The first place I saw showing off products was Entertainment Earth, they have them for $24

http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=SM6014385

Walmart.com {$20} had them but they're out of stock right now.

ToysRus.com has them for $20: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4068819

Several more sites have them as well.

About the Marvel Tron comic coming out this month, is it the same as the graphic novel, just in two volumes?
They're called exactly the same thing, so I'm a bit confused...

Toys R Us here in Houston area have the zero G, Die Cast Triple packs(and single die cast), kevin flynn light cycle, the lightcycle race track, identity disk frisbee, and the 3" figures.

No larger figures, core vehicles or Recognizer playset (has anyone bought this, I am curious if it is worth the $)

No luck with Target or Walmarts in the area. I checked about 3 of each in person with my son today.

I've noticed the graphic novel too and wondered if it was the same thing as the comic. Ordinarily I'd say no because collected TPBs usually come out months after the individual comics. But this is a movie tie-in comic so perhaps the TPB is getting released concurrent with the comic.

I ordered both just to be sure, plus this way my son can have the comic version since he is getting into Tron now.

So anyone else's Toys R Us not have the Tron stuff stocked yet?

So far Concord, NC has only gotten the die cast 3 packs (heroes and villains sets) and I'm feeling somewhat impatient to get some new toys to play with. Even wrangled the help desk gals into helping me look but we just found the place holders and those evil green dots of not in stockness.

Also, the issue of Motorcyclist I got in the mail had a little snippet about how we should already have light cycles. It was a silly and fun read. Razz

from a tron fan board it appears that availability of the toys are a mixed bag depending on yourarea. it is nonexistent in a few toys r us and a walmart but available at another toys r us. if you don't mind paing a few dollars more than what toys r us is selling them for, try the disney stores in your area. that was the first place i went which had a bounty of toys.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/blackfeathers/sets/72157624957294431/

also, just to note, product descriptions of the toys have been all over the map -even in disney's very own tron site describing the toys. so, i emailed spin master last week with a few questions i had at the time. i have permission to share what they told me. hopefully this will help clarify a few things you might see about the toys.

their message:

Thanks for your email. First and foremost, thanks for your interest in the TRON product line. We are super excited about all of the toys and thrilled they have finally hit store shelves so everyone else can have a chance to see how awesome they are.

I'm sorry to hear that you have seen some conflicting information about some of the products online. Because there has been so much buzz about this particular line there are some details out there that do not reflect what the final products are like. I've also seen some sites that have listed the details for *all* of the TRON products as the details for each individual product which is inaccurate and leads to some of the confusion about why Light Cycles don't have projectiles. We are working with our major retail partners (e.g. Toys R Us, Wal-mart, Target) to make sure the information on their sites is up to date and accurate.

I can confirm some of the details you had questions about and this should help differentiate between the core and deluxe vehicles:

Kevin Flynn's Light Cycle - This model lights up and it's a sort of blue/white light. The one I have at my desk looks more white but it has a slight tint to it so I suspect that it looks a bit more blue in the You Tube video you have seen.

Deluxe Light Cycle - This model features the pop-up brakes (listed as "functioning air brakes on the box), motion activated sound and it lights up. This model has a different light depending on the model. I've got a Kevin Flynn version at my desk and it's the same blue/white kind of light as the Light Cycle. I think the Clu model glows orangey/yellow just like Clu's Light Cycle.

One Man Light Jet - This is the model that shoots projectiles! This set includes a Black Guard figure who fits into the Light Jet and the jet lights up as well. The one I have with me lights up orange.

In terms of the tri-color lights I think this may have been an idea from earlier in the design process that did not make it into the final product. As far as we know any of the vehicles that light up only have one light and its specific to the character who owns the vehicle - e.g. blue/white for Kevin Flynn, orangey/yellow for Clu, etc.

I hope this is helpful to you. If you need any more help please let me know.

Sincerely,

Andrew

cool any idea when the Light Jet comes out? do we know any details on Wave 2? I think both the action figures and die cast mention wave 2 coming soon. I was assuming Quorra, maybe Jarvis, Jem, Castor would be coming out. for die cast other than a light jet i wonder what could be coming

Yes, the two separate comics will be combined into one book. The first part will go on sale Wednesday.

I actually went out to my local Toys R Us to check the availability on the Tron merchandise. After skimming the floor, I had to ask to see if anyone knew where they would be at. The customer service rep. had to enter it into the computer, but finally figured out where they were located at. The section looked practically untouched. I guess this is due to the fact that I live in a smaller town and a majority of people don't know much about the movie yet. They had deluxe figures as well as 3 to 4 electronic Identity disks, among many other items. After a long deliberation I decided on the deluxe Clu and Sam. Rinzler and the black guard will definitely be next on my list.

I ordered a couple of items from Walmart online and with their ship to store it makes the free Shipping but still pay tax (though longer wait is a con). Plus Walmart is giving $5 ecards with some of the items (I got one with Recognizer Playset and Deluxe Disc) so I might use them to justify the $40 for the 12" exclusive figures down the road.

Picked up the first issue of Tron: Betrayal this afternoon. It was the last copy in the store, so lucky me! I highly recommend picking it up as well as the second issue (whenever that comes out). Or you could wait until November to get the graphic novel.

EDIT: A little tid bit of info: The novelization of Tron: Legacy will be out on the 19th. I want to get it, but I don't want to because it'll spoil the movie. It's so hard to resist!

Went to my local comic book shop and picked up Tron: Betrayal for $5 after school today. Nice read, pretty nice artwork, definitely put the Tron feel onto paper. I also called Toys R Us to see if they had received anything other than the standard action figures, and sure enough, they had gotten a shipment in today. They had both versions of the Identity Disks, the "Hero 3 Pack" of vehicles, the deluxe Lightcycle, and the 8" action figures. I only had $10 on me after the comic book, so I opted out for the standard Identity Disk.

EDIT- I forgot to mention that I wore my Tron hoodie to both stores today. The clerk at the comic shop glanced at the cover of the book, then my sweatshirt, and goes, "Hey, this looks familiar. When is Jeff Bridges going to jump out?" He chatted for a little while about Tron and the film industry. If anyone cares to read this, haha.

The Walmart.com ship to store is glacial. To get what should be normal shipment times you have to pay that bribe... extortion... I mean 'express fee'. I worked logistics in retail, and have worked for more than one retailer. They could move the product to a store in a week tops if they wanted to. They could express it in ~2 days. The only savior of that order system is some of the dirt cheap prices you can get on some items not stocked in the store, or even some that are just cheaper than when bought as in store stock.

Figures the person at a comic book store is the only one with a 'clu' about Tron.
