Anyone else find Jeff's nonchalant nature... disturbing?

Hey, that's only 4 hours away from where I go to college. Again, I'd go if I were home (and to be honest I would totally go if I had a car), but the public transportation for that kind of a trip is too expensive.

I'm also kind of sad that the 4th box was released so soon, but I'm sure it'll have something fantastically awesome inside.

Interesting in the description that Alex now describes it as a crawl space, not just the back of the closet... crawl spaces usually give you access to the attic, or a space where you can move between rooms behind the walls... creepy...

Actually, he says it's a "craw space", meaning that it's some sort of stomach-type area. Which would be funny, if it weren't so appropriate.

If they did drop the box while they wre shooting in Centralia, which does seem likely, how long might it have been there already? I don't know anything about geocaching, so I have no idea how long you can expect a dropped box to remain undisturbed.

I'm going to talk to a few of my friends tomorrow, see if they're not busy and up to it. If so, maybe I could get out there this weekend (hopefully).

Dude is some sort of bi-polar bear. One second, "NO, IT CAN'T BE THE REAL SLENDERMAN, THAT'S STUPID", the next, "JESSA IS GONE, THROW DAMSEL IN JAIL, LET'S GO DRIVING MILES OUT OF OUR WAY FOR SLIPS OF PAPER WHICH WILL PROBABLY MEAN NOTHING GOOD FOR US! OH, WHAT'S THAT WHITE MONSTER THERE?", and then suddenly, "Oh, it's just a bunch of rats. What'cha gonna do, y'know?"

Kid has issues.

Well... as a geocacher... let me say that depending on how well it's hidden and how trafficked the area is things can stay in place for years. There are geocaches that have been in place in their original forms for 5 years or more. I found one in Harriman State Park in NY last year that had been there since 2002. It was still in its original container with its original log book.

So if they are good hiders I see no reason why it couldn't have been there for several weeks.

Awesome, thanks! Mounds of purple tape might be contrary to hiding best practices, though. Wink

Yeah, geocaches can stay around for years if they're hidden well or even just not very obvious. Good luck!

off-topic: Also, Harriman State Park is awesome. I don't think I've gone geocaching there yet, but it's only about a half hour from me.

Wow. Another box so soon? And I'm glad they've put one father away; makes things seem more inclusive, y'know?

Crap... Embarassed uh, any advice on how to do this in the future, then?

If you are a cacher you should check out my cache GC240F0, Culper Junior it's my attempt at creating an ARG style geocache (as far as the admins would let me anyway.)

To bring it back to topic... do you think that our LoAW suggestions are driving the game at this point? I can almost see them choosing the name with no clear destinations in mind, then letting US figure out where it is supposed to be. We've had Brooklyn, and I'm betting we'll see Centralia soon... Chicago next?

To an extent. Considering all they did at our last suggestion was get attacked by Slendy, I think it might be likely that they're letting us pick locations surrounding the boxes. Add more fan interaction to the game.
I highly doubt anything to come of Chicago though. Unless they have someone who can help them out there. It would be kind of epic though.

Just an observation, but this cache seems particularly out of the way and will probably be an absolute pig to find. It's located, to my estimate, about 90 metres into the woods from the railroad, surrounded by trees. This won't be a cakewalk to find, and I suspect that the reason is that whatever's in there will be big news.

This combined with the fact that it's following up so quickly on something we took to be "big news" is making me more and more excited.

Oh man, I hope someone gets out there soon. Smile
