it was too technical for me to understand) I found this article. It may be nothing, but there are a lot of coincidences... 5 victems, all holding section 8 paperwork, and talks a lot about Catch-22 (22 words on the dogtag, 22 letters on the cake). There do exist coincidences in the world. Is this one of them?
Edit: Sorry, I got distracted and forgot to post the link! Take a look and see what you think. http://visionthought.wordpress.com/2010/08/16/military-cipher-from-atlanta-section-8-the-arrest-of-elias-abuelazam/ [/url]

Wow... this cake thing really has people stumped. Have they all been like this, or is this one just particularly difficult?

No, just this one. We have had about 7 people from the US and Uk working on this since it was published, and we have zilch. See http://www.stixy.com/guest/80294 for where we work and http://02.chat.mibbit.com/?channel=%23safehaven&server=irc.chat-solutions.org for chat about the Dexter ARG

Pics of the postcard (since the scan is probably more relevant / of interest here than on the blog post)

TY, notgordian, for that scan which I think is F8's first missive longer than 8 lines. Since there's been talk, the attachment below shows imo Dee is wearnign an actual key on a chain and not a gold chain with key charm like I wear sometimes.
EDIT: F8's Sleep Session is up http://sleepsuperbly.com/video/session_20100903.ogv The French used is Les jeux sont faits , a casino gambling expression meaning "the bets have been placed" or literally "the games are done" unlike the cake cipher.
No chance my eyelids will be open to maybe turn the dice numbers into 8 characters (or something else). G'Luck all.

Pretty quick work on things tonight in chat and the IG forum.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
After looking at the scan of the postcard and noticing the closing, nicole found the site
http://iamalwaysthinkingofyou.com/
Using the left and right videos and counting the number of smoke rings in each, dorf used a Polybius square with rings from the right vid for the row number and from the left for column number. This translated to "SUMMON THE VICTIM YT" leading to
http://www.youtube.com/user/summonthevictim
Very nice work.

Incidentally the cake cipher is solved. Some on the IG forum noticed that the latest F8 site is also 22 chars long & is a letter subsitution. Double checked HERE and will spoiler in case someone wants their own try. My to Dorf on that forum.

EDIT (Sunday): Dorf suggested generating Diceware words using Rumkin Diceware or any of the Wiki Article's available lists.
Rumkin & the lists offer some variables. I initially dismissed the French Diceware List yet F8 did end with a french metaphor.

We've got two more weeks left until the "exciting conclusion."
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=news&cd=2&ved=0CCcQqQIwAQ&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.clickz.com%2Fclickz%2Fnews%2F1731560%2Fdexter-creates-elaborate-arg-keep-viewer-interest-between-seasons&ei=R8GFTJ62MYP-8Ab9jaWKBQ&usg=AFQjCNGlPSn-gAX6aXT2wBhyBI6goyQ3tQ
So, this ARG will be over around September 19, a week before Dexter 's fifth season begins. I'm hoping for a really user-involved conclusion with a new twist every minute with the game constantly going on over a few days.

Pity that it has to end so soon. Still, it gave them at least one new fan of the show. I'd never seen it before, but after I started playing, I watched the first episode to see what the big deal about the show was - and was hooked. I'm now trying to see seasons 3 & 4 before the new season starts, and have already caught the first two seasons. Great stuff. And I hope they learn from this experience and do another ARG sometime.

At least watch season four before season five starts. If you didn't already find out what happens at the end of season four, don't search for Dexter or watch any season five promos since they'll spoil it .

I THINK I may have had something spoiled for me, in that regard, since people on other message boards aren't always nice about hiding spoilers. Are you referring to this?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Rita dying...
If so, I know it happens, but not how or why. If it's something else, I have no idea.

I know... Although in a way I'm glad I warned, so I can prepare for it. Even if it won't have the same impact as it might have otherwise.
