In the theater people trickled in, and it felt like forever until 7:00pm rolled around. I think, as others have reported, the theater made it to about 1/3 full. The hoodie glowed nicely Smile
...
When the preview finished, someone tried to be funny and made the comment "That's it? That wasn't 20 minutes, that was like 3, tops!" Silence from the crowd... dude, not even close. It was great, people loved it, and it actually did feel as long as a standard 1/2 hour tv show (~23 minutes w/o commercials).
...
I had a couple hours to kill before heading home so hung out with a friend for a while and grabbed a geocache before catching the last bus home at 11:30. Smile Overall, it was a decent day.

I didn't get a chance to say hey, but I was one of the other people wearing the Threadless hoodie too. There was you, another guy and me. I ended up sitting up near the top. Is it me, or is that hoodie extra comfy?

Can't say I heard the dude say that's it; but I did find it interesting how the theatre was quiet afterwards, sorta like a reverence for what was just seen or something. At least that's how I felt.

Didn't get a chance to grab my badge or anything, since I worked until 5 pm uptown, and had to rush downtown. But having a Flynn Lives shirt under that hoodie made me appreciate being in a smaller group of in-the-know people.

Glad you were able to make it bruce. Looking forward to the actual movie here.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Also, really, who keeps an extra lightcycle in their back pocket, for those just in case flipping through the air moments... Actually, I want a lightcycle now ;P

Was at the Riverside, CA Tyler IMAX. Line wasn't that large. Got there about 5:30 Didn't get to bring any of my stuff with me. Saw one guy with a ID Disc on his back, a few tron t-shirts, one or two Encom badges, etc etc...

No standby line was needed. Theater was about 1/2 full if lucky. The AMC rep had to read from a prepared script and in the middle of it, her walkie-talkie went off which drew a laugh from the crowd..... not sure what it was that came over, but still funny.

The IMAX countdown was in your face 3-D and pretty cool. I liked the subtlety of the movie 3D effects. Didn't deter from the experience one bit.

A lot of what they showed, I had seen from other sources, but it was awesome to see the new stuff. Disc wars was my favorite. "So that's how this is played" AWESOME!

100% certain it is "Rectify" & "Games"

I used my $5 coupon to see Red afterwards. Pretty cool movie. Action/comedy shoot-em-up. Definitely recommend.

Can't wait to see what's next for this..... I am seriously thinking about catching the midnight opening of this, even if I do have to work at 8am the next day.

Id have gone to the preview and taken my chances in a line... If the response from the theater wasn't essentially, "No tickie, No watchee!' when I asked them over the phone about standby accomodations.
It took them 5 minutes with me on hold to get that much info.
Disney, please give your temporary partners a bit more detail when setting these things up. It sounds like confusion was the one constant for the events.

How was this figured out from the code on the cards?

It was posted in the thread a few times already, but the 'symbols' are just very stylized letters. Read them downwards and you'll see the url spelled out.

Yeah, these events always seem to have some level of disconnect... in some ways it's unavoidable, but there should at least be some kind of essential memo sent to all volunteers/staff/employees/what have you... to at least have some semblance of what's going on in the greater scheme.

heh, I guess you were the other person I saw with it then - I ran into the other guy on the way out grabbing our phones. Different guy than the one who walked across the front of the theater a couple of times. If you heard anything being yelled about the 'blue team', that was my buddy =) We were sitting 3rd row I think from the main front aisle... had my hood up the whole time.

If you're going to the midnight premiere there we should meet up

You know, at the Montreal showing there was something that they were promo-ing that nobody mentioned yet. There was this big speech by one of the ushers before the showing about these Oakley glasses that were on display.

He said that it was an Oakley/Disney/Tron collaboration and there were 2 types pf glasses, a high end pair of Tron sunglasses (which were nice) and an Oakley/Tron set of 3D glasses, so you could own your own pair of 3D glasses instead of using the theater ones. And if you bought the Oakley 3D glasses, you got a ticket to an exclusive showing of Tron Legacy on the 15th.

There is only 1 store in Montreal that is selling these glasses. They didn't mention the prices.

There is a guy on Tron-Sector that had said they displayed them at SDCC this year and asked if anyone got pictures because he collects Oakley's.

but noone ever posted pics.

IMAX TRON LEGACY
THE SNEAK PEEK.

Went to the DIGITAL PROJECTION of TRON LEGACY at the IMAX Signal Butte Dikinson Theater at Signal Butte and Baseline Roads in Mesa AZ. It was Awesome! Really looking forward to seeing the movie when it comes out in December. The theater was only filled with 20 people even though i can hold 400.

Ah, the $800 Oakley's. Insane price for a pair of sunglasses, but I guess if you're used to paying that much it isn't that big a deal.

Actually I posted them in my photo stream on Flickr.
They're on the right hand portion of the pic.
Here's the pic I got of them:

Yep, those are the ones. If i go back to the theater and if they are still on display all take a few more detailed pics.
That blue squashed octogone type thing that is on the box was also on the side of the glasses.

There was no demo of the 3D Oakley/Tron glasses.

Well that would make more sense, but I honestly don't remember... I'm 40% deaf in one ear normally, and blaring music didn't help. Razz

Were there posters other than the original Tron logo remake? (reaching up to the floating disc) That's what I have 50 of. I know there were 7 others in that pic a few pages ago, but were any of them handed out?

At least to me, those 8 different designs weren't posters, but those ASUS postcards. If you look, the throwback design doesn't say limited edition(collector's edition or whatever the poster says, I'm too lazy to get mine out at the moment) poster.

And, forgot to share this in my other post, but when I got to the Orlando showing there were 5 police officers as someone else already mentioned, which I thought was so overkill. I told my brother that at this rate...I am thinking there are Disney Secret Police agents up in the projection booth protecting the film with M-60s, and he added, and they are probably wearing mickey ear hats. It was a rather amusing thought...or maybe it was just I was dead bored since I didn't think to bring a book or anything *shrugs*.

My brother said I should submit the idea to teefury or woot...but I have to figure out how I suggest a design, as I have NO artist ability. I want to see one as well.
