I think fibble666's find does fit in with the printouts. Nice find BTW fibble! I think what we are seeing on the printouts is just whats described, they probably knew about the intermingling of the text in the chat so they use the arrows to make a page/line break in the conversation. Make complete sense to me. The only issue I find is the insertion of the pictures withing the chat document, but this is an ARG for a movie so not everything will be explainable.
maby the print out is a copy of text chat and the images are files sent and were seeing a log maby some getto key logger and file copyer maby its the people that are wochiing mr x and josh they have been loging chat sesions and this is the print out

Now that I think about it, that print out does remind me of a chat log. In it's style/layout and appearance anyways. That was a really good point.

Then again the timeline is synced with modern day. The chat on the 'simulated' PDP obviously may be quite good. It's safe to take from this info that the printouts might just be chat logs now. Not emails.

I still don't see the chat icon everyone else does.
ETA: Never mind, I see it now...
And in case anyone's wondering, apparently there is still no correct answer for the ".REENTER"/"DEVICE?" prompt. So don't even try... yet.

WOOO HOOOOO!!! I got the icon.. now what!
Maybe the chat icon will help us find the device on STIES
On this from page 29 it lists a number of possible devices and what their codes could be:
I know the PDP-11 user manual has been posted before but this is for PDP-11 Simulator Usage, which is what most people think we are on:
Communications Devices for PDP-11
There are a list of devices right at the beginning too!
PDP-11 = now
RP site = past

You have to click on the arrow on the very left corner that's pointing to the left. When it's pointing to the right you can see the chat icon.

For all we know, it's a bug. None of the icons down there do anything, do they? The print window appears in the background even without clicking on the print icon.

I know we have the #super8 channel (though nobody is ever there) but maybe we should be looking for a new IRC channel?

Yes, an IG IRC channel seems to be pretty appropriate!
I btw recall the chat channel they had at Star Trek ARG. It was actually not an IRC level, this chat was saved at a plain text website, but it wasn't just a html protocol. It was sometimes alive, as characters chatted with each other.
Haha, btw funny thing: the chat website was accessible per an IP, which is now used otherwise: http://97.74.158.186/ lol
P.S. For an IRC channel they have to be sure we are there in order to follow their chats. Otherwise the pure actors will wait and wait in lonely channel room... So they have to give us pretty direct and understanding access hints.

devices these links and the device thing got checked in all variations
regardless that the tape device that is already mounted to "our" STIES PDP-11 is the DX1
.BOOT DX1:DXMNSJ.SYS (paste from the STIES Boot POST Information)
i am a bit lazy but i cant count how many times i asked in between the discussions in several threads for showing up in the freenode irc chan
it would make the viral/arg more dynamically, specially at peak times with new material found/released
ps@kosmo nächstes mal schreib ich noch ein "erst klick dann chick" dazu
