[THEORY] SLENDERMAN AND CAMERAS
And Lunatechs roomate seeing Slendy O.o

In many of the videos we have seen in The slenderman chronicles(This whole project had reached far beyond Marble hornets.) The people rarely notice Slendy until they look at the tapes. which I find weird. any theories on this.

BTW:This shit just got real dude. My roommate was tellin me of a time he was being chased by a thing, and when he described it It sounded an aweful lot like SM it was creepy. he discribed it as :It looks like that Jack guy from nightmare before christmas, couldnt see a face.
So I drew a picture and he said that it looked like that. I thought I should tell you guys.

I always thought it was just because he was an immensely powerful supernatural being and that interfered with electronic devices.

He's just playing it up for narrative value. Tell your buddy to bring a camera with him, perhaps. >Smile

I actually have my own theory on this.. My guess is that Slenderman can somehow "flicker".. I'll explain.. On computers and televisions, it all looks like one continuous image to the naked eye. However, it is actually many different images all flashing so fast that it all combines to make one continuous flow like a movie (if that makes any sense). With the right camera, whether video or photo, you can actually somewhat see this "flickering" on computer and television screens. What is Slender Man is actually "flickering" to make the opposite effect, where he is doing it so fast that he is actually invisible to the naked eye, but can still be caught by cameras?

I'd always assumed that this was one of Slendy's supernatural abilities, or even the possibility that, in cases where people should see him but don't, he *wasn't* at the filming location but inserted himself into the video later. But then I remembered the Invisible Gorilla experiment:

Quote:
The so-called "invisible gorilla" test had volunteers watching a video where two groups of people — some dressed in white, some in black — are passing basketballs around. The volunteers were asked to count the passes among players dressed in white while ignoring the passes of those in black.

Oh, yeah, and about 20 seconds into the video, a guy in a gorilla suit walks across the court.

When this experiment is run, about half of the subjects fail to see the gorilla. All of their attention is on the ball-players, so they have no attention to spare even for something as obvious as a guy in a gorilla suit.

It seems not just plausible but likely to me that this effect would come into play in situations like the EH video shot in Evan's basement, where Vince is doing curls while Slendy lurks unnoticed in the background.

When watching a Slenderman video, we've been taught to pay close attention to everything in the frame. When the characters are shooting the video, though, they're mostly paying attention to whatever is at the center of the camera's attention.

It sounds crazy, but think about this: How often have you looked all over the house for your keys, only to eventually find them in a place you've already looked? If it's so easy to miss something you're actively looking for, consider how easy it is to miss a gorilla or a Slenderman that you're actively *not* looking for.[/url]

I never liked the idea that you need a camera. There have been at least two incidents in MH where they never used a camera to see him. No wait three that I think of.
1) Entry #2: Alex mentions seeing him earlier in the day on a road, did not have camera at time
2) Entry #17?: All filming in field, think slender man is random guy in way of filming
3) Entry #26: Alex's gf saw him first, but Alex definitely saw him as well.

I think Amy seeing Slendy before Alex is a matter of angles; from the couch Alex was on, it's unlikely that he could see Slendy, when he could have just as easily turned back to his laptop screen/been looking at Amy, not Mr. Thin in the background.

Acutally, I think Stick was referring to them both seeing him, not just Amy seeing Slender first. Then again, I think Amy was looking through the camera at the time and we never confirm Alex seeing SlenderMan, just hearing her scream. Then again, it's possible and most logical that they both saw him without the camera.... I'm rambling again.
