Possible Path for Episodes 1-6

I didn't want to post this in the main forum since it's so long.
From episode 1 to episode 6 I was heading to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. When we got to episode 7 I got lost so I decided this was not the place. It's all probably nuts but I wanted to post my reasons here anyway incase any of you can see how episode 7 and 8 would fit in.
I will go in order of clues except for episodes 1 & 2 since we all are in the same place (Columbus Circle) at that point so I'm not going to add that here, only what I thought pointed to the tennis center.

EPISODE ONE:

Maddie Hayes- Cybill Shepherd who played Maddie Hayes always wears sneakers/tennis shoes, on the show she is accidently caught on camera wearing them when she should of been wearing heels. This can be read about many places on the net but here is one place that mentions it.
From IMDB.com "During an appearance at the Emmy Awards, she wore orange Reebok Freestyle hi-top sneakers. This appearance gained her some fashion criticism for wearing orange Reeboks with a black formal strapless gown. Even on the "Moonlighting" (1985) set, Cybill would switch from pumps into comfortable Reebok sneakers. Sometimes the sneakers would get caught in scenes during filming."

Jelly Beans = Belly Jeans.....if you apply the sound switch from window SILL to window SELE to Belly Jeans the ELLY in Belly is the same as the ELE sound in Sele so you switch it to ILL which would change Belly Jeans to Billy Jeans.

Crows Nest- The chair that the ref sits in next to the tennis court is called the Crows Nest.

Mulligan - When someone gets tennis elbow there is a taping therapy called Mulligan Therapy.
(Fafa in episode 3 had a Tape and in the Mario and Fafa video at the end they say "If I had to choose I'm on Team Mulligan" This is followed by Fafa saying "I think were gonna need some therapy". Also in that video Mario says "Look at these guns" I believe he is talking about having big muscles or strong arms...Armstrong is the name of one of the stadiums at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center.

Crothers is said to be the luckiest man alive yet his is very unlucky - Lucky Loser is a term in tennis-The highest ranked player to lose in the final round of qualifying but still gain acceptance into the main draw of a tournament due to a main draw player withdrawing. In Grand Slam events, one of the four highest ranked losers in the final qualifying round is randomly picked as the lucky loser.
Mulligan LOVES the Crows Nest. LOVE is another tennis term, it means a score of 0. (Extra 0 in Ep. 3?)
EPISODE 2:
The British and the French are mentioned in this episode. Besides the US Open at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center there are 3 other Grand Slam events....The French Open, Wimbledon (British) and the Austrailian Open. The US Open is the 4th Grand Slam event.
When Black Tom leaves the ship flying he has a fire trail behind him as he flies east over Mt. Rushmore and the number 3 in Japanese (More about this part in Episode 3). His fire trail is very similar to the US Open logo.
http://tinpanband.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/us_open.jpg
Also on this logo is a red swoosh type shape....this shape can be seen in Ep. 6 on the package of trading cards.
Cannons of destruction / Cannonball - A somewhat older term used to define a hard flat serve in tennis.
EPISODE 3:
The Larry King - Billie Jean King was Billie Jean Moffit.....she got the name King because she was married to a man named Larry King before she came out of the closet.
On the lightboard behind Larry you can see Flushing Meadows where the tennis center is and where the Roosevelt/Jackson train stop should be there is a green line instead of the correct colored train lines. An intentional mistake to make us look at it. The green line is Roosevelt Avenue.
In Ep. 2 Tom is flying east over the 3 and Mt Rushmore, the 3rd face on Mt Rushmore is Roosevelt.
In the ticker it says "Exit at Rockinson Hotel/Expo Mart" there is no Rockinson Hotel....it is a Radisson Hotel. Rock-in-son = Mt Rushmore in 3 aka Roosevelt. This means get off at Roosevelt.
Main address for the tennis center is Roosevelt Ave.
Port of Cortland = COURTland
The Roosevelt stop matches the colors shown in the video and it has 5 "docks" but only 4 are seen.
$10,0000 = extra 0 = LOVE in tennis?
From the ticker:
"Optomistic for an upswing" -another tennis term.
Avalon, Lochlann, Bors, Myraddin = can all point to Arthur = Arthur Ashe Stadium is in the Billie Jean King Tennis Center.
Monarchy = King/Queen
Dinkins = Dinkins Circle is at the East gate of the tennis center. Dinkins also gave the tennis center a 99 year lease.
Firefly = Firefly Tennis
Apple vs. Pickle - Billie Jean King was in a famous tennis match with
Bobby Riggs dubbed The Battle of the Sexes. If you look up uses for
the words apple and pickle a woman can be refered to as an apple and a
man can be refered to as a pickle.
EPISODE 4
28 Furlongs - I counted furlongs as city blocks....not a set distance because it used to mean the length of a plowed field which could be any length. (It could also mean a stadiums length.)
If you count 27 (since 28 is too far according to Crothers) blocks east (since Tom is flying east) you end up at 111 ave. (Crothers has 1 eye, 1 arm, 1 leg in this episode =111) If you stop there and take a right you hit 41st street, 42nd street and 43rd Street and are left in the middle of an intersection close to entering Flushing Meadows. (Crothers saying you can't just stop this video here)
Toms Clue goes in next episode as usual.
EPISODE 5
I didn't write episode 5 clues down, just trying to remember what matched up so these are not in any specific order.....
Las Vegas means the Meadows = Flushing Meadows (Thanks for pointing that out to me J.B.)
Trading Jacks for Queens- this could mean being in Queens as some here have said but IMO it means trading men for women. Billie Jean King left her husband Lary King for a woman.
They are flushing in Poker.
Toms clue from last episode- he is going backwards. This could mean back in time.
He says "Sometimes to follow the way, you must avoid the way you've known" and shows us in japanese North part/section. The way we've known is what is there now.
The North section/part of Flushing Meadows used to be where the 1939 and 1964/65 World Fairs were. Some stuff is still there but most is gone.
The colors for the fair were blue and orange like Crothers hat.
There are old fair maps here with photos for reference:
1964/65 -http://www.nywf64.com/
1939-http://www.pmphoto.to/worlds_fair/wf_tour/
This is where I start to get confused but am still able to match some things up.
There was a Texas Pavillion at the fair = Texas Hold'em
Holy Mackrel- picture on card is dressed like the pope. The Pope visited the fair and there is a monument still there today.
Giant Turtle? = could be the old theater? Can't think of the name of it right now. Or there is a Turtle sculpture at one of the playgrounds at the zoo there.
Crothers is shown with a head on the table saying nice head wheres your legs. There is a giant head sculpture in Flushing Meadows....no body just a head with flowers growing from it like hair....similar to a chia pet lol
The Dead Mans Hand trophy has rings around its wrist similar to the rings around the Unisphere at Flushing Meadows.
Dead Mans Hand - There is a statue of the late Arthur Ashe there, he
is in a swinging position, one hand is up like to throw a ball upwards
and his other hand is down with only the handle to a racket....very
odd.
If you look at the old maps from the fair they are positioned so that East is on top where North would be and the Unisphere is bottom center with roads leading outwards. If you can picture this as the poker table with the compass in the middle (unisphere) you would head Northeast from the Unisphere. It makes sense in Ep. 6.
Billy Ocean= Billy Rose Aquacade?
The names the narrator is called- I was unable to match them all up but some could have the last names of the tennis center like Lance ARMSTRONG, Carol KING etc.
Camera ad posters in....Arthur Ashe named his daughter Camera
because his wife was a photographer.
The tennis center also has a camera called Hawk-eye I think it was.
I'm sure I've forgotten stuff for this episode, if I think of anything else I will add it later.
EPISODE 6
General Anesthetic anagrams to The Regal Tennis Ace = Billie Jean KING
There is a giant snake at the Science Center right next to the tennis
center. The India Pavillion also had fake snakes around columns at it's entryway.
There was a Paris Pavillion at the fair(the logo was the Fleur Di Lis like on the guy in the comics tattoo)
The fair was divided into ZONES, as soon as you crossed
into one of those zones you came upon the France Pavillion (Napoleon)
and right next to it was the British Pavillion. The international
pavillion at the fair also had a tower in the British section.

I guess that's all I can think of for right now.....

Wow

I hate to clog up the board, but I just wanted to thank you for sharing your analysis. It is clearly well considered and reasoned. I am very impressed with the connections that you were able to find. Thanks again.

Fascinating

Cool. I actually wound up in Flushing Meadows on much flimsier reasoning (didn't get the Billie Jean King thing at all--just going on the Port of Cortland ref). And I noticed the 43rd/111th confluence. I had kind of given up on the place, but the connections you make are pretty convincing. I especially like the Belly-->Billie thing.

Bad news is, a couple of weeks back, I biked all around that area, including the 43rd/111th intersection. I did pretty detailed recon around the New York Pavilion (the ruined place with the three towers--it's what you see in the background if you're looking at the Unisphere from the Africa side). But I didn't see anything that seemed like a treasure marker. (Although it was interesting to note that the pavilion is painted in red-and-white stripes, like Crothers' shirt.)

One sort of random thing I did see: there's a mini-golf course in the park, which seems like it would be a sort of nifty place to deliver more clues. I couldn't scope out the whole place, but hole #4 had a waterfall behind it, similar to what you see in the flashback in Ep 1.

That all doesn't help much, does it?

I'm totally flummoxed on Episode 7--I can't begin to parse clues from the Master & Commander allusions. And Episode 8 seems like it's only dealing with instructions from a very specific point.

I didn't see a waterfall in Ep.1

Are you meaning the "Tutty" flashback? I really thought that was an embankment with scrub and a tree or two... oh, and snow!

Yeah, the Tutty flashback. That looked like water flowing down a rocky cliff to me. But I guess it could be snow. Huh. Anyway, the mini-golf thing is seriously reaching--the spot doesn't look _that_ much like the video. I saw it near the end of the day, when everything starts to look like a clue!

I thought it was water in the flashback too.

Weird thing about the pitch & putt mini golf is that a few weeks back when you looked at the Ashe tennis stadium the marker for the pitch & putt was on top of it on google maps and now it is not.

I forgot to add one other tennis thing - the Hardy Heidy Hello - Wilson. from Home Improvement. The wood falling and the wood patch in the wall reminded of home improvements or needing improvements.

I thought for sure Tutty was going to turn out to be a Wilson tennis ball.....like the ball in Castaway lol Smile
