Two other things:

The sentence "I'll kiss Napoleon before I see pirates leave any zone armed with Britain's best fortifications!" seems awkwardly worded in such a way as to allow words with the initials P-L-A-Z-A to fall next to one another. There's King's Plaza right past the park, or Grand Army Plaza if you turn roughly north-northwest from the end of the announcer name trail.

In the event we ever miraculously do learn the contents of the kit, it seems pretty likely to me we're meant to use the hotline numbers in conjunction with it; the supposed in-story reason we'd call the hotline is that we want information about the kit. The simplest method would be to use the numbers to count into some text (the video claims there's an instruction manual?) and read off the indicated letters or words.

Plaza
kissing Napoleon

That's interesting about "plaza". There is one piece of artwork at the International Building with, as I recall it, 15 squares. There is a ship in one of the squares of the middle columns. Fortifications on either side. I don't have the image in front of me to compare it to the actual work of art.

I believe the toothpaste that was mailed with the kit suggested Sesame Street. I believe the other item was an energy bar.

 X Marks the Spot!

Stood on the spot a few hours ago. Damn! These guys are brilliant!!! They did not make getting this gold easy. Every single clue works together in very interesting ways.

Waiting for my police officer friend to get off work so that we can make a moonlit jaunt for the booty. The area isn't safe for digging alone (especially since I'm a chic) + I don't want to get arrested for digging in a place you shouldn't!

Very thankful for the wonderful knowledge I've attained as a result of this contest! If all goes well, I wil be happy to share all of my research with the community.

P.S. 5 people asked me if I was going to bury a body as I walked home from Home Depot with my shovel. No other need to have one in NYC!

what we all seem to agree on
is that the Captain and his crew are extremely talented

We can also agree that the Captain said something like:

"Stop digging, ye codfish!"

Again, I beg you share either way. If all goes well, or poorly.

Long post is long, but here goes:

For the sake of completeness, here's what I believe to be the full solution to the Episode 5 announcer names/roads clue. It's not just roads around Marine Park; it's a nearly full list of the named streets crossing a specific stretch of Avenue U, in order from west to east, ending at the far corner of the park. Here's all of the streets in that stretch, with first names (and one title, which people have been leaving off of the lists for some reason) added in where appropriate. Some names are homophones or near-homophones instead of the actual spelling of the celebrity or character's last name; these are marked with asterisks below.

(BILLY) Ocean Ave. (Musician)
E 21st St. - 24 St.
(BOB) Bedford Ave.* (Actor, sort of - see below)
E 26th St. - E 29th St.
Nostrand Ave.
Haring St.
(JAMES) Brown St. (Musician)
Batchelder St.
(JOHN) Ford St. (Director)
Coyle St.
Bragg St.
(MISTER) Gerritsen Ave.* (Fictional character, South Park)
(JIMMY) Stuart St.* (Actor)
(CAROL) Burnett St. (Comedian)
E 33rd St. - E 38th St.
(WINONA) Ryder St. (Actor)
(JOHN) Kimball St.* (Fictional character, Kindergarten Cop)
(GARY) Coleman St. (Actor)
(LANCE) Hendrickson St.* (Actor)

We start at Leslie Sebastian Charles and stop at Hal Vukovich, echoing the last line of the video.

Not all cross streets are used. Some of these are understandable - quick, how many Nostrands or Batchelders can you name? - but I'm a little surprised they didn't slip in a "Keith" for Haring, considering they seem to love public art and used to be NYC subway performers. "Bob Bedford" (Rob Redford with Bs for Rs) is weak, but I'm guessing the puppeteers didn't want to make people walk twelve blocks with no confirmation.

I'm not sure why we're meant to be at Ave. U and Ocean St to begin with. I have a theory, but it's not one I'm confident of: we're somehow supposed to have gotten on the B service, "hit the end of the line", "gone the other direction", and been "up to our collar in turds" (if it were possible to back the other way on the B service from the end, you'd pass Neck St. and the "t'ird" stop you'd hit would be the Ave. U stop a few blocks west of Ocean). It's not as much of a slam dunk as the names, though, and unless the whole path is important in the endgame it likely doesn't matter.

Confession: I've been sitting on this information since the day the fifth video came out. I've been working remotely with a small group of East Coast solvers and watching the forum, at first to keep an eye on potential rivals for Episodes 1 and 2, then in solidarity with everyone confused by Episodes 3 and 4, then in disappointment as the thread became dominated by a couple of people with a heavily misguided sense of what should and shouldn't be considered a clue, then with some hope as Cap'n Slim tried to put things back on track, then finally in disgust as Cap'n Slim was called out on his gaming of the forum and trolls trolled and things broke down entirely. My group's kind of fizzled - we were sort of counting on the information in the Dental Workout Kit for new ideas, and apparently a combination of unexpectedly limited resources and poor sportsmanship have made that impossible - so I figure I may as well open up now. I'm still kind of shocked that for the weeks after Episode 5, either nobody else thought to check Google Maps for a "Ryder" or a "Hendriksen" in NYC, or everyone who had was just as tight-lipped about it as I was.

Also, elephant in the room: BertAndEarnie is doing a really poor job of hiding that he's SpyGuySailor. Am I seeing things? I can't be the only person besides Cap'n Slim who's noticed this, can I? Right after SGS leaves citing his hatred for "the Sesame Street aspect" of the thread, a (poorly spelled) Sesame Street name pops up with the exact same rambling, overconfident posting style, same bizarre visual "clues" that only he can see, and same paranoid delusion that everyone who disagrees with him must secretly be Cap'n Slim in disguise. There's been a lot of talk about how posting under multiple names is against forum rules; why hasn't there been more outcry about the most blatant example of it?

Grr, sorry to be negative. I just had to let that out.

Thank you for posting this. Hard to argue that there isn't significance to it...

X Marks Spot- Still More!

Went to the location that logically fits all of the clues up until the ship. For those of you who are close to solving this you will see evidence of a fresh dig by the ship after you follow the bird.

I'm certain that the location is right (fits perfectly with dozens of clues) but that I still need to use items from early episodes to solve it.

I'm going to re-watch the episodes today and get back to the location when I can (have to work too).

For those of you asking for info, I'll give a few hints:

Who is Tutty? Why is Tutty a potato?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Tutty is is very close to the Captain. When this person passes away they are replaced by someone who suffers from a disease related to products derived from the potato. Google it! This helps you to verify who or what the Captain resembles in real life.

What's up with the snake?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Once you figure out where the nest is... the path to get to the ship clearly resembles a snake.

Why is there a Gorilla in the video?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Re-watch episodes that contain the gorilla and study his every move. What he does matters in the end.

If you are working on this today- please don't waste your money riding every subway in town as others have. You are better off staying at home or the library doing research. I solved one of the biggest clues by reading a NYC book that I bought for a $1 at Strand.

Study this sentence first if you want to solve the clue!

Oh Mlssry
I think you are off

Mlssry I believe you are really too far north. Look at a map of NYC. The chest is between Cape Shakespeare (aka Great Kills, there is just so many great KILLS within his writings). Columbus Rock aka Nassau the county is wish I was not in right now. I believe that Columbus did land in Nassau on one of his voyages. I could be wrong. Someone check it out.

OH But there is
A McCarren Connection

I hate to inform you but there really is a strong McCarren connections to where the chest is located. Research and history points to it.

Are you talking about die chips when you are talking about Tutty and the potato?

Wow Iwantmygold!

Good for you. I wonder if we came up with the same ways to get to this location. We have to compare notes.
I didn't find the potato connection but quite a few other connections. The zone is a good one.
I know where that ship is. I was put on a time restraint last week when we reached the site. So that just stressed me out. I couldn't focus. Anyway when I look back on it I think I found the marker. It shows up a lot in the videos. It is not obvious, though.
We'll just apply the Captain's cabin and you will do fine.
