Just FYI, the third video is also available (just hasn't been 'posted' on his blog yet):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sNwP2Z4H_A&feature=related

Didn't bother using spoilers, as its easy to find if you watch the video to the end.

Also, looks like Declan has given us a clue regarding the picture of the cog:

'That said, I believe each of these symbols have the ability to leverage the medium in which they live to speak the language of the material they inhabit. It is as though they want to be found, trying to extend a bridge to us…
…but i cannot yet figure it out.
In some way McLuhan's insight would be of value here and yet i find myself at a loss.'

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
McLuhan's insight according to Wiki is: "a medium affects the society in which it plays a role not by the content delivered over the medium, but by the characteristics of the medium itself."

Hmm...

Thebruce did you get any pictures of the papers Declan was passing around the room?

When I arrived there were a few already in circulation, but from what I could tell they were pretty much just large prints (printer prints) of images that aren't new to us now, nothing "kloo-y" that I saw. I snapped one in my flickr set from FanExpo here

Re: McLuhan, he's really famous for the colloquialism "The medium is the message" so maybe we're supposed to concentrate on the media being used to communicate (such as the tree with the carvings in it).

The Professor keeps hinting about something hidden in the gear.png file. I've opened it using a hex editor and in notepad, I don't really see any message, but his student has pointed out the "metadata".

Quote:

<xmpMM>
<rdf>
<rdf>
</rdf>
</xmpMM>
</rdf>
</rdf>
</x>
<?xpacket end="

No kloo what we're looking for, as I have no understanding of this stuff. Dunno

eta - That's weird, it won't paste all of the text. Here's a screen cap of the text.

Yeah the metadata is standard Photoshop content, however in looking at the XML, something does seem odd...
Stripped to just attributes and values:

What is DICOM doing in there?
From Adobe:
Quote:
DICOM is the most common standard for receiving medical scans. ...DICOM files can contain multiple "slices" or frames, which represent different layers of a scan.

Don't know if this is all a red herring or if there's something else here, but it's interesting. DICOM related values are:

xmlns:DICOM="http://ns.adobe.com/DICOM/"
DICOM:StudyDescription="teyloteprtmsb"

eta: I've also stripped apart the PNG format to look for hidden codes, pixel/palette LSBs (a relatively simple steganographic method) but nothing stood out.

Also noting on the same adobe URL:
You can save 8‑bit DICOM files in any file format Photoshop supports (16‑bit files must be saved as DICOM, Large Document Format, Photoshop, Photoshop PDF, Photoshop Raw, PNG, or TIFF files).
Important: When you save a file as DICOM, any layer styles, adjustments, blend modes, or masks are discarded.

ETA: Declan also alludes to the CLUE when he says "surgical precision" in his blog.

ETA2: The Ironclad website got an update as well. They are advertising a "Family Day Picnic" in Gods' Lake, and to look in the paper for details (nothing I could see) .

ETA3: Just got updated...

ETA4: "Hlgúujuu Heights Park" Hlgúujuu = Haida language for "greedy"

The article in the Gods Lake Post about fires near Chernobyl:

Has some truth to it:

Declan's blog is updated. The Arrows are up....

ETA:
This time in the metadata we have two items:
DICOM:StudyDescription="hsiisuteloetcniu"
DICOM:SeriesModality="playces.edu.yorku.ca/"

ETA2:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modality
among others "the channel by which signs are transmitted (oral, gesture, written)"

Are we to expect more signs to be transmitted through that yorku.ca website?

The three codes are deciphered:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's a railfence of "teyloteprtmsbalwdootnehccefhsiisuteloetcniu" that decodes to "thecycleofthespiritsmustbeallowedtocontinue"

Declan's Blog comment from Sandawicha wrote:

I took the code that shizzire did and put it after the url playces.edu.yorku.ca and it took me to a page with notes

Credit to Sandawicha! Well done!

the title of the page is "dg--you still have friends"
and there are two hidden links (right click the page and select all)..
the first is some note from DG.

the second the filename has the translation from Russian to "Committee of State Security". i havent translated the inscription on the image. anyone else?

in other news. the godslakepost.com got a few updates today, with another QR code. someone want to guess what this one says?

I'm thinking that no one has mentioned it because it all seems to be too OOG. The ads on the site can be googled, and are real ads, some with phone numbers. The lodge also has the feeling of being OOG.
But you never know.... BTW... the lodge also has a youtube account with some vids. They are all showing as being 2 months old. Dunno Nice looking place.

The Russian inscription is:
Quote:
жизненного цикла должны быть вызваны человеческими руками и Природа молоть в золе

it translates to:
Quote:

life cycle must be triggered by human hands and nature grind in ash

I think that's correct.

I guess they are suggesting that the fires in Russia are part of this cycle. Chernobyl was a sacred site???

Declan's Blog has being updated, he and Chad's twits seem to point at the protests outside city hall, don't you think ?

Just stating out the obvious but nobody spoke about it

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
On the picture from Gods'Lake Post article about it, you can read "The one will restore balance"

I can't figure out what that means, and the link from Chad's twit either... Dunno

Have you noticed the chinese character on Declan's Blog ? Wonder what the link with animism can be... I tried to find what it means but I could only understand the third character :

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
洞, the last character means "cave" in Japanese

The first one is not clear enough for me to read, though...
