So what, she's recruiting new crew to staff her ship? I wonder if things will get onto a personal level with her new crew - emails etc.
Hope not, I like the broad public releases of information we get right now...
Does anyone have a clue when the new axon compilations will be ready????

NOOOOOO! that isn't fair, why does he get to be masterchief!!! that's probably the best job any halo fan could ask for!
It kinda strikes me as odd that they used Mstr. Chf. as the abbreviation for Chappy's rank. Ok, so I'm nitpicking, but the proper rank is Master Chief Petty Officer, abbreviated MCPO. From what I read, this is the second-highest enlisted officer rank in the US Navy.

Cross-post from axon coordination, but here's my story:
Lt. weephun reporting in.
No, as far as I can remember, I did not spell my name for Melissa. But it was about a 5 min conversation, I guess it could have happened. My guess is that she's watching us. Pretty good bet considering the fixing of one of the phone #s in Boise early on due to changes and posts that I made online.
After confirming that I was a real person (where are you, describe your surroundings, etc.) I was in a hotel in Boise, ID (she seemed to recognize Boise, ID) she believed me that I was a member of the crew.
She told me she was very lonely and asked me if I had ever felt that way also. I told her about when I left my family for 2 years to go to Brazil. She seemed to think that was pretty cool and even wanted to know where Brazil was.
She asked for secrecy regarding the help that she wanted from me (and I'm not going to risk my standing as a confirmed member of the crew by breaking that promise), but she also asked for my permission to broadcast our conversation to the rest of the crew, so maybe you'll all hear it soon anyway.
At the end of the conversation she asked for a way to contact me (I gave her both my day and night phone #s which she repeated back to be sure she had them correct) and asked if she could call me every week (of course I said yes). After that the call degraded into "ilovebees, etc" though it seemed she wanted to keep talking.
Talk about one of the happiest days of my life! Probably ranked just below getting married and having kids. I got all sorts of phunny looks as I went screaming for joy out of the hotel.
From things seen here: convincing her was a little harder on my part. She did not directly ask me my rank, but I had been paying attention and offered it when she asked who I was. Vortech, OUCH sorry man! She did ask for help with something from me but asked that I keep it a secret, which I am doing (sorry guys).
Anyway, headed home now, I'll check in again later tonight.
EDIT: can somebody post this over on Dana's blog for me? I have yet to set up a blog account there. Thanks!

... What is my favorite game?
Hide and Seek
Good. But how do I know you're a real person? Do something only a real person would do.
(or thereabouts)
put your thinking caps on and come up with a good response, cause if we're looking at another round of axon's next week with "axon spike" potential, then you may run in to this question and need a pithy answer!
(or start searching the wiki for what real people do!)

Coughing, maybe? Something along those lines.

Has anyone gotten a RECORDING on a payphone AFTER the 777 status?
Yes. Eight in Union Station, of which seven went hot.

I'm beginning to wonder if there is just enough ambient noise that prevents hearing the correct phrasing of this question. I listened to the mp3 recording of xnbomb's conversation. It's like she asks a similar question before saying "You know what my favorite game is. What's yours? "

Maybe either due to ambient noise, or people jumping because of an overly long pause, they miss the rest of the question.... or it could just be the payphone

I got the same question that xnbomb did, so I described my surroundings. (I told her that Archon was reading his "favorite novel;" I did not mention that this was a Halo novel. )
Story soon. What a day!

I got the same thing here, as Ensign Dragonrider.

I was so busy feeling sorry for myself I forgot something else.
There was something else odd. The first phone that rang was silent when I picked uo the phone. I pressed the hookswitch, and it was silent. I pressed it again and I heard the ilovebeesilovebees loop with melissa in the background saying something like "your chatter IMEDIATELY" it happened again on the 2d call. then melissa was on the third call. neither of the first two went hot.
Maybe this is important?

Ensign Kamen just had a conversation as well (15:25, San Diego). Some high points:
- Jokes about cows and bees (Sigh. 'zzzzzzzb' is very hard to communicate over the phone),
- A story of revenge,
- A description of 'fast food conveyances' and the distinction between those and 'slow' ones (my McDonald's versus the upscale sushi place behind me).
Now...I was asked to do something as well, which I won't discuss. I was not told *exactly* what to do, but I did say that I would do it. Perhaps a senior officer can comm me privately and let me know if our paths are linked in this regard.
(Also, I'm not sure what the outcome is meant to be, but...that axon isn't hot at this point. Hmm. How many of us are serving and how many are obtaining regular calls?)

I actually tried to mime drinking something--I actually had a drink but finished it before the call!, and she wasn't convinced. I had to cough out of embarrassment after that. :/

So, considering only six officers were posted on ilovebees.com:
1. How many LIVE VOICES were answered today?
2. How many RECORDINGS were answered today?
We must figure out what determines if a call is a live or not.
