My personal interpretation is that he's still actually himself, he's just time traveling.

Re: Possible Chancellorsville identities:

If he were basing it on one of these children, I'd have to go with Hyser orBell Young, going along with his dualities/mirror image theme!

Now of course I understand this is a game, but I also know that some PM like to base, to various extents, their games in real history. I know I prefer to write (or will write mine, there's only been one so far) in as much historical fact as possible.

Our PM has been very specific about a 5 year old being present at the Battle of Chancellorsville - in Virginia - in May 1863. A five year old would never have been a soldier of course, not even a drummer boy (who are known to sometimes have been as young as 9), so he must have been a resident of Chancellorsville. Since he was 5, he would have been born in 1858, and since people didn't move quite as often at the time, the likelihood is that he lived in Chancellorsville during the 1860 United States Federal Census - when he was 2 years old, just three years before the battle. Just in case, and for the fun of it, that our PM is basing this on a real historical person - this is a list of all the boys, age 1-3, that lived in Chancellorsville that year.

1. Charles Howard, 3, son of Mary R. Howard
2. John R. Charters, 3, son of Thomas and Julia
3. Albert Edward, 1, son of John and Eliza
4. Robert Lewis, 1, son of Robert and Jane
5. James Elley, 3, grandson of Edward and Sarah
6. Thomas Bullock, 1, son of Oscar and Catharine
7. Eustance Guard, 1, son of Cornelius and Mary
8. William Van Wort, 2, son of William and Elizabeth
9. Jason R. Foster, 3, son of Frederic and Susan
10. William Garner, 2, son of Charles and Mar
11. Thomas Sullivan, 1, son of Robert and Sophia
12. Jason R. Hopkins, 1, son of Henry and Eliza
13/14. Hyser & Bell Young (twins), 2, son of Nancy Young
15. Morgan R. Silver, 2, son of Isaac and Catharine
16. Walter P. McGee, 2, son of Ebenezer & Louisa
17. James Talley, 3, son of Nathan and Rhoda
18. James Payne, 3, son of Jesse and Catharine
19. Thomas F. Long, 2, grandson of Jeremiah Long

I just extracted these names from the original 1860 Census. No reason to assume that he is basing his most resent persona/memory/past life/what-ever-it-is on a real person - but just in case I thought this might be kinda cool to at least look at.

hmm, could very well be too. But does he know it? He seems to actually think he's five years old - rather than say - 30 - and going back to a time when he was five. And he hasn't mentioned a machine or any other mode of transportation.

actually, it has to do with the changing frequency thing... it's talked about in earlier posts...

again, i think we should move over to the chapter 2 forum to discuss this because she went through all 47+ pages to make them and separate everything out and since we're talking about chapter 2 issues, it would make sense to do this... this will make it easier on everyone when we get to future chapters and need to revisit chapter 2 discussions...
