Mass Effect (1 and 2) I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite thread on UF Gotta say, Mass Effect is one of my favorite games in the history of ever. Fun gameplay (the Mako doesn't count. It just doesn't), great storyline, well-written dialogue and lots of developed, interesting characters. When it comes down to it there's not much more you can ask for in a video game.
Also, this:
Yep. That more or less sums it up.
So are there any other fans in the wide expanse of the Unform? The obligatory first question is, of course, "Who'd you romance?"

ME 1: Blue alien chick
ME 2: Miranda Lawson (of course!)

Tali, but of course.
Someone told me once you could romance Kelly, your assistant. I tried and tried but had no luck with my advances.

Technically, but it doesn't count as a "romance" in terms of the story. She comes to your room and dances for you, but that's pretty much it.
I did them all, of course.

Pssh, of course. Commandar Shepard, galaxy's biggest pimp. :3
I romanced Kaiden the first time around (while quietly pining over Ashely...) and then happily jump aboard the Thane fanwagon for ME2, though Garrus was a high-ranking second choice.
I still desperately want a Mass Effect tapletop RPG or ARG, though. It's gonna be an eternity till 3 comes out.
You think BioWare can keep the series awesome?

They have already promised that ME3 will be even bigger and more epic. They are working on predictive choices and morphing the plot to the player's decisions. Alas, ME3 will also bring the end of the series to include the novels. It will be bittersweet when it happens.

So... The Lair of the Shadow Broker downloadable content was really well done. Has anybody here attempted to break down the information provided after the main mission succeeds?
Spoilers below about what's available to dig through:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
- "Investment opportunities" that reveal organizational relationships
- Dossiers, data mined info on various NPCs, mostly personal stuff
- Video archive, short scenes of NPCs doing stuff on their own time
The sound is intentionally obscured with the latter stuff. It's possible that somebody with skills at unscrambling sound could restore missing dialogue? If somebody is good at spotting common items, perhaps reshuffling snippets in the right order could show an item moving tellingly from NPC to NPC?
So far from reading into the obvious it looks to me like:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
- Anderson, too highly ranked for combat, has become an alcoholic
- Miranda is unable to bear children and seems to be overcompensating
- Matriarch Aethyta, the Illium bartender, might be related to Liara
So who are these people at the tail end of the bonus content?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
- Praetor Gavorn was hired by Aria T'Loak to control Omega's vorcha population
- Emily Wong is a print journalist who is supportive of Shephard
- Khalisah al-Jilani is a broadcast journalist who antagonizes Shephard
- Matriarch Aethyta is a colorful bartender at Ilium
- Elias Kelham is a Citadel politician who bribed Captain Bailey and plotted an assassination
- Fred Mazzei is most likely Kelham's lawyer
- Urdnot Torsk is most likely the shaman for clan Urdnot, Wrex's clan
- Keeper 20 remains a mystery. Is he a rebel, a miscreant, an anomaly?
I would love to see at least one more major release of downloadable content, maybe two. But it's hard to guess what they're gonna do. Anyway, popping back at the new location on a daily basis can provide slightly different content. You can also get daily deliveries.

I also vote for romancing the blue alien chick, even though I am a chick myself.
A few years ago I would have told you there was no way you would have hoped for a major video game becoming a successful pen-and-paper RPG, but then there came Dragon Age. Dragon Age proved to me that you can hope for a GOOD pen-and-paper transition. And Mass Effect is coming from Bio-Ware.

Funny Story: A few days ago I rented Dragon Age, today I rented Mass Effect. I didn't realize they were both Bioware games until I was walking in my door.

Dawg! *high-five*
I saved before Omega Gate and went through the possibles, too.
In the end I chose the same as ndemeter as my main is a male. Gotta say ME2 is far superior in terms of the perceived variety of the side missions. Leaves me wondering how they can one-up it for ME3.
The time sink element was worse in ME2, though. I wanted to scan planets even less troll around in the Mako. However, the Firewalker was quite fun.
Now I need to work through the dlc and go back to 1 to get my alt (female) transferred, too (after I complete Arkham Asylum).

I went for Garrus
But I heard that if you play through one then two in order with the same character (which foolishly I didn't do). You can 'get' Tali. Love her.
My partner got it on with the Asari consort. I was jealous.
