Actually, I think you're onto something there. When describing the Rake, I always compare him as a sort of opposite to Slenderman. Where Slenderman stalks and terrorizes, The Rake strikes quickly and wastes no time in killing his prey. Where Slenderman appears at least somewhat human, the Rake is utterly alien in appearance. Where some have been reported to be hypnotized and even comforted by Slenderman, the only reaction to the Rake is pure terror.

Two sides of the same monstrous coin

If thats the case then Fuuuuuuuuck. We're all screwed.

Then what of HABIT? More conspiracy-theory-type logic: EvermanHYBRID, HYBRID all capitalized, HABIT is always capitalized as such... HABIT is a hybrid? lol Razz

Evan is a Rake/Human hybrid sent to destroy humanity one Jessa at a time?

Maybe not Evan, but the Fairmount patient EVAN, i.e. HABIT.

Then again, Jeff's diagram hints that HABIT and patient-EVAN are different people, or possibly that HABIT is the connection between patient-EVAN and "trusted'-Evan.

Fun news from SomethingAwful. Poster "Jiro Kage" contacted the reporter in Ohio who wrote the articles on Fairmount Children's Home which are linked on Dr. Corenthal's fake Wikipedia page. The reporter is a real guy who knew a lot about the history of the home, but says he has never heard of Everyman or been contacted by them. He did ask Jiro to send him the links to their YouTube, Twitter, etc so he could play along Smile

Yeah, he was a real nice guy and genuinely interested. He wrote his article a long time ago so he mentioned that he wasn't real sharp on details, but he didn't remember any murder that happened there, contradicting what the forgottenoh site article said. He did say that it was a rather strange place, and that a lot of people call asking about loved ones. I gave him all the pertinent links including a link to the thread here since his readers might find it interesting.

He was going to mention it to a co-worker too who had done a more recent look at the place and it's history.

Wow, that's amazingly cool that a Reporter would be willing to play along with a little horror story on the internet.

This is probably nothing, but I just realised that in the series there are mentions of three cardinal directions. Damsel said she moved north to where she lives now (or lived until Jeff called the police), Jeff twice mentioned going south while looking for Jessa and now we have Linnie heading east. Maybe it's one of the meanings of the EMH logo - four arrows coming from four sides all pointing to one point? And if so, does it mean sooner or later there will be someone else heading west?

Far-fetched. Yes. I know. >.>

Actually that makes a fair bit of sense.

Extremely glad you've given up your lurking ways. That is amazing!

First of all, welcome! Posting makes things much more involved, IMO.

My bet is that someone is going to make a journey to Fairmount. Or maybe there will be another set of coordinates pointing to Fairmount. I hope for the latter- I live close by!

JiroKage- I know that Fairmount was privately owned before the fire and people were arrested for exploring. Did the reporter mention if this is still the case? If not, I'm tempted to go down and poke around... The cemetery is still open for exploration, I believe.

I would be perfect! lol

But on a serious note this user is a miracle to us.

It doesn't seem like they're all converging on one point with their travel (assuming the point is meant to be literal, but it could very well be metaphorical). Jeff's trip south is exactly opposite Damsel's trip north, for example. But that would be a really cool idea regardless.

From the second article that the reporter wrote:

Burned ex-children's home troubled by
trespassers
Tuesday, December 10, 2002

Note the date, so I don't know - but it is realized that people were always checking it out. The guy that owns (rents?) it might still be a guy named Norcom, I have no way to check it out.

HOWEVER, I do think that it would not be worth the risk for you to go there. The divergence between what the story is telling us and the reality of the place is huge, and considering even ohiotrespass posted a message telling people to avoid it due to possible arrests, I think it's best to let them weave the story and avoid physically going here, unless they otherwise give us more information or something to do with it that would warrant going there.

Edit: Since you live close, you could give Edd a call at Canton Repository. He was a really friendly guy, and might be willing to help you out a bit more. He did mention that most of their research on this place was not online but stored in clippings at their building, so you wouldn't find much on the web page.
