Ughh, waiting for the box to get uploaded is terrible.

But I don't think they're clue-hoarding. :P

I give up on trying to keep up with the uber amount of pages that accumulate whilst I sleep. Anyways, does anyone else think it'd be relevant to find out what the meanings/stories behind the songs on CYSTW tumblr are? It could give us a HUGE clue. A lot of the time people use music as a way to let someone know how they feel because they can't physically talk about it.

From what I was seeing and listening to last night, I would say the songs and the poems provide massive clues, yes.

Well now, unless there's a very specific reason for me to listen to that right now, it'll have to wait a bit (though, I can't resist anything free). I'm watching the Mighty Boosh.

You know, I'm not doing anything right now. I can start to look through the songs and their meanings.

Well, I'm not too big a fan of ambient music (I like it, but... well, it's ambient), but this may be the best piece of ambient music I ever heard. It's both beautiful and dark, and has a nostalgic feel to it. I listened to it whenever I drove home in the train from a night out. It makes time fly by a LOT faster, and is very easing on the mind.

Also, the new solo-LP by one of Animal Collective's two front-man just came out, and you can listen to it for free in its entirety:

If you do go through it, don't ignore the poems she's posted. They're just as important as the songs.

Sounds like a plan, include the poems too. I'll have a go at some point but at the moment I have a rather moody 15 month old to contend with. As per she's refusing to sleep lol.

EDIT: quick thought, anyone think that her strike throughs are because water is the wrong word for what she's trying to say? It's more than likely been mentioned before. I think we need to look at her tumblr with a more of a psychological approach rather than looking at it and thinking the obvious.

As I'm a huge Decemberists fan- The Mariner's Revenge Song. So there's this pimpish 18-year-old (decribed as "a rake(!) and a roustabout" in the song) who seduces a widow with a three-year-old son. He soon ditches her, leaving them all his gambling debts and the mother with consumption. They loose their house and she soon dies, telling the son to find the man and kill him in a very, very gory way. The son, despite his age, takes it to heart; he spends the next fifteen years on the streets, later taken in by a priory to be the janitor of sorts.

Then, when he's eighteen, he hears the prior talking with a whaler, discussing the captain of a leaving ship who matches the pimpish guy's description perfectly. He goes out to sea on the ship, planning the murder. Twenty months later he's about to kill the guy when the ship is swallowed by a whale, and by some "divine intelligence", the captain and the kid are the only survivors, in the belly of the whale. That's the part where the kid narrates the story/sings the song, and it ends with him presumably killing the captain and then getting digested or something.

....Or you could just look at the lyrics and ignore my stupid rambling.

Good work. I'm going to take a psychological look at her posts. See if I can pick anything up. I've never been taught psychology but it's an interest of mine so I'll do my best lol.

Ah, you're welcome! Looking at the other songs now, maybe Damsel will get my into some new music. I've said it before, but these guys seem to have my music tastes.

And by the way- The Rake's Song is also by The Decemberists. Probably some symbolism there.

Tiny question: has anyone asked EMH what happened after they saw the Rake in the Cops Checked video? Seems like they just shrugged it off.
