I think you are off

Mlssry I believe you are really too far north. Look at a map of NYC. The chest is between Cape Shakespeare (aka Great Kills, there is just so many great KILLS within his writings). Columbus Rock aka Nassau the county is wish I was not in right now. I believe that Columbus did land in Nassau on one of his voyages. I could be wrong. Someone check it out.

I disagree. I have a logical path that follows the order of clues in the episodes, all of them. I am currently stuck on "over and away from the birdies nest". Up until yesterday I thought the bird was something else too. I will admit to being side tracked when I found sugar house, but like I said before I no longer believe it is near sugar house. I never told you where my location was so how would you know if I were too far north?

I'd also like to add that I think a company is behind this not just the puppeteers.

Ok

Ok just make sure that the entire Captain's cabin & Tutty's picture fits in nicely to your area. You might have it.

I think most people would agree on the whole sponsor thing. This is just too big. Oh and don't forget the Parks Dept has to be also.

potatos, the "Sugar House" idea, and digging
stop digging, ye codfish!

I don't know the business, but I think the scriptwriter and his crewmates are so talented that the solution will be extremely elegant -- it will tell well. I agree with Missry on the issue of undisclosed sponsor but certainly if there is no sponsor that is all the more to their credit (that they would produce such excellent product on spec). It is certainly worthy of being on television as it is right now.

As an example, McCarren Park, with its vulva tree marked by a ball and place for a key, does not tell well. (But go ahead and reach inside please, given it is does not involve digging and thus is not illegal).

http://www.newyorkshitty.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/tree_piercing_mccarrenALEX.jpg

Similarly, there is no digging at a construction site under the elevated Van Wyck at Flushing Meadows Corona, at the site of the British Pavilion in the zone of that color, that would lead to a story that would tell very well. (But go ahead and check that location and others at the park for a key or combination to the extent it does not involve digging that is illegal.) But if the story cannot be told well with a member of the City Park's legal department standing at your side, then it won't be the answer IMO.

You should avoid digging at the Flushing Meadows Corona Park or anywhere else that would be illegal. Iwantmygold's experience illustrates the principle well -- she should not have been digging. We likely could have persuasively explained that the clues did not fit had she explained them.

Now, as for Missry's "Sugar House" lead, that surely was/is very tantalizing. Note how the bricks on Mario and Fafa's page seem suggestive of the brickwork of the window. I hope she concentrates on the Bronx location, rather than Brooklyn. I don't know the lead like she does (and she may have been able to rule it out rather than just run it into the ground). But if I were in NYC, I would find a reason to take the kids to the Bronx zoo and the wall related to the "Sugar House." I would look for information or a key or password. I would leave my shovel at home.

In particular, no disease caused by a potato tells well.

Mulligan says, "Potato. Heh-heh" or something like that. Clearly, making a big deal out of potatoes. So let's brainstorm potato explanations that tell well. (I liked my Chrome Speed Test involving a potato but there's been nothing to corroborate that).

Everyone knows that Fafa adores his friends from Polyphonic Spree (see his thank you video from the student years that are expressly linked from the WPPPT episode). The webpage of the friends he names in that video features a mountain of potatoes. The top of the Polyphonic Spree home page explains:

"the polyphonic spree is a living process just like you and me.

more to come, from all of us, can't wait to see what's next!"

"Championship"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6QOzjWl84o

and that of course brings you back to looking for a proposed solution that does not involve a dreaded potato disease.

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=740619#740619

I like proposed solutions that lead to elegant tributes to police officers who won a medal of honor (Socha K ---- Hosack). But not one that involves a police officer doing shoveling that is illegal.

Question Marks in the videos
guess only I see em

And its these question marks that change the whole game. I don't care about being bashed on with this info either, as the solution when it is all over will blow your minds. Then again I could be wrong, but hey, why not, and what is wrong with chasing every clue, whether others see them or not? And I still do not see why you all hate SpyGuy for erasing what no one else see's(an actuallity). No one cares....neither do I. I just want to treasure hunt and the bashing shows that even 14 year old kids can hunt here on this forum with no regulation. The only good here is that everyone is offended. I am, you are, we all is, so what? The monitor does not and has not given a damn. Complaints go unheard.
Lets hunt and stop whining. None of us like each other here. We are here cuzz we is stumped and just seek drama if we can't bite the tongue.
I will continue to post, so sue me.

Father Duffy at Times Square
for someone to check when next at Times Square

Father Duffy at Times Square -- who was surrounded by those Santas in the picture -- was played by Patrick O'Brien in the famous movie. He served in the Rainbow Division and was highly decorated. He worked for years in Hell's Kitchen and counseled James Cagney's character on issues of bravery and cowardice.

Could someone who lives near Times Square go there and make sure that Mulligan did not use superglue to glue a key to the underside of what Father Duffy is holding? Thanks in advance.

He uploaded the video on August 16, 2010

No problem! I'm digging at night so I don't know how clear they will be. Will probably go back the next day and take pictures.

No marker at all or I would have the gold! They also mention that there isn't one on the web site. Pls re-read spoiler. Snake is on the way.

Snake

I have only heard the correct snake location mentioned once. Here's how I found it:

1) Find the snake. (Hint: Try Wikipedia.)
2) Find the angel holding the cross. (Squint your eyes.)
3) "Even if they stopped at the next port, following a close compass heading to ours should put them...right behind ye!" (Draw a line connecting the two stops.)

If your location does not fulfill all three criteria then you have not found the snake.

They say there is no marker ? All I remember them saying Is that you'll know when you find it .... So I guess I assumed there would be something at the spot to let you know it was the correct spot.
I think I have the right spot too, did you use any clues after the part about following the birds path ?

So the snake is the shape of your path to the ship? No "clue type order"?

When you get to the place where the ship is you have two options across the street from one another, the octopus tentacle on the site is the shape of something on one of the ship options so you "try ta avoid" that one and choose the other. Not a park. Is anyone in the same place as me????

I thought of that too!

I thought of Wizard of Oz too since it is one of my favorite movies. No yellow road in this one though.

I've gone through the entire area during day and night and there's definitely not a marker there. It fits ALL clues it's just a matter of working out the foot/furlong issue to find the exact spot. Once you find the nest, the bird should be obvious. The path that the bird takes to the ship resembles the snake. Once you get to the ship using this path, it will be obvious that you are in the right place.

We're going back out late tonight or tomorrow with a metal detector and measuring equipment. Would be nice to finish this!!!

Furlongs
If you are in a park?

Iwantmygold please keep in mind that 28 furlongs is 3 1/2 miles. There are 3 parks on Staten Island that are 3 1/2 miles and one in Queens which is Flushing that are 3 1/2 miles long.

One of the reasons why I thought McCarren was the park. It is 31/2 miles from the starting point of this whole hunt.
