Gorilla in the Cabin

I don't recall this being mentioned, but Trading Places anyone? It's the first thing I thought of when I saw episode 6. Granted in the movie it's on a train but eventually the gorilla and his new "friend" end up being loaded onto a boat in what appears to be a Brooklyn dock. I think they are being shipped back to Africa.

The letter S

Longtime lurker with a very minor brainstorm: I think the S shadow in Episode 1 (by Mulligan's head) might be intentional. Because I just realized that the Captain's ring in Ep 6 has three dots, and that's Morse code for the letter S.

And of course there's also that random S in General Anesthetic ad in Ep 6, which makes "Kit" read like "Skit."

Not sure where to go with this, but on the subway theme, there are three S lines--shuttle trains. One goes to the Rockaways, which is at least beachy. http://mta.info/nyct/service/sline.htm

But I also feel like it must be part of some greater wordplay, because of Mulligan's whole "See what I did with the C?" (and the letter C is also there in front of the "Kit").

Ancient Rosslyn awaits.
We are what we protect.

As I had confirmed from more than one source, as to the toothpaste that was mailed from Wyoming ... think "Sesame Street" (kit ---> skit ; also C kit)

I've discussed the strong cluing of Nelson since August.

Nelson refers to Lord Nelson, the famous British military strategist. Nelson's victory is commemorated by Central Park's Cleopatra's Needle

But it also refers and pays homage to the legendary puppeteer Nelson who does the voice of Count Von Count from Sesame Street who lives at Belvedere Castle.

Separately, the visual clues have always pointed to the treasure being hidden under colored plastic balls.

This was confirmed by clues leading to the diamond-backed snake and turtle at Lenape Park in Marine Park. The real clue there, though, was the cement balls alongside the snake and turtle.

It is also the result of all the clues that get you to Flushing Meadows. For example, in addition to the Unisphere, you have the Trylon and Perisphere.

That obelisk, called Trylon, celebrated the 1939 World's Fair which looked to the future. A time capsule was a prominent feature of the fair. The fair featured the Nelson Coat of Arms in the British Pavilion in a British heraldry exhibit.

The Panorama at the Queens museum at 111th there is sponsored by The Roslyn Savings Foundation which under this brilliant script makes for the roslyn connection. The screenwriting (like the puppeteering and film-making) really is world-class.

The latin motto on the Nelson coat of arms translates to "Let him who has earned it bear the palm." This is exactly analogous to Tom Hanks telling the villain that only the worthy will be able to achieve the grail. The Nelson crest is a hand pointing upward to a crescent. The COAT OF ARMS was first clued compelling when Crothers coat was cut up and he wailed about it.

Now if everyone watched DA VINCI CODE as I have long urged, you might have been looking for application of the Roseline. (My Aragon photo in the past weeks was meant to clue it). It is the Paris meridian, a predecessor of the Greenwich meridian. The Paris meridian is symbolically represented by the fleur-de-lis.

You might have sought to retrace your steps over the Panorama at the Queens museum at Flushing Meadows using the colored lights or focused on the colored zones of the 1939 World's Fair. If you go to the Panorama today, you literally might be slipping in clues if there is still ice skating.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hylkN1OZFM&feature=related

Alternatively, you might sense that the puppeteers were having some fun with the Santa/Satan thing and been tempted to stand on the Christmas tree medallion.

http://0.tqn.com/d/gonyc/1/0/U/H/IMG_0248.jpg

Stan the guide there, can point out the buildings explained that we have 30 rock, then the french building with the fleur-de-lis, then Saks Fifth Avenue, then the British Empire Building. Check out his ring and have NBC interview him in front of their building while filming his rings pointing at the buildings.

You should consider the christmas tree medallion and stand in the direction in which the tree is pointing. The medallion is like the vault on the poker table or the clock showing 11:55. See if it doesn't take you to the British Empire Building rather than Saks.

Now I realize that Flushing Meadows has the silliness of the "I gotta pee" and "I gotta take a crap" clues invoking Bart Simpson's dreaming of a field of toilets when he saw a bus going to Flushing Meadows. (Tbe bus stops at 111th, which is a "Nelson" in cricket). But do you really think that they would be able to resist -- given the Spielberg/Jackson movie about the roseline this spring -- pointing you in the end instead to the British Empire building? Either solution of course is elegant but think of the dominance of the Patrick O'Brien clues. Along with the DaVinci code, you should have watched MASTER AND COMMANDER, LOST as to its use of the LOST Numbers, and "Under the Rainbow" from Season 2 in Moonlighting. Scavenger hunt too, which is online, for good measure.

Once at Rockefeller Center, check out the 14 coats of arms at Rockefeller Center, the fleur-de-lis, Mercury, and even the god-like guy at 30 Rock. (Get it? Under the Rainbow Room? Top of the Rock? etc.)

As I've previously mentioned, Simon Pegg, the captain's friend, is starring in the movie featuring TinTin (a Spielberg and Jackson movie) being released this Spring. That movie -- like the DaVinci code -- also features the roseline. He is formally the only person the Captain follows.

Now the treasure, as I've previously suggested, is hidden under plastic colored balls as indicated by numerous visual and verbal clues. I have already sought to lay claim to the treasure under the code and honor of pirates (and Lord Nelson himself)* -- as in the Moonlighting episode (see Maddie Hayes as name of ship) titled "Under the Rainbow".

But putting aside the honor of pirates, I have real-world obligations and so can't make it to New York City to join your fun.

So without me just pretend you're Tom Hanks and his beautiful colleague and have some fun with it.

Please contact me when you are standing over the treasure and up to your knees in turds -- and then we'll likely be able to arrange to triple the value at auction and we'll split it in half. Thanks for the consideration.

As for some clue solves: for them being hidden under the plastic balls.

After Maddie Haye's "Under the Rainbow," the balls at Lenape Park, and the Perisphere, we have for example:

Mulligans "I don't want to sink! I cannot swim!" which is what one cries out in a colored ball mosh pit.

"Stand fast, Mulligan. This isn't your first dance with old cannon ball." (The ball mosh pit is an annual favorite and it isn't Mulligan's first dance.)

On The Larry King, the balls on the background are a clue to the balls. Note the various colored balls and vivid colors. The light reflection is made to show balls moving. The five colored boxes represent the mosh pit itself and the light (colored even) represents the moving balls.

When Fafa says "how did I get up here? Is this some sort of clue" that is how a mosh pit of balls would work in a sense. He is moving around in a box of moving balls and changing his position.

When Mulligan at the end of that episode asks him if he thinks we realized that they were slipping in clues, he is referring to the sense of slipping in the fluid, moving balls.

In the gambling video, visually, the glove and boots logo appears in two balls on either side of the hand reaching up -- as a hand might reach out of a mosh pit of balls.

What are the red, white and blue chips other than balls such as those pictured below being washed. Indeed, balls constantly being moved around.

The falling gold coins in the poker episode also visually suggestive of balls.

In the featured player segment, in which Captain sobs into tissues, those are balls on the tissue box design.

"I'm up to my knee collar in turds" -- such as how in a mosh pit you are up to your knee collar in unsanitary balls.

Mulligan said "I'll call!" "I'll call!" and then "I called! I called" When you call the number you get Hurley's Lost powerball's numbers.

Mulligan in the comic book is chewing. A "Treasure Ball" mentioned in the comic book in one of the episodes is not a lottery term but is the plastic ball that contains the prize. Get it? Plastic ball.

The keyword in DaVinci code was APPLE. I explained in August my view that APPLE was also the solve here. APPLE OSX operating system has 5 ports with one hidden. Separately, there is a related effect using OSX that the image ripples and enlarges when you pass over it. X marks the spot. Here, the "X" on the home page enlarges (when using OSX) when you pass over the three obelisks (Cleopatra's Needle has two counterparts). But it's not important we agree.

It's interesting when there are still mysteries to solve: such as whether HTML 5 is a key code.

"Double Down," by the way, is not a poker term. In addition to being a blackjack term, it is the name of a 2001 movie in which four young compulsive gamblers come up with a radical plan to get out of debt with a fixed game. I will assume that the clue has some other interpretation that I'm missing such as a famous quote by Sir Francis Bacon -- something like "Knowledge is Power."

Oh, look "Wisdom" at Rockefeller Plaza is playing in a mosh pit of plastic balls on top of a treasure chest containing $10,000 in gold coins. Cool!

Based on an analysis of their three PR Newswire releases in June/July, I sense that there is in fact an undisclosed hidden corporate sponsor which would be a good thing for a variety of reasons. (That Captain is a lovable, sneaky fella.) Whoever the corporate sponsor, if there is one, kudos to them if they are encouraging people to follow their own blue bird of happiness.

I've thought that the sponsor was either twitter or Google Chrome or the forthcoming Spielberg/Jackson Tin/Tin movie or some combination thereof.

http://twitter.com/newtwitter

In addition to Twitther's blue bird that they quite literally want you to follow in a campaign for the newtwitter, Google Chrome's new viral marketing campaign features flying birds.

http://thewildernessdowntown.com/

In May 2010, Google Chrome did a viral video called "Speed tests" the month before the launch of the pirate series. It was deemed 1 of the top 10 viral campaigns of the year.

Chrome Browser v. Potato

Chrome Browser v. Lightening hitting pirate ship

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCgQDjiotG0

Mulligan enjoyed himself immensely when he emphasized the clue: "Potato." There was a Apple v. Pickle clue or allusion in the pirate video series -- with Pickle being the name of the ship bringing the news of Nelson's great victory.

In any event...

Ancient Rosslyn awaits. We are what we protect.

Apple.

Since at this point there were so many homages, I thought that the CS was most likely an homage to C. S. Forester, to whom Patrick O'Brian is often compared.

OK..OK ...i'm gonna give you guys the major clues!!! Rolling Eyes

The green and yellow mechant flag symbolizes the Oakland A's baseball team. The A's play the Yankees....which leads us to Yankee Stadium.

I also received in the mail, a Catfish Hunter baseball card on the Oakland A's. Catfish Hunter played for the A's AND the Yankees....which also leads us to Yankee Stadium.
There are 4 puppets, and Joe Dimaggio was #4 ...which leads us to Yankee Stadium.

The Holy Mackrel was a double meaning. 1)Phil Rizzuto used to say "Holy Cow", and 2)A mackrel is a FISH, as in CATFISH HUNTER...who used to play at Yankee Stadium.

When you call the phone # on the GA AD, the Captain gives you numbers:
20 = Bucky Dent
17= Oscar Gamble
16 = Whitey Ford
14= Lou Pinells
21 = Paul O'Neill
12= Alfonso soriano

THESE are all Yankees...which leads to Yankee Stadium.

The puppets are Pirates....which stands for the Pittsburgh Pirates. they played the Yankees in the World Series years ago at Yankee Stadium.

Yankee Stadium is known to have "ghosts".

(Note: My presentation would be even better and more on point..but i am too lazy to post links of Yankee Stadium pics, and links to pics of Yankee players, in between each reference).

The GA made note of "steroids" in their ads...and Roger Clemens was on steroids.

The big gorilla, signified Dave Winfield....
Tom's interpreter was really Hideki Matsui...
The cut off arm of Crothers, was to signify Jim Abbot (perfect place for a link)...
"I hate Queens"..was because Yankee fans hate the Mets (or at least...Mets fans WISHED thatYankee fans cared about them).
Notice the several "PITCHER" references... (pitcher of Tutty)..

Last but not least...the "clue of all clues"... The CROWS NEST. The Yankee Broadcast booth is the Crows Nest, because Susan Waldmans nauseating voice, sounds like a crow!!! RAWWWGer clemens is a Yankee....

GO DIG!!!

Kudos to your thinking!! I would hope that means that you have not found it yet and would not be leading people on a random goose chase just for amusement Laughing What I can say about that area is that I would not just go digging randomly and it is a LARGE area to cover and a lot of security. Actually the places that could be dug is not a large area. The old bronx terminal market area is still in the vicinity and may be somewhere to look as well. The area of the old Yankee stadium would be the target. and for those of you who said it could not be in the bronx Twisted Evil

Just out of curiosity....

I just google mapped Staten Island Yankees....

Not that I'm behind this idea, or that it would even give you a valid place to dig... (I could be wrong... who knows), but why is "5x" and a giant "S" and another "x" look like it's mowed into the field?

Is that always there?

WOW....just..WOW.
I give up .... I am at a loss for words.

I was joking...being sarcastic... posted it because of other crazy posts smilar to that where people find a way to link ANYTHING to a spot.

It is seruiously SAD...that you people would think I was serious.

As I was typing it, and pulling out random things off the top of my head..I thought, "theres probably 1 or 2 morons who really think im serious"... SOOOO then I went a step further and called Winfield a gorilla, made fun of Jim Abbot having one arm, and called Susan Waldman a crow... and there are actually a few of you who STILL believed it.

NOTE: YOU CAN NOT DIG IN YANKEE STADIUM. (I did'n't think I realllly would have to write a disclaimer...but apparently I do).

PS: YOU people are the reason that music, video games, and TV are DUMBED down, and are not even challenging anymore!!!!

Go Yankees
Very Impressive

Very impressive CommonSense. If it is possibly around in the actually stadium it certainly can't be buried in the traditional sense. I could just picture people trying to dig up home plate.

If it is around the stadium it has to be really, really close by. The entire south Bronx is dangerous. It is not a safe area even during the day. So I suggest you look for something that is over, away from the 'nest'. Something that is ship related. Play with the word and see what ya come up with.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

People please stop getting nasty and calling other people's ideas BS. If you haven't found this chest yet then you have no right to call anyone anything.
=+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We'll lets see we have ball pits, stadiums and the first park in Brooklyn, a possible park in Queens, and the whole of Staten Island. Now where is that chest?

Another thing, isn't one of the words in Ep. 5 The WPPT spelled wrong? When you look at the hotel names I think one is spelled wrong. I forget which one I have to go through my stack of notes.

Green flag since it matches the toy could also mean Chinese merchant??
Maybe catfish & gold fish is related to fishing, fish store, an area with something to do with fish?
Maybe 4 is related to an area on the map that has 4s in it? Since 4 is a really big number clue all over this puzzle I wouldn't be surprise if the finally area has a few things that add up to 4. Like 4 trees, 4 churches, 4 corners, etc.

actually i didn't think it was a dumb idea because there are parked area's around yankee stadium that are not necessarily bad areas. Again, all of the bronx is not bad. Many area's are BUT not all. an Example of that is RIVERDALE.

I know Riverdale is a really nice area. I've been there. Yankee Stadium is not located in a great area unless you are within a block from the stadium. Unlike several others on this forum I won't knock anyone's ideas and get nasty. This chest could be any where at this point.

Phantom Ss

That is weird about the SI Yankees field. I tend to think the Ss (and Cs) aren't just homages because they're such physical clues. It's one thing to write the name of Popeye's creator on a tombstone, or make jokes about George Romero, but it's another to build a candleholder that casts a shadow like an S. (Though I suppose it was a coincidence, and they decided to leave it in...or, hell, they didn't even notice it.)

And although I did laugh at your pull-everything-in conspiracy theory, CommonSense2, it's not too far-fetched that Yankee Stadium is part of the puzzle. I was watching the main trailer again, and some of the spots around the city they show seem a little odd. (Where's that bus passing in Staten Island?)

Another visual thing that's been bugging me: red scarves. Tied around the spyglass in Mulligan's hand in Ep 1, around the Captain's leg, very visible all through Ep 6 in the cartoons. But it might just be there for a punch of color, and once you notice, it's hard not to notice anymore. (Er, sorry if I've now made other people look for no reason!)

P.S. that was not directed towards you in anyway. I totally agree with you. Just about any place can draw a connection with the clues, including the stadium and the snake/turtle references.
