Why not? What exactly would happen to a ship that 'crashed' out of the slipstream?

My theory:

Something catastrophic happened to the AI onboard the Apocalypso just as it crashed out of the slipstream, and it would seem that the AI on board it used a latch ditch maneuver to save its core personality. If the Apocalypso had existed simultaneously in two different points in time, the AI would have jumped simultaneously to Earth at two different points in time. With that instant passing and the Apocalypso falling out into the future, the AI would be fractured. Two copies of the same core personality: one Durga and one Melissa.

I have a question, maybe I'm just to keeping up some how; How can Ronni be Durga's Template? That would have to be in Durga's Past... I can understand if it's the Kamal's sister. Especialy because Durga is very interested in him but doesn't know why. But Ronni hasn't been 'brain ninja'd' yet so she can't have been the AI's template for the AI on a ship that has all ready crashed while she was alive right? (seeing as the ship has been in duty for quite some time!?)

Help me out here...

Edit: That's what I missed... S.Princess! Still the point is valid: How could the Sleeping Princess be on a ship in service before she's an AI?

What gets me is this: How does an AI live without its core memory crystal?

In First Strike, Cortana made tons of duplicates (thanks to the Covenant AI she stripped) - each one was exponentially flawed (thanks to the flawed duplication software). With the duplicates up and about, her original self was (crystal and all) inside the Unyielding Hierophant as she and her copies fend off the Covenant AIs. She also made a simple copy of herself for Master Chief temporarily until they reunited.

There's another instance: In The Fall of Reach, Cortana made a "ghost" record of herself into Col. Ackerson's personal-computer pad. It sorta acted like a recon. She used her "ghost" to read and transfer signals through incoming/outgoing messages and information from his personal-computer pad. She even used it as a hacking software - sorta.

Making a "ghost" or creating a copy with a Covenant AI duplication software are the only two known methods for creating an AI ouside the core memory crystal.
