[QUESTION] What are these killer.jpg's?

So what the hell are these killer.jpg's? All I know is that the girl in them is fine. Smile

EDIT: Moved to the Questions forum -vpi

[edit] Sorry 'bout posting in the wrong forum, but i'm really clueless as to what this is all about. I've gatherd thus far that most of you are trying to extract a bunch of coordinates from these killer.jpgs. But there seems to be a sub-puzzle to it (something about chronological order of the photos.). And is this related to halo's ilovebees.com site in anyway?

Perhaps I shouldn't go on, maybe I need some learnin' to do. Sad

You've found the "404 page" where the Sleeping Princess communicates with us, both in the green words on the page and in the embedded text which corrupts the image on the page.

The girl is Dana, the website administrator and niece of Margaret the honey lady.

We've built up a conversation with the Sleeping Princess. Dana's blog has a sidebar with a very sparse overview of who these characters are.

Some updates we do this, other updates we find words embedded in the image file which have created a story, and sometimes they form a riddle.

The chronology of the images recorded the reaction of Dana as she discovered that her computer was looking back at her. This was before she left for China and was one of the reasons why Dana was glad to be leaving town.

I'm not sure I understand the question. The ilovebees.com site *is* where we find the 404 page with killer.jpg, it is the "error, file not found" destination for (most) missing URLs on the site. Is this related to Halo? That's a separate question answered elsewhere on the unforums, but it will never be addressed within the game -- in the world of ilovebees, the characters and places of Halo may exist, but they can never acknowledge that they are merely part of a video game.

Was the question "how does Dana's corrupted image relate to the ilovebees story?" There are several places to go for a bit more background on the story as we know it so far.

The Wiki and Rowan's Guide are just two places to start chatching up to all you might have missed.

I have a feeling that if I read the halo books I would have a deeper understanding of what the "Sleeping Princess" and "Queen" is... but then again I may be wrong.

These coordinates you can extract from the killer.jpg files; they are the locations of payphones that are ringing, right? If so, who has called them and why. What is the purpose. A friend told me each time a payphone is answered, the website ilovebees.com is updated.

Beyond believing that the Sleeping Princess and the Queen are Artificial Intelligences of some kind, there is really little about them in the ilovebees game that links them to the Haloverse.

It's been argued elsewhere, and I won't bother linking to the topic on this board, whether the ILB game is self contained. I think it's easy to say nay, because of the quantity of useful backstory that gives more substance to the ILB game if you know it. However, I personally think that all of that backstory is unnecessary to play ILB. YMMV.

Many of the questions you are asking are contained in several threads and the subject of much discussion. In summery:

the GPS coordinates are the locations of payphones, mostly around the United States. It is SPEC'd (and I think presumed fact at this point) that the Operator (aka Melissa) is calling these chatternet protocol ancestor endpoints (i.e., payphones) in an attempt to contact her crew (of the Apocalypso) so that they (the crew) can help organize her (the Operator) memory, identify the amount of damage, and assist in repairing it.

We, the players of ILB answer those phones using a passcode that has been learned from the available game information to date. Once we answer the payphone and give the correct pass phrase in response to a question, then the "axon" (GPS location) goes "hot" and that data is updated on the website.

The GPS coordinates are typically released (at this time) via the killer.jpg's on the 404 error page in advance of the "round." A round consists of approximately 1 week, answering a varied number of axons per group. Each group represents a wave file which is unlocked when the requisite number of axons has been "enhottenated." Once all of the waves have been activated, they complete a number of stories.

Dana's blog (link above) gives more information about what we know in game. The wiki is also another useful spot to gain information. You could also check out thebruce's site (which is also a link on Dana's blog).

Perhaps, if there were no BeeKeepers (Game players) present at the specified time and place. In fact, this has been documented to have happened in certain locations (I'll be back with forum thread links later).

However, this does not disrupt the play of the game, as the calls are repeated each day at the same time and place until the voice recognition software accepts the correct passphrase.
