[PUZZLE - SOLVED] Starry Eyed Suprise

Em posted a new song today saying that she got it in the mail and she thinks it's actually for the people who are trying to help her.

"Not only is it backwards," she says, "but it sounds wierd!"

Opening the file in wordpad...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

(Time of white) + Hz + click BPM = A calculated mess on a calculatorTCON

Blues

And then allllll the way down at the bottom this was repeasted a few times... But I'm not sure if it's really something ment for us. But I'm amused by it, so I'm going to include it.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

LAME3.96

"Time of white" could reffer to the white noise that plays for 15 sec starting at 00:45 in the song.

LAME3.96 is a mp3 decoder. Nothing for us.

Tone Frequency

I've been using a tone generating program (http://www.esser.u-net.com/ttg.htm) to try and figure out what the tone is by ear. I think it's closer to 320 Hz but I don't have the best ear for tones and I'm not 100% confident on that. Does anyone a bit more musically incliened want to try?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The tone is 69 samples per cycle, plus or minus some small fraction. Given a sampling rate of 22,050 Hz, this gives a freqency of ~319.565 Hz. Call it 320 Hz. Good guess, Redknight--you sure you don't have a good ear?

The white noise appears to be ~15 seconds long, as mentioned.

The beats are 250 bpm, assuming that the time between them is in fact suppose to be 0.24 seconds. MP3 noise makes it hard to get that last .01 second of precision.

Total is 585.

That accurate enough for you all? I love Sound Forge. Wink

Well, spec in chat last night was that the number we got out of this, when input into a calculator and turned upside down, would make a word.. and that would be a new command.

Well, since my answer isn't getting anything when I stick it in the command promptin various ways, here's some more detailed info (song is kept reversed):

Noise starts at 0:46, ends 1:00

Tone starts 1:46, ends 1:49.5

Beats start 2:25.5, end 2:30.3

"short tone" starts 3:05.15, ends 3:05.4

Don't know if any of that is useful at all.

What if we're talking the frequency of the white noise? That would give a specific number, if it's not a "chord" of sounds... whaddy'all think?

Something that occured to me, we've been coming up with 3 numbers and adding them together (mathematically). What if the + means to concatenate instead?

ie 15 seconds + 340 Hz + 250 BPM = 15340250

That would give us a longer word. I thought 3 letters felt too short.

I've been tryig that, but without any luck. Is it possible that we need to convert that number to or from another base?

Anagram???

I think they mention calculator on purpose.
If you turn the display of an electronic calculator upside-down, then some numbers resemble letters. For instance: 0 - O; 1 - I; 3 - E; 5 - S; 6 - g; 7 - L. But I can't think of such equivalence for the other digits.

So if we have 15|320|250| then the text is something like OS?|O?E|SI.
If the numbers are correct only '2' needs a corresponding letter - maybe Z???. Can the answer be an anagram of the letters OSZOZESI?
I think the word 'mess' in the text found in the file points towards my anagram hypothesis.

P.S. If this is obvious to you, I'm sorry. I just decided to share my thoughts.
