Don't know if this is cheating or not, but since we are an online bunch...

There must be some way Lori can use her computer to figure out where she is, no? I'm not the best at this stuff, but shouldn't there be a way to find out the area where a router is, or something?

Well, Sylvie must be reading these tweets and am guessing there's no way to stop her from trying to rescue her sister.

Update www.iwascharlottebronte.com

iwascharlottebronte website has been updated...Part One leads to a Word Document.

Part One
Quote:
When Lori answered her phone that Thursday evening she was happy to hear from me. We are old friends from high school and hadn't talked in a long time. She was surprised but not really skeptical when I told her she had to leave with me immediately, that I had received an anonymous tip about where Alex was, but that she had to walk out of her room right now, bringing only her passport, and meet me downstairs. Of course, she had received so many cryptic messages and demands over the past couple of weeks that it probably just seemed like part of the game. She was downstairs in minutes.

She was so happy to see me! Gave me a huge hug, which made what I had to do later all the more difficult. I took her passport, led her to my car, and gave her a bottle of water, which she didn't even notice had a broken seal.

I told her I didn't want to talk because I was afraid that they had bugged my car. I told her we would be safe at Sky Harbor airport and would talk then. She became quite sleepy after that, and was more confused than alarmed when I drove to a deserted area, moved her to the backseat, bound her arms behind her back, and covered her with a blanket. She didn't even notice the injection. I knew she wouldn't remember much, if anything, of the previous couple of hours, and would never remember that it was me, but I still felt guilty.

Once Leonard and the others joined us and we drove to the deserted airstrip, I avoided Lori. We all wore masks when she was awake but I feared she would recognize my voice or mannerisms. We kept her out longer than we should have, playing with those drugs is like playing with fire, especially at high altitudes, but I was surprised and relieved later when we were in London and Leonard told me that she had no idea where she was or how she got there. She had no idea how long she had been out. I realize that all of this is for her safety, but Leonard and I are worried about her. She is much sicker and more confused than she should be, but she is so determined and such a fighter that we have no choice but to restrict her movement as much as possible from now on. Leonard made a big mistake giving her so much freedom, especially now that we know she communicated with the outside.

Lori made a big mistake when she reached out to others to help her find her stepfather Alex. Alex is used to danger, working for a company that councils and often frees political prisoners will earn you some enemies. He knew when he went to Mexico earlier this month that he might be walking into a trap. He knew the risks and was willing to take them.
Lori, however, is pure innocence. She thinks she is smart and clever and wily but that is simply the product of too much schooling and too many books. Her mother and sister are strong women but basically useless, and nobody had to sense to warn Lori to leave well enough alone regarding her stepfather. I think, too, that she was lured in by mention of her father Edward. We know he's been dead for years but Lori has never come to terms with it.

At first, G was the perfect solution. He connected with her quickly, as he had a magnetic personality to begin with and also because Lori is so interested in ghosts and ghost hunting. She has convinced herself that she has seen and talked to ghosts, more than you might know, because she has confided in me about it in the past. I don't doubt that she has some tiny bit of heightened intuition or physic ability, but I think more of it is self-fulfilling prophecy than anything else. Personally, I believe the jury is still out on whether or not there is a god or afterlife or whatever, but that's beside the point. Anyway, G was brought in long before the trap was set for Alex, to get close to Lori and be somebody that she would eventually turn to for guidance and advice. We weren't counting on him falling in love with her. He continued to help us but also tried helping Lori find Alex, because he couldn't stand to see her in so much pain. Being a double agent never works out well.

The original idea was to simply feed Lori bits of information about Alex's whereabouts, tuning into her Nancy Drew tendencies, making her feel smart and helpful. She would be given enough false information about Alex's location and safety, and enough warnings to stay away and not contact the authorities, that she would be appeased and not actually try to come after Alex. We were hoping this would buy us some time. Also, the clues and information we threw at her were literary and historical and playful, to make her feel comfortable and feel like she was in her element. However, it was that damned tarot card reading which unveiled a lot more truth than we could have imagined and made her more determined than ever. We also didn't expect her to stumble on the financial stuff. Alex was sloppy. Luckily, she never had time to disclose the details of either the meeting with the financial adviser or the meeting with the fortune teller. G tried to unload a ton of information through the mail to some of Lori's friends, but thanks to my connections at the post office, that was intercepted as well.

Lori's mother doesn't know where Alex and Lori are, but she does know why Alex has been taken. She doesn't like it, but she accepts it. However, she knows she is dealing with some nefarious people who can't be trusted, so she fears for Alex and especially Lori, whose disappearance threw her for a loop. She doesn't want Sylvie to go to London but she can't stop her. It won't hurt for Sylvie to go looking for Lori and Alex, because we are moving both Alex and Lori away to very different and unrelated locations, obliterating our tracks this time. There has been clear communication from above: no more games.

Nobody can underestimate the importance that Alex is not found until certain information is extracted from him. This goes much deeper than Alex's little charity and Lori's little scavenger hunt. Those of us lower down on the totem pole don't even know how deep it goes. We don't even know exactly what information they are trying to extract from Alex, only that it will be extracted at any cost. We do know that our cause is noble, but I'm sure everyone feels that way, even evil people. How does one know when they have crossed that line?

Nobody wants any permanent harm to come to either Alex or Lori, although there are some who abuse their power a little more than others. Lori is strong and I believe that ultimately she will be set free and she will be fine.

more twists and turns. good to see some of our hunches appear to be confirmed in this note - if we can believe the writer.

so alex and lori are both on the move and this seems to suggest the game is about to take a change of direction. doesn't look like the exciting post will be arriving either. if we do get chance to communicate with laura again, perhaps we should be asking for more details on the tarot reading and the financial docs as they seem to have gone to a lot of trouble to stop us seeing that information.

And maybe prompt her about who that old friend might be; maybe she'll remember something if jogged?

0 degrees at the bottom of the post; I know it's Greenwich and all, but I wonder if this is setting up further coordinate-type clues.

Seems like this old friend is part of a larger organization, one that's particularly interested in Alex. Seems like they were just trying to keep Laura interested so she wouldn't get closer... nice; ties in nicely with why the initial clues seemed to fit her so well.

Still think it's strange the Mom isn't more involved; who would just agree to having their husband kidnapped?

Another blog
Quote:

This is BIG, and I'm very excited, because it will hopefully get us close to Lori and Alex. I want to personally thank RandomG, who posted a comment on my last blog entry about Lori's tarot card reading. I was going through Lori's journal and papers looking for any notes she had written about the tarot reading when I stumbled upon a name and phone number that she had scrawled in the margin. Turns out to be a private investigator somebody recommended that Lori talk to. It's a woman who lives here in London and I called her. When I told her who I was she immediately told me to hang up and she would call me back. Within a minute my cell phone rang, she was obviously calling from a different number, and when I answered she told me in a cheerful voice that she hadn't seen me in a long time and wouldn't I like to meet her for supper? Confused and wary, I agreed, and she gave me directions to the restaurant. While we ate she purposefully kept up a cheerful conversation about nonsense: weather and movies and stuff, but as we were leaving she gave me her business card. Written on the back, in very tiny letters, was a message.

I'm going to post the contents of this message in a password protected post. Her closest friends and family members will be able to figure it out.

(and yes, she mentions you-know-who) And the password protected post is titled 'The "Girl" who lived'. Nothing comes to mind at the moment and I'm kind of swamped tonight so good luck.

Nice Random! Was using a "fanfiction" and got gibberish. Can you link us to the proper book in case Sylvie uses it again?

Laughing that Sylvie double encodes her blog then tweets on a compromised twitter accn't: "LORI I AM COMING TO GET YOU!"

Random you've had some great solves! Worshippy I'd love it if you could provide everything about a solve. It really helps my old, slow, brain absorb a little new knowledge. Very Happy Please, still use the spoiler tags, for those who want to do it without any help. Thanks!

Aw, shucks. Thanks, and sure, i'll try to be more descriptive when I post solutions. As for this one,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I admit to owning all of the Harry Potter books. I looked in the first book, the Sorcerer's Stone.(Chapter 1 is named "The Boy Who Lived"). The numbers in the cipher are for the number of each word in the chapter; then take the first letter of that word. The 14th word is "that" so the decrypted text starts with the letter T.

Has anyone told Sylvie the solve?
