OK, we need some clarification from Jeff soon, or I'm going to be pissed.

I can only see two options:

1. Jeff has arbitrarily decided Damsel is guilty, or knows more than she's telling, and is lashing out at her for no good reason. If that's the case, Jeff is being a total dick. I know he's under stress both from Slenders and from Jessa's disappearance, but that still doesn't excuse his randomly smearing Damsel. Evan is totally right to be pissed in this situation.

2. Jeff has some evidence--maybe not perfectly unambiguous, but still compelling--that Damsel is withholding some vital information or is even directly involved with Jessa's disappearance. If this is the case, he's still kind of a dick for not sharing that information with Evan, but at least his behavior toward Damsel is justifiable.

In case [1], I'm afraid they've come close to derailing Jeff's character. They can try rolling a saving throw by showing us what set Jeff off, but they need to do it soon. The longer we're left with reason to believe Jeff is randomly raging against Damsel just because she's the only other person who was remotely involved with Jessa, the more he's going to come off as an ass.

In case [2], they need to at least give us some hints that Jeff has some kind of evidence against Jessa, and soon. I was willing to take his "art students from Princeton" tweet as something along these lines until we found that Evan isn't buying it; with the team splitting up, and cracking up, we need something a little stronger. Jeff might still be mistaken, misreading whatever evidence he has, but we still need to know for sure that he has something. Unless his evidence is sensitive enough to put Jessa or the other Hybrids in danger--and I can't imagine what that would be--his withholding serves no purpose but to create fake drama. And I *hate* fake drama.

Hell, given the nature of the series, I'd be satisfied if Jeff told us he had a dream where Jessa showed him how Damsel conspired with Slenders to arrange Jessa's kidnapping. I wouldn't buy it as being what really happened, but at least it would explain his motivation well enough to make him look like less of a total ass. He'd just be a half-ass in that case, I guess.

Also: chewing toothpicks in a close-up is distracting.

I almost want to think that "CANYOUSEETHEWORDS" was on the note in the girl's hand.

Well, for starters I'd love to know what that note said.

(wait a second... could it be the note was what we saw in the Jessa-vid?)

You know what, I'm going with that theory until they do show us the note.

About the "Jeff is an ass" thing: I'm still convinced there was some minor interaction behind-the-scenes. Jeff was hoping in some answers, and Damsel's usual cryptic behaviour pissed him off enough to carry it to the public and later to the police. A simple e-mail exchange could be enough to prompt such a reaction - he's exhasperated, and remember he's still trying to rationalize all this, while Damsel is a firm believer in the Slenderman theory.

Which still makes him kind of a dick, but well, I see where he comes from - I mean, her flippant behaviour is starting to piss me off too, and I like Damsel in the first place.

Not everything creepy that happens means something. I mean, like some others have said, maybe it's to simulate the audience going insane as well, under Slendy's effects.

Yes, but don't forget the thing that makes Slendey scary. No eyes (or face), so the periodic darkening of the photo's eyes ties it into him. I have a feeling Alex is screwed.

Quoting from a while back I know but I believe the eye darkening is a common theme in the original rake creepy pasta where it makes a point to mention that the rake does have eyes but they are completely black. Its seems that the everyman/damsel crew get stalked by slendy while alex gets the rake. something for everyone!

personally im waiting for the introduction of the bunyip into the series

I can only hope this never comes to pass Rolling Eyes Not a fan of putting mythological creatures outside their proper setting. In this case that's Australian waterways. And I'm proud of my nation's waterways, damn it!

Regardless of whether it's Australian or not, it's more a matter of geographical inconsistency to me. As much as I wouldn't want to see a bunyip there, I also would not want to see a Kelpie or an Akaname or something. Personally, I think they should stick to falsified urban legends or similar things. If, just as a tangent, they did decide to introduce more horrific beings/creatures, what sort of things would you guys accept/tolerate/welcome?

Honestly, Slender Man's the only one I really know. I had never heard of the Rake until you guys brought it up. I guess the question for me is, what else is out there?

Specifically Internet-formed? Zalgo is the first one that comes to mind for me. Beyond that you may have to delve into modern urban legend for sources, or scan creepypasta for creatures that can be utilised that don't have the meme-like nature of Slender Man, Rake or Zalgo. Admittedly, Rake wasn't even a meme per se, but was made on the Something Awful website, which is probably why it's here.

Looking at that Zalgo page, i saw the Robocop on a Unicorn picture that is edited to look like Zalgo decay.. and I'm suddenly reminded of the Afroman's eyes being blacked out. D:

The Rake was a creepy pasta wasn't it? Every now and then I'll see someone compare Slender Man to it and my question is are they the same thing or are they two different things entirely can anyone answer that?

Honestly, why is Jeff clinging onto the idea that Damsel did it? Has he ever given a reason other than 'I think she knows a bit too much'?

I think Jeff assumes that because Damsel was the last person to see Jessa, that Damsel has caused her disappearance, plus with Damsel posting pictures of the guys without them knowing she's taken them would probably make him think she's a stalker rather than a friend.

This one would make geographical sense.

I called for the SCP foundation to suddenly appear, but it was a joke. Anyway, that site is a goldmine for weird creatures with reality- and mind-bending powers.

Zalog is a bit too hard to represent as an actual thing that crawls, but if they manage to pull it off, kudos.

Cthulhu.
You know you'd love it if they managed to pull it off.
