[Non-arg] Halo Reach content

So as expected there are thing in Reach that are sort of mysterious - whether they hold some meaning or not.

There are data pads (like terminals) to be collected through the campaign, but I'm more interested in the shotcode-like barcodes scattered around Winter Contingency. They're not QR Codes, and they're not Shotcodes.

I've got the unique ones I could find listed at http://halo.wikibruce.com/Halo_Reach#Barcodes

The legendary edition noble monument has a ringcode on the back of it as well, but it has grid lines, making me think it's intended to be a kind of guide, in some way, perhaps, or perhaps not. =P

Are they random? Or are they something encoded?
