I am not sure what to say. All these negative comments when I expected high praise. Maybe I just don't have similar tastes to you guys. Maybe I have a higher tolerance for lisps, after all I am a professional stage actor so I'm around a lot of gay men.

I have to say, I am feeling this one guys, I like it.

Based purely on acting alone, it trumps most slender vlogs. This one is going to the top of my subscription pile right next to EMH. I think this one has a lot of potential and I can't wait to see where it goes.

Oh, and one more thing, just because tribetwelve did the investigating-outside-my-house-at-night thing first, doesn't mean they did it better than anyone else ever could. I think it's a good idea, and it deserves to be rehashed once in a while by any slendy video that has a new way of approaching it. I felt that this one built a bit more tension than TT, especially with the addition of the shed scene. I really wish it would have paid off with a bit of action, but this is just the beginning of the series so I shouldn't be expecting such things.

I don't mind the guy's lisp, but the acting is very shoddy imho, considering that most Slender Man vlog acting is supposed to be not acting in the first place, lol. It just feels to me like they are improving acting for the camera. I'm much more impressed with Tribe Twelve on their use of night shots, but that's because they already have content. Once this Jonclubs dude gets more vids out, we'll see if he can deliver.

It just so happens that my name is Andrew.
It also just so happens that I'm a Slender Man expert.

Coincidence? I think not! I SHALL SAVE YOU, JON!

No Andrew, I AM THE SLONDORMONS. Check it out, it's true. It's earlier on in this thread and everything.

Too many tentacles.

Too fast.

Strange lisp (sorry Embarassed ).

This grew a bit tiresome really fast... I dunno, I just find it... tooooooo fast, too.... too forced.

Slendervlogs have become like Porn. Tentacles = tits. Slenderman = female genitals. So people try to show them as quickly as possible. Not my thing. Sad

Reaction to the first 4 entries:

"Alright, well, this isn't so bad...I can see why the lisp could be annoying, but when you hang out with the people I hang out with day after day, you get used to it...okay, well, Slendy was definitely in the trees, but I didn't see him after that, so maybe he's just seeing things...yikes, he's going to need a new door..."

Reaction to entry 5:

"HOLY CHUPACABRA SHIT, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!?!"

Reaction to entry 6:

"Oh joy he found an Operator Symbol, this is going to bode over well, and now we're going to check the shed and seeOH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ONokay everything's normal again find the envelope ending text nothing tooooooooh shit he's lost his mind already..."

Overall, I like it so far.

I can see exactly what you mean by that. I don't feel the same way, but I'm sympathetic.

For me, trying to be charitable, it seems like the conventions of the Slendervlog genre were settled on very quickly. There's a young man with a camera, there are noises in the night, there are half-glimpsed Slendies and related distortion, there's wandering in the darkness with a flashlight, and then the cryptic messages start. Since we know all of that's going to happen, we might as well get it out of the way--think of it as establishing Slendy cred. With the de rigeur elements in place, the work can start to breathe and add its own unique spin to the mythos.

Like most genre trailblazers, Marble Hornets didn't follow the rules as closely as subsequent works; it couldn't, really, because it didn't have any prior art to work from. Compare Halloween and Friday the 13th to later slashers to see the same dynamic at play. EverymanHYBRID, meanwhile, is using some of the genre tropes but is consciously trying to do something unique; a week ago that would have seemed like special pleading, but with their recent introduction of a Rake-like character we see that they were going for something quite different, and more ambitious, all along.

The next installment is going to be make-or-break for me. We're at the point where all the teens are in the cabin, we've learned the masked killer's gimmick, and we've seen the first victim die. From here on out, Jon will either keep painting by numbers or will start putting his own spin on things. The call-out to a mysterious Andrew at the end of the current video is promising.

I did like the tentacles, though. Smile

I'm afraid I'm trying too hard to like Jon because of my own prejudices. He reminds me too much of a lot of the vicious expletives I, as a gay man, have run into over the years. Please note that I'm not suggesting the actor *is* like that; it's an irrational prejudice on my part, and I think I may be giving him a lot of benefit of the doubt to correct for that.

His acting is good, if a little actorly. The visuals are good, and I really do like the tentacles. The train whistles synched up incredibly well with the opening of the shed; I'd be delighted to learn that those were added in post. The guys from the poker party might develop into decent characters, if they don't get killed off before we see them again.

TL;DR: It's been derivative so far, but that's OK. I'm in for at least one more installment.

Oh, and the envelope. The half we see reads "ACLE/OVA". *Clearly* this is the design for someone's TENTACLE LOVA tattoo that was left behind by accident. Jon isn't being stalked by Slendy, he's being stalked by a Slenderman groupie!

Yeah this is what I was getting at earlier. Some variety would be nice, but if you're going to follow the formula (if you can really call 3-4 stories a formula) at least get that out of the way quick and get on with the action.

I actually liked this entry and the series is growing on me. Really outside of the one Nerdfest video it hasn't been bad. I just wonder what its niche is going to be. Everyman went for more social (both in the number and type of personalities, and audience participation) compared to the isolation and foreboding of Marble Hornets. TribeTwelve went for... uh... being really similar to MH although I still like it. Hopefully our buddy Jon has something new in mind Smile

Eh I think it's just a distorted version of the shadow. Here they are side by side.

I disagree. "Hoody" looks like a person, not a shadow of a person. The face is too bright. I think it's a person wearing a mask and a black hoody.

Could be. The shape is identical so it's the same person/being in my opinion, but the shadow could be of someone wearing a mask and hoodie.
