Re: Port of Cortland
and why "X" does indeed mark the spot

I explained my theory a month or two ago.

understanding the word "dock" in the computer sense with the new APPLE (as in a Cortland apple).

When used in connection with computers, dock means

"(2) (Dock) The launching pad for applications in the Mac OS X operating system. SeeMac Dock."

Now THAT is what I'm talking about, Spaniard!!!

You just changed the gameboard.

Ingenious. Sorry I missed it before!!!

On the Apple OS X, "there are 4 that can be seen, at the sides or bottom, and five if you count the one set to autohide (where it can't be seen)." Now if you google this last phrase it is specifically referring to the computer feature even though it is almost word for word the clue.

The launching pad for applications in the Macintosh. Working like an animated taskbar, the Dock was introduced with Mac OS X. As the cursor is moved along the Dock, the icons are magnified, and this creates a rippling effect. Here, that effect is used to mark the "X" on the main page. When you pass over it, it magnifies and ripples. So the clue -- the "X" -- is pointing to the three obelisks pictured in that image. The Dock can be located at the sides or bottom of the screen and can be set to autohide. Icon size and their amount of magnification can also be adjusted.

In the pirate videos, this is what the IT person used to mark the spot where the cache is hidden with an "X".

I'm not a computer person and so forgive me if I err but my description about the 5 ports, with one hidden, is taken verbatim.

Mac Dock

I believe they are referring to the magnifying glass, drawing a parallel between that and the magnification described for the dock on Macs. The X under the magnifying glass is showing the location of the treasure, under the map (I guess), although that would be the case even if there was no relation to the Mac dock. The "Home Sweet Home" is because it is WLOG homepage. The Mac OS is also called X, or OSX.

I think they are making way too much out of this. You can't put the dock at the top of the screen, so there are just 3 places for it to be. If you count the 3 choices when hidden as just one, that makes 4, but not 4+1. If you count them separately, that makes 6. But there is just one dock, you can choose to put at either side or the bottom, and choose to hide it or not.

Re: DaVinci Code
Cracking the Da Vinci Code

I am just about certain that there is nothing to do with the DaVinci Code in this, except maybe an homage, but I doubt even that. Why would these guys reference that? I just can't believe that they would, not the style at all. LOST was mass-market too, maybe, but I think DVC would really be beyond the pale. They certainly would not base any key points on it.

Ok Everyone.
Take a deep cleansing breath. And exhale all of your anxieties. Repeat.

Now, look at that wall, wherever it is. Maybe it's a book, you know the one. Or the legal pads. Or the Post-it notes. You have to organize in a spread-sheet at some point, right?

Now laugh! I don't mean this in a mocking way, I mean it in a tension reliever way. That's why we've evolved that power.

Laugh because none of us are going to claim this money. Not all of us at least. Most of us believe we will. That's why we have the wall, or the papers, or the maps with various pins. But only 1 person will, or a small team of less greedy people who will argue over how they could have figured it out on their own, or maybe none of us. Keep laughing, I'm talking to you.

I think I want to write up a reverse documentary of this maniacal, schizophrenic little community we have built and other hunts.

The sociological statements coming out of some of these posts are bordering on the line of political and religious extremism. We are solving a treasure hunt created by puppet pirates and it has taken over all of your lives. I know! It's done it to me!

Keep laughing. Alright, let the madness begin again. My thoughts in the next Post
