I have been following the videos since the very beginning, and have been reading this forum from page one for the past couple weeks. I, like many of you, have been completely consumed by the pirates and this hunt. I have so many thoughts floating around in my head that they keep showing up in my dreams. So I've joined this forum as a way to get out some of the nonsense in my head and maybe making some sense out of it, or bringing something into focus.

I think you all have done a fantastic job and come up with some amazing things that I may have otherwise missed. I do have to say, Cap'n Slim that I completely understand what you are trying to do and can appreciate it. When everyone is so overwhelmed with 8 videos full of clues, homages or general nonsense, peoples' contributions can get confusing or off track. I think it is a great idea to try to have some sort of organization and focus. However, not everyone wants to play exactly the way you do. This forum is supposed to be for sharing ideas, whatever those ideas may be or wherever they fall into the timeline. Someone could contribute something that seems out of place, but gives you an aha moment that puts us on the right track. I don't think it's anyone's place to prevent people from posting what they want, or trying to direct them to post a specific thing. Again, this forum is for everyone at every stage. You said you weren't rude, but IMHO "pffft. whatever." seems a bit rude to me. Especially since UDbmas was just saying they didn't agree with the Port of Cortland being DeKalb(which I am not really in agreement with at this point either). All I'm saying is, there have been many people on this forum that have contributed small bits that got the gears moving and I think no one is more valuable that anyone else. There has been a lot of unnecessary fighting that is counter productive and the forum doesn't need to lose more valuable players because of it. Let's let everyone play the way they'd like to play, contribute what they'd like, and use all the info the best we can.

UDbmas...please don't leave! You have been a major major contributor for a long time!!

Fair enough.

But I didn't really take offense to UDbmas at all... (hence the "pffft whatever" dismissal of her pseudo-attack on me.) She, in fact, admitted defeat days ago in her own thread, so I assumed she was just overall annoyed with what she thought to be a solid lead possibly being dismissed or unproven. However... my response was to her accusation of me being rude to others, NOT to her disagreement with DeKalb. Disagree all you want! All I was asking for was proof in the form of clues, and then referring to the general consensus of people on line! The clues didn't support Roosevelt/Jackson as much as they seemed to support DeKalb. That's all.

That being said. If you look back at my threads, I DID SAY that we would follow a lead until we hit a brick wall, and then go back. So far? No one has put up better evidence then the DeKalb station. And once they do, I hope they can prove it forward to Episode 5. Already the DeKalb station is proving forward to Episode 5, which is why it is so popular.

I understand the frustration. I've given up MANY a lead because of someone else's posts or info. It's frustrating to work so hard on a clue only to have someone walk in and go "Hey, look at this!" and have your structure crumble.

People may not want to play "my game", but the people involved in yesterday's brainstorm and then last night's chat session will attest that it moved. It had life. Sooo.... we can either sit here and throw random ideas at each other, with lurkers grabbing our good ones and running, or we can light this puppy and then watch it run across the carpet with it's ass on fire.

(disclaimer; I do not actually light puppies on fire, nor do I condone the action of bringing harm to household pets. No puppies were harmed during the productin of this response.)

Didn't the captain mention something about cereal on the twitter account-can that account technically be used for clue grabbing?

random thought: in the Featured Player segment, the captain talks about players that bring lucky charms to the table. Looking at the marshmallows that come in Lucky Charms cereal, there have been green clovers (clubs), blue diamonds, pink hearts... but no spades... might be relevant somehow.
[/quote]

I mentioned the Lucky Charms reference before.

As for the 'Tweets" being clues? I think it's important to note WHEN the 'Tweet' in question came out. For instance... if that "cereal tweet" you mentioned came out the week of Episode 5? Yeah... it was probably a "looky here".

a thought: just as the end of episode 2 has "is everyone safely down below?" to indicate that we should descend into the subway, maybe fafa's clue in episode 3 "hey, how did I get up here? is this a clue?" means we should be coming back up to the surface? Maybe episode 3 is the only "subway" episode, none of the others seem to have any clear indicators.

or... maybe since Tom is the only one that leaves his box to go up to the blue one with fafa, maybe he exits here and the rest continue on their lines?

I may be wrong but doesn't DeKalb stop have other colors besides our orange, yellow and blue? How do the other colors fit in, or are we just supposed to ignore them??

Fair enough on my end as well...

I definitely do think you have at least refocused the group. All of yesterday did really move and there were some great contributions. I'm sure the chat did also. I wasn't able to get the link to work, or I would've joined in last night. I was also one of the lurkers for the past couple weeks, but realized I can probably get more out of contributing and working with the whole group, just like everyone else.

I do have to admit that DeKalb does have some nice points that really fit. I'll explain my problem with it. I originally was trying to get them all travelling together, but I really do think they split up. Based on them coming back together to defeat the snake in episode six, I believe that all four go their separate ways and then meet, or Mulligan and Crothers go one way, and the Captain and Black Tom go another. It seems that M and C are together in beginning of 6 and Captain and Tom then show up. I originally thought that episode 3 was the only subway one, but now I do feel that ep. 5 is as well.

The clear route I have been playing with is that of the Captains. He first says that was the dealer who dealt him 7 deuce 4 hands in a row. Then in the hand against Crothers they have all diamonds, but the Captain has a black Queen. Then in the featured player he says he reached the end of the line, lady luck(lucky 7??) went back the other way, and he's up to his collar in turds(flushing??). And finally in the poker hand, the Captain needs a 2 and 7. To me, that says the Captain takes the 2 from Columbus Circle and transfers to the 7, then takes that to the end of the line(flushing), while the 7 train goes back the other way.

Also, in the second episode, they say that they have to wait until nightfall, and the 2 only stops at Columbus Circle at night.

Your theory is not incompatible with DeKalb... in fact, note that only Mulligan says "I'VE never seen more than 4 docks in one port", the captain may not have been with Mulligan when Mulligan was at the Port of Cortland. The bullet point on the right also said "He's seen 4 docks", referring to Mulligan.

I think it makes perfect sense that they have split up in episode 3... they are always shown in different boxes, why not interview them all together? Maybe they are not in the same place?

 Ep 3,5,6
Ep 3,5,6

Havent been able to read the entire 200 pages, so not sure what of my theories have been discussed/debunked. But i dont even live in the USA, was holidaying there when this was announced, so im happy to give away all my ideas/maps as i cant collect it anyway.

I know your discussing 5, but the end of 3 and start of 6 seem important for pointing things out that relate.

So here are my theories, feel free to rip it all top shreds.

EPISODE 3:
CLUE:Spectacles is like face glasses.
Spectacles are Broadway shows. Take the subway under Broadway (red line).

CLUE:"Mind the gap in yer face"
David Lettermans infamous tooth gap. Continue past the Late Show with Letterman studio.

CLUE:I've seen 4 docks.
Docks is a secret rhyming term for CLOCKS. Im not in NY, but im suspecting you can see 4 clocks in Time Square. Can anyone confirm or deny this for me?

CLUE:4 docks in the port of Cortland.
5 CLOCKS in the STATION of cortland. Im hypothesising Cortland is Grand Central. Where the are 5 clock faces, 1 on the buildings

facade outside. And a cube clock with 4 faces on the inside, which you can never see at the same time.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Grand_Central_Terminal_clock.jpg
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Grand_Central_Terminal_clock_2.jpg
Take subway to Grand Central(7 line)

CLUE:Crosses out Port of Cortland.
GRAND CENTRAL is the wrong path, so head back to TIMES SQUARE station.

CLUE:Forked Journalistic tongue.
journalistic tongue is talking about HERALD SQUARE and this is the FORK where the pirates split up. They all get on different lines.

CLUE:Background colours.
Captain and Mulligan are on ORANGE lines, while Crothers and Black Tom are on YELLOW lines. They are heading south.

CLUE:Captains black and white photos.
At 14 St, the Captain leaves the ORANGE line and heads along the GREY L line to meet Crothers on his YELLOW line. He returns to his ORANGE line with the resulting GREYscale photos.

CLUE:Box order.
According to the MTA map when crossing the East River, the lines are labeled B D N Q, the same as the order they are appearing on the screen when everyone is there. This matches the line they are each respectively on.

CLUE:Mario and Fafa switch to the top.
The BLUE line was beneath the ORANGE and YELLOW lines, but now above the ORANGE and YELLOW lines have moved underneath. This happens just before ATLANTIC AV station.

CLUE:Black Tom enters other characters squares.
Black Tom sticks his head into Crothers square. This happens at ATLANTIC AV, where there is a connection between the 2 lines.

Then he enters the BLUE square by using the S Line at PROSPECT PARK. Black Tom must be on the YELLOW Q line. Crothers is on the YELLOW N line.

EPISODE 5:
CLUE:Captain/Crothers challenge.
The Captain is on the ORANGE B line, Crothers is on the YELLOW N.

After DeKalb Av the B line cuts over the N line. This is shown by the Captain cutting of Crothers arm.
Previously the Captain's B line has cut the J and Q lines without

stopping.
Crothers line (N) has cut the 5 and 6 lines without stopping.
Captains cards(previous cuts) are higher, he wins.

CLUE:Captain reaches the end of his line.
The Captain is now at BRIGHTON BEACH. The last stop on the B line.

CLUE:Black Tom has JJ.
Av J is on the Q Line.
What is the other J???

CLUE:Crothers has K8.
Kings Hwy, and Eight Ave are both on Crothers N Line.

CLUE:Mulligan has AH (Holy Mackeral)
A=1=Unary=Union Street???
H=Atlantic Avenue - Pacific Street?

CLUE:Captain has 345 of spades
By my Logic the Captain doesnt even have a Line at the moment.

Maybe he is at the beach with those spades, possibly moving 3 beach(spade) stops along to Coney Island.

Clue:The flop. QK6
I think everyone has reached the Coney Island stop. Thats why everyone can share the same cards here. Everyone needs to start heading back the other way (NNW'ish). The paths they take need to include QK6.

CLUE:Black Tom cheats.
Black Tom has changed to the Line that goes to Queens. It has

Kings Hwy and Queensboro plaza, KQ. No 6 though.

CLUE:Captain doesnt have a 2 or 7.
There is no 7 on the captains new line, not on a line with Seventh Av.

CLUE:Last 2 cards are H8
Everyone goes through West 8 St - Aquarium.(Holy mackeral)

CLUE:Name order on screen.
All names have a yellow background.
Crothers 0% Mulligan 0% is on the same line.
Tom 100% Captain 0% are on the same line.

CLUE:Skull reveals NNW bearing.
From here i have Captain/Black Tom heading NNW together on the Yellow N from Coney.
Mulligan/Crothers heading NNW together on the Yellow Q.

EPISODE 6:
CLUE:2 crabs from britain on a beach.
We start at Brighton Beach. Brighton=Britain. Brighton

Beach/Brighton Pier can also be found on the southern edge of england. Britain Pair/Brighton Pier?

CLUE:Aluminium.
Thats how its spelt in Britain, as is very close to Aquarium.

Aluminium=Aquarium?

CLUE:All Four of us...
The pirates are still split up. Mulligan and Crothers are together on the YELLOW Q Line. They have just CUT across the GREEN Line, the giant snake with a red tongue the RED Line.

CLUE:Captain and Black Tom meet up.
The Captain and Black Tom are on the YELLOW N line and have CUT across the GREEN Line, at a later stage than Mulligan and Crothers.

CLUE:The giant snake is the GREEN line.
Look at the MTA subway map.The green line forks at the end making it look like a gaping green snake, it has the red line coming out like a tongue. Its tail goes to manhattan.

CLUE:Our paths are meant to be one.
After both yellow lines cross the Green line, they merge back into the same path.

CLUE:The crew was on deck, and the ship was underway.
The pirates are walking across Manhattan bridge. The train they were on is on the underpass of the manhattan bridge.

CLUE:British guards.
I suspect this has something to do with the french style triumphal arch you go past to enter manhattan. I read it was described as looking like a fort if entering from the brooklyn side. But can no longer find that reference.

CLUE:The page opposing the dental ad.
Not given a close up, but the top left frame has an arch entrance, and 2 tables slightly look like classical roman pillars.

CLUE:Monkey sends away the dental ad. As pointed out there is a Number to call that gives the lotto numbers that translate as ORTUNE F, when putting the Treasure ball first gives FORTUNE. The monkey gets back a box, which he then eats like it was a box of COOKIES.
FORTUNE COOKIES would be found in CHINATOWN. Which is where we just arrived.

CLUE:Mulligan thinks he's having a nightmare.
The part of Lafayette St south of Canal St used to be called Elm St. Nightmare on Elm St?

EPISODE 7:
Im trying to see things suggesting they will head west from here, as the Ghostbusters fire station is that way. (Ghosts you can shoot), then there is St Johns Park looking very spider like.

EPISODE 8;
Mulligan was right. Should we get back on to the ORANGE D line?

MUSINGS:
I think the precise locations where Mulligan sees a crows nest will need to be mapped, unless its just whenever he can see tall buildings, manhattan or a specific observation deck. Or he can see that golds hiding spot.
Same with the Tutty picture, do we need to connect the dots when the captain looks at his picture or refers to him.
Is there a meta-puzzle with the parrot as well?

By the way i believe this whole hunt has been made by GOOGLE.

They have the finances to throw away on something like this, it requires heavy use of googles services(search, images, map, youtube), got on major media outlets to promote AS MUPPETS. Could be just testing the waters on whether this works.
I think its failed as well though. Probably were expecting a Mad,Mad,World-esque rampage through the city. But has had shockingly low youtube view numbers.

hmm, some interesting stuff in there, well done! I think your episode 3 analysis is the strongest and can be combined with existing theories

hmmm

Pierre - I must say, whether you're right or wrong, in whole or in part, you've done an impressive amount of theorizing that I can't personally ignore.

Excellent deduction power, this one, folks. Smile

Other stations

Besides those mentioned so far:
"Up to me neck in turds" -- Neck Rd on the B,Q Brighton Line
Holy Mackerel - One of the Church Av stations on G,F Culver Line, B,Q Brighton Line or 2,5 Nostrand Av Line
HM could be Avenue H or Avenue M on the B,Q.
The A in Mulligan's hand could be just for Avenue.

Obscure: Crothers line at the end of Episode 7 "I think I'm getting the bad end of this lot" -New Lots Avenue is the end of the 3 line.

Avenue U is the next station from Neck Road, and is NNW (as are several adjoining stations on the Brighton Line). I don't have any rationale for Avenue U, but the giant snake and the giant turtle in Marine Park are along Avenue U, and the station itself is in Gravesend.
