slusho

Might be a little off topic, but was just watching the newest star trek J.J. did and if anyone is unaware, Slusho doesn't only appear in Cloverfield. In the bar scene where Capt. Kirk is first recruited the bartender suggest the 'slusho mix' to Crewmember Ahora Wink

Anyways, might have nothing to do with this game, but a cool little easter egg there.

Yes, actually "Slusho" is kind of sign my JJ Abrams, and it appeared already in "Alias", "Cloverfield", ´"Cloverfield", "Star Trek" (as you already noticed), "Fringe". And even in "Heroes" (actually, a friendly wink to JJ Abrams - "among colleagues").

But it wasn't in LOST, and - who knows about Super8?

And am I wrong, but Tagruato inventes Slusho after 60ies?

Tagruato, too ...

Tagruato, the makers of Slusho!, can also be seen in the New Star Trek movie!

Other Cloverfield references?

Hey guys I've been reading a lot of posts on here and am sorta new to the whole ARG scene. I just finished watching Cloverfield again and can't help but notice that there are a couple references to Super 8's game. The most obvious one I noticed was when the characters were running through the tunnels Hud mentions the Coelcanth being rediscovered off the coast of Madagascar. The other reference that I thought was interesting, though I'm not sure if it is significant, is when they are doing the "goodbyes" to Rob it is Beth who is being interviewed the same time that is listed on Josh's craigslist clock. Sorry if that had been mentioned, I could not find it anywhere.

^^^ Interesting... though I don't remember Hud actually saying "Coelcanth". Didn't he just say "rare fish" or something? Dunno if it's coincidental or not, but it'd be cool if J.J. tied it together like that. Surprised

Clover references

psm0548;

The first observation regarding the coelacanth (which I'm sure SnowXWhite is correct) was alluded to in the movie, though the name of the fish was not mentioned, and that has been discussed here at some points. (Using the "search" function can save a lot of time) Wink

The time on the clock has been a point of conversation here but I don't recall your second observation regarding the time when Beth was saying "bye" being talked about here before. Was the time reference seen on the "running" time counter on the video recorder, or on a clock in the background? The time on the CL clock was 11:36:24. Without digging out my Cloverfield and watching it, can you tell us if that was the time the interview with Beth began, or was it part of the time during which the "goodbye to Rob" lasted?

Oh, and Ras, that was a cool shot of the Tagruato obelisk. Was that supposed to be SF bay where the federation was? Just can't recall that shot.

In the special investigation mode on the blu-ray disc the comment said that Hud most likely referred to the coelacanth. Smile

It was during Beth's conversation, the clock was running but during her speech that time appeared to occur. Like I said not sure if it was just a coincidence or not, the main point I was trying to get to is I'm wondering if there are more clues within the movie that we have not noticed. I did not watch the movie looking for clues but when Hud mentioned the fish and Beth was talking during the same time as on the clock I figured it was at least worth a discussion.

If you notice while Ahora is browing the menu there is an image on the back of the menuthat constantly changes. One of the images is the Slusho drink.

somebody wakes me up when its over......

come on folks

the slusho brand was invented by jj and his bunch of tv writers back in the "glorious" days of felicity

also to be seen in multiple episodes of heroes, alias and wtf even for a sec in one of the lost episodes

and there are various pictures from each tv series where the cast is havin' fun with it Very Happy

since slusho.jp was founded later than the timeframe of the super8 story, rocketpop is just the new slusho........

Bringing back a dead post, but there's a reason... Slusho is in Super 8.

I just saw 20 mins of footage tonight at a presentation with JJ Abrams (since I run FirstShowing.net) and yep, it's in there. The most I'll reveal is that it's in the gas station (that's in the trailer). It's a quick reference and I don't think it has anything to do with any virals, but... it's definitely there. The logo is a bit different too. Wink

I am pretty sure i saw a sign for it in the trailer.. if you freeze frame on the destroyed storefront/where the headphones kid was taken you can see the slusho sign. I would have posted it earlier but i thought it had been talked about.
I will post a pic when the extremely long download of the trailer ends

Just also want to point out that the gun that Joes dad finds at the gas station looks eerily similar to the one josh's dad is holding when he yells at the kids.. just sayin..

Oh and my GF was thinking that he survives the crash and steals Elle fannings car.

Whoa what? Nahhh that's not the Slusho sign. It's inside of the store, not on the edge like that. It could be there again, possibly, but that's not at all where I saw it in the footage.

Hmmm I don't think that gun is the same. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's not.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The guy in the car with the gun yelling at the kids isn't the same one who is attacked at the gas station. It's a police officer who gets attacked there. Though we don't know what happens to the guy in the truck after the kids leave.

Plus, do you know where all of the scenes from the trailer fit in the context of the movie? I just watched it last night and they jumble up a LOT of it, scenes from beginning/end cut right next to each other, it's deceptive.
