Brylcreem

If this is nothing more than a query over hair gel, I don't recall Brylcreem in the blue can in 50s, 60s, or 70s. Not to say that it wasn't out there, but I only recall the black and the red tubes that dispensed the "little dab, that'll do ya."

So tell me this isn't weird

Okay - Fresh set of headphones on home computer, and downloaded much better version, I bregrudgingly admit I hear BluKam...(or Blue something)

....But that's not what is weird.....

........This may be coincidence.... But it is freaky....

So I was playing with the track and really liked the sound at the end. Almost like a mutant photocopier. So I had cut out that section, looped it and was going to use it for an arthouse type track. Anyhows I digress... I started playing with the speed and noticed that when you hit about 15% it sounded like a voice in there.. Odd I thought, but maybe just artifact...

......So I reversed it....

Take a listen and tell me it's not freaky!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I swear I hear "Less Noise"

...... I will investigate further (like the man said!)...

(btw. It's an 2s loop x4; sped up 15% and reversed)

It's fascinating how we're all listening to the same stuff, but how may versions do we have!! Mr Abrams has got the honorable Rev. Bayes to come out and play.. and generally mess with us!!

Brylcreem might be a hint....

So I did some search on the product of Brylcreem, and found that Royal Airforce Pilots during WWII were often called The Brylcreem Boys. I just thought that was an interesting fact, due to the fact that Super 8 as a movie, in one way or another, deals with the USAF.

EDIT: As well, I thought the Latin motto of the Royal Air Force was interesting. "Per Ardue as Astra" which translates to "Through Adversity to the Stars".

Listening to it again I'm also hearing the blue can bit (though maybe with a line instead of lion) and I just realized it is three people, the second line is another person. I does sound like someone going "If we had any back there we'd know."

Then I'm not sure if the last line is "Okay, I'll check." or "Okay, I'm sorry."

The background noise is very much like an airplane though, but I've never heard an announcement ding like that one. But maybe it is in an older plane? That does sound like someone asking the flight attendant for a beverage/something specific. The only things I can think of that would fit that would be either RC cola or Pabst Blue Ribbon. It won't be a hard liquer since that comes in little bottles and I can't think of juice with that kind of label.

OR maybe he's talking about the super 8 camera? Maybe it is blue with a line/lion on it and he had to check it at the gate? Lord knows a stroller might have eaten it.

Re: tones

This seems highly likely to me. After seeing this comment I went and got my Sony camcorder and it makes a similar sound, although it only has one tone. Maybe someone is filming something with a camera/tape recorder etc. in a store and the tones are of someone turning on their video camera? Maybe the camera picked up a low battery noise or something while the person was filming and that's what we are hearing?

I feel as though the sound at the very end is someone breathing into the camera or bumping it against something(maybe as they are turning to leave the store?). I think that the clip sounds as though it was being filmed or recorded by someone and reminds me of the quality of when you record a video with a cellphone camera(not that I'm saying this was). It also has a "far off," low quality sound as if someone is filming or recording secretly, or it's another person in another isle recording or something.

Going off of the plane theory people are talking about, if they are flying, perhaps it is the captain or co-pilot asking for a beverage and the ding is some kind of instrument/warning/notification/etc. on the control panel? Maybe we're listening to a black-box recording?

OK, so I listened carefully...
This is what I get:

(First voice): Sorry, didn't see 'em back there.

(Second voice): If we had any it'd be in a blue can, lion on it.

(FV): Do you think there's any in the back?

(SV): No.

(FV): OK, sorry.

This is a conversation in a small store. Why?
Blue can, lion on it. Yes, its a real product. You can get it on Amazon. Its been around a long time.

This is what i hear. I like the explanation that it may be a department store. The beeping may be the sound a door makes when a new customer comes in or out.

Sorry I didnt see em back there
If we had any they would be on the shelf
blue can, lion on
you think there is any in the back
no
ok sorry

Okay if this is taking place in a store then the chime could be someone walking through the door to let the clerks know someone entered.

I swear i've heard so many different things in this audio clip and i've convinced myself of what i heard until i read another attempt at deciphering it...like another poster said its amazing that we can all hear different things

Alright... first post but I think I've put this to bed. I've run this audio through 2 noise cancelers and spectored both voices to see the differences

here's the script

1: Sorry, I didn't see any back there.

2: Well, if we had any they'd be on the shelf

1: Blue can... Lion on it? Do you think there's any in the back?

2: (quickly) No...

1: Ok... That's fine.

I'll try to post the clean audio online soon so you can here it.

blue can, lion on it...

I was just thinking about the can for Lowenbrau beer... it was (may still be) blue with a lion logo on it. Maybe he was asking the flight attendant/store manager for some? Not sure if that was mentioned or anything else yet, but it just came to mind...

Hmm, this is an audiological knightmare. I'll wait to hear your version. Is it:

Blue Can/kam ............

    Play on it...
    Lion on it..
    Flay on it..
    Piano
    Camera
    ... else

I can see the logic of lion (?nostalgic road trip perhaps); but still can't catch it (but I think a lot of these is like the spinning ballerina illusions-Once you flip it's quite difficult to switch back and is very robust until the counter flip).. Still there's some convergence which is good...
