[INFO]Running the world

new command:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

okay the command is: runningtheworld

at that page you get this:

//Command Prompt: FILE OPEN >>>>>>>shadow_government/transcripts/runningtheworld.txt

::Overheard by CC32 on September 1st, 2004::

Sir_Shadown: So do you see how things work now, Roberts? Everyone can be bought out. Everyone. And if you can't buy them, you strike fear into them.

S_Roberts: What are you even talking about, you madman.

Sir_Shadown: Well, let me put it this way. I'm your president, because I can strike fear in the heart of the government.

S_Roberts: Then what about Bush?

Sir_Shadown: You think Florida was an accident? I couldn't afford to have the "Bore" in there. He might have messed something up.

S_Roberts: Cheney?

Sir_Shadown: LaVie here is his right hand woman. What a plant. She gets the heart medication from the hospit... excuse me, from the base here, and she's sure to make sure his problem gets worse and worse.

S_Roberts: Clinton?

Sir_Shadown: He wasn't hard. All I had to to was put Monica in his office. I didn't have to do anything else.

S_Roberts: .......

Sir_Shadown: I'm suprised that you haven't asked me how my real estate in Watergate is doing.

S_Roberts: The War in Iraq?

Sir_Shadown: For once, Bush wasn't wrong. Sadaam did have weapons of mass destruction.

S_Roberts: Seriously?

Sir_Shadown: Yeah, seriously.*Coughs* I'll take you down to storage bay 9 and show them to you. Only cost me a couple million. He was being cheap that day because half of Baghdad was gone and wanted to get rid of them ASAP.

S_Roberts: I won't even ask about the Towers....

Sir_Shadown: You just did. And no, that wasn't me for once.

S_Roberts: You sure? You sure you just weren't sleeping through the planning of that?

Sir_Shadown: No, because I lost my best friend in that calamity.

S_Roberts: ........Should I be sorry?

Sir_Shadown. Nah. You know what kid, get back to work and let me get back to running the world.

nothing in source that i can see

Edit - changed tag, don't think this is a puzzle - Storm

This appears to just be exposition to me. No obvious clues.

So, what exactly is this guy trying to achieve by ruining the reputations of various powerful men, anyway? Any spec?

Exactly what he says... Run the world. Why he want's to do that is anybody's guess.

I mean, this is obvious, but I just want to write it for the trail-followin newbies, but this is further proof that we're dealing with a shadow government.

Shadow Government (Definition): a government running secretly behind a standing government, usually with more power than the "public" government., using their secret and powerful status to dominate and control world events and fortunes.

[spec] hospital

the switch from hospital to base could be a clue.

a hospital wouldn't make a bad front

actually, speaking of hospital as a front and gateway into nightmares, this is all very "Silent Hill"-ish.... I'm not saying anything, but the parallels are actually kind of cool. (No, DM doesn't think this is SH related, just neat-o.)

while we're on the topic of this sounding like other things, I have to say that the IRC chat (specifically, Darkness' plan) reminded me of FF7. Come on - standing in front of hope (instead of the lifestream,) giant meteor hitting the Earth...sure, the chronology is backwards, but I still think it sounds familiar.

I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, DM, what with that avatar.

The fact is, the well of original fantasy elements is about dry. However, considering that this is an ARG, I think it is being applied very well.

Baelfael, I do hear what you're saying. Next thing they'll be calling these crystals Materia and we'll have to fight against Jenova... (Ok, so a FF ARG wouldn't be that horrible, actually...) Cool Geek
