 		Alright...even if no one's really contributing right now, I'm gonna keep posting what I get just in case it sparks something in someone.

So, feeling stuck and wondering when we were gonna get the 6th video and new entries, I drew a picture of saturn and sent it to HS with the message "how do I get there?".

What he sent me in return was this:



Okay, a few things here...

First of all, the image is named DontStopBelieving.jpg which is a reference to the subject line of my email which was "Journey". A+, sir.
Secondly, the text reads as follows:

Then, with a little help from the /x/philes, we figured out the sharpie part reads:

Ugh. Okay...this could mean quite a few things. On the most basic level, it could be referring to the placement of the words on the page. I immediately thought of the "spiral marketing" gag, but couldn't turn anything up, so anyone's guess is as good as mine. As far as what it could mean on a broader scale...well...we'd be here all night.
Thirdly, and possibly more importantly, is what our friend the History Lesson Cat has to say. I may be flipping a bit here, but that is NOT HS's handwriting. As soon as I saw that, I thought back to a few months ago when another poster asked HS "how many are you?" and he responded "one now more later".
Folks, I think HS is expanding.

sent him another email asking about the "hamburger" source code quotes that appear in probably and innocent. realized after i sent it that it appears in apples as well. oh well. waiting to hear back from him.
hopefully he doesn't just elude to the apples one that i forgot.
anyway, i'll post it if/when he responds.

Heres my own conversation with hat. Its pretains vaguely to my post on the previous page. The only thing I could think of with this info is that the surface and/or underground of Sinope is a paradise and/or hell with bodies of water in which relatively important people/entities reside.

Sinope used to be Hades.
m is the 12th letter in the Ancient Greek alphabet.
m is derived from the egyptian hieroglyphic for water.
The otherworld is a land of paradise, happiness, and summer.
Heroes and deities reside here.

Have I gone too deep?

Okay, my initial thought on this was to go simple and check "matrix". However, there's no source code comment and nothing visible with b/c or hue adjustments. The only thing even remotely notable about "matrix" is that he skips two lines between the sentences instead of the usual one. "twitter" and "Hair" do this as well, but I sincerely doubt that has any sort of relevance whatsoever.

Here's a few random observations...all of which probably mean squat, but may trigger something in someone else:

1) This is the only time HS has used rhyming in anything. Seems a little hokey, actually, so it's worth thinking about for a minute. Also, the "mini-poem" is not metered correctly (unless you pronounce Morpheus as "more-fay-us"). I dunno. Seems weird.

2.) Morpheus, besides all the possible routes one could take with the actual greek mythos, is also the basis for the word "morphine"

3.) The line "I thought this was similar". Is that what was whispered? Or was the poem something similar to what was whispered. That's the one thing I've learned about communicating with HS so far...keep your emails short as hell. Otherwise, you have no idea what line he's referring to.

4.) "We left". Again, this may be an allusion to the fact that more than one person now makes up HS. Or again, maybe not.

5.) If it's referencing your line about m being derived from the hieroglyphic for water, then maybe all we're supposed to take away from Morpheus is the M. The new path may have something to do with water. Only thing i can think of there is "reds". After seeing "blues", we all figured there'd be a "greens" but nope. So maybe there's more to that. Or maybe not.

6.) "The instructor was unemployed" is a very deliberate line.

7.) I have no idea what the hell is going on.

EDIT: 8.) The last three lines may actually be referring to the last line of the original email "have i gone too deep?" Might be worth thinking of movies that a similar line may appear in. We know he takes the movie route sometimes.

So that's it for now. Just the stuff that was swimming around the ol' noggin. Most of it is dead-end thinking and probably shouldn't be scrutinized too much lest we get off track, but if it makes anyone think of anything, for chrissakes post it here.

Also, for anyone just finding this forum:
PLEASE POST ANY CORRESPONDENCE YOU HAVE WITH HS HERE.

HS deliberately spreads out clues amongst people to encourage teamwork. I am positive many crucial pieces to puzzles have been emailed but lost in the abyss. You don't have to participate in the endless speculation, but just dump what you have. It'll help. Thanks!

I think this "lying" fourth may be leaving during Jupiter's opposition. I'm toying with the idea that these 4 are the occurrences he mentions in his reply.

@GoingUp - holy crap. huge kudos to you. in my mind, all the astrology stuff had to be code for something. it never actually crossed my mind that it could all be in reference to current astrological movement. my mind is blown. i feel retarded. i knew i was over-thinking this.
First off, i believe the fourth line says "Two such occurrences already. Not good".
I would guess that is referring to that twice before, he thought someone would be the First but it didn't work out.
(If you read back through the forums, there were two people he kept getting stoked on, as if they were on the right track, telling them they might be the First. both eventually just stopped posting and, i assume, quit playing the game.)
Secondly, I don't think the title of the image had much to do with your email address. I'll tell you why in a moment.

So after the crazy-ass DontStopBelieving.jpg, I sent HS this to let him know that I could read most of it except for the utterly unreadable last line. I also included two kittens quoting Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure as a jab at the confusing History Lesson Cat:

After screwing with the levels and intensity a bunch, I was able to get this from the center spot:

I believe it says "Which actually makes me think of the Hercules cartoon that was on way back".

Okay. Let's look at this.
The image name was "imumcoeli.jpg". As in Imum Coeli. Which is why, GoingUp, I don't think he was referencing your name. I think we each got pieces of the puzzle.

Read these and sh*t brix:

...which lead me to take another look at DontStopBelieving.jpg and the line "The Most Relative Aspect", and find this:

GAAAAAAH!!!!!! I don't wanna jinx it, but I think we may actually be on the right path now. So thank you SO MUCH for sharing your email and please continue to do so. You turned the tide, sir/ma'am.
And considering you even thought to look for that, I'm assuming you know much more about astrology than I...so anything you want to contribute would be amazingly helpful.

Okay...now here's some random thoughts on the image I received other than its name:

- Lots of "we's" here. Also "we's" all throughout Toaster's reply. I guess it's not so much that there's more of him now as it is there are more of him in this timeline. (The squiggly lines in your image *might* be a representation of the timelines he's been traveling through...the middle where they intersect could be his "present" and where it branches off could be one of two alternate pasts/futures...we don't know whether to read left-right or vice verca because of the backwards lines at the bottom)
EDIT: I'm now convinced it's a constellation that I can't find.

- I'm now trading cat cartoons with a time traveling astrologer. This makes me happy.
- The "one of his dumb rhymes" line makes me a little paranoid. A few posts back I referred to his rhyming in Ripbane's email as "hokey". If HS checks this message board, which, seeing as it's really the only place on the whole of the internet that his site is discussed - why wouldn't he, he may have taken offense to my comment, which is frankly embarrassing. He also may be clarifying that it was not him that said it, but rather the "someone" who "whispered it to an instructor". Either way, we can probably assume for now that the little rhyming thing about Morpheus is a formula.
- The dug out pit and accompanying text MAY suggest "going too deep" is not worth it, cuz it don't mean squat. We should just embrace some of what he says and take it at face value. Solid advice. Especially with the new current astronomy angle.
- First occurrence of what appears to be red colored pencil. Not significant, just nice to see another color.
- This is the longest post ever and I sincerely apologize.

 		Thank you for making that connection airportdisco! It's amazing and it probably would have escaped me. Also your drawn response to him was adorable. Now, I don't know how much help I'll actually be in terms of Astronomy or astrology but that won't stop me from researching it!

I'll just dump a bunch of potentially relevant info here.

Jupiter is in opposition to the sun on the 20th-21st
The equinox is on Sept. 23rd

As for the drawing in ascendant.jpg I think it may be a depiction of Jupiter's path intersecting the earth's ecliptic plane. There's a pic of one done for another planet on this page.

So, the sun is the immum coeli which explains the light flair on that .jpg. I asked him about Jupiter's opposition so Jupiter is the ascendant.

Also I found an astrological analysis of the whole Jupiter thing for the 20th.

With all of Hat's discussion of algorithms and formulas I think maybe we're supposed to calculate something. The only thing from all these astrological terms that I think ties to that is the aspect. But on the other hand the "At first we thought things like this would help the algorithm. We later decided to just embrace it." line makes me think of the Foundation novels from earlier and the whole psychohistory thing.

I want to email him again but I'm not sure how to even go about it this time AUGHH!

That was actually my first email to him. I've been lurking for a while, though. I wanted to wait until I had a good question to email him.

BTW - I viewed the exif data of the .psd he sent. Hatshoe is a Mac user. Somehow, I figured that.

Also, airportdisco and goingup, I love your ideas. They seem pretty solid. I don't want to derail anything, but I just wanted to throw this out there - What if hatshoe doesn't want us to figure out an equation, but instead was showing us how it works. I know he only updates the site every once and a while. Maybe he only updates during equinoxes and solstices. Maybe he was just giving us a reference for when more information is going to appear so we don't get frustrated waiting for things like the original players were.

Just a thought.

You may be on to something here! as far as I can tell at least haha.

The comments on the "casualties" page are
"Thus Phase 1 comes to an end. Unfortunate to leave so many things buried. But maybe one will come along with a shovel."

Going by the the date of first post it's mentioned, towards the bottom of page 40, it was put up on the site Dec 21st aka the winter solstice. I haven't looked up any other matches but here is a calendar of astronomical events if someone else wants to do the leg work.

OKay. Well im up late right now and im watching the FUNimation channel. THis show called Aquarion is on. The episode pretains to the relation of the MOON and DREAMS. Not unlike my convo with Hat. I dont know for how its connected, but heres what ive gathered:

Morpheus rules over dreams and the sleeping realm, etc. and dreams are a place of peace and happiness etc. MUCH like the Irish interpretation of the otherworld where heroes reside. ALl the main characters of Aquarion were trapped in a dream world. I dunno, I feel like im rambling. Maybe its something though?

NO WAIT a character just said that our dreams are like the ocean and their tide is controlled by the moon IM ALMOST POSITIVE NOW THIS IS RELEVANT. The enemy clones itself using dreams and the clones are told apart from the original by use of the moon (though i missed any science behind that part), the monster is also fought with the Aquarion mech using formation Luna. Anyway, im gathering here that dreams have to do with the moon and from the moon dreams are presented to humans.

I think Hat is a fan of Aquarion and has used the episode im watching for his riddles. The episode is called The Path to Dreams, and it is the 9th episode.
Also the Aquarion mech has an attack called Mugen Punch. Mugen is often translated as infinity or dream. (the mech's fist extends endlessly and in any desired direction it seems)

AND THIS PICTURE WAS SENT TO ME WITH THE FILENAME DESCENDENT. COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT! And im not so computer savvy so i dont know anything about source code and stuff, sorry guys.

 		GAH sorry for the triple post but after reading GoingUP's most recent post and looking at the link he posted I thought something.

December 21st is a total lunar eclipse. if I'm not mistaken, that means the moon is blocked by the sun (not 100% sure). It will be visible after midnight. Midnight is at night. We sleep at night. We DREAM at night. ANd if my prior post means ANYTHING its that the moon controls the tide of our dreams.
I think something will happen the night of the eclipse. And it has to do with dreams.

Make of that what you will...
