....

I demand that you all go find something else to do with your time other than post....

There is suddenly 40 pages worth of stuff too read over and new discussions that I can't keep up with.

That or some other form/thread/something some where needs to be made so people like myself can attempt to keep up with everymanhybrid.... maybe i'd would be better off if I waited till it was over to watch it like marble hornets.

P.S. the comment about you all doing something else is a joke, but it would be nice if there was someway to get updates without the 30-40 post of random theories/jokes/off topic discussion

And if there is something already, please point me in that direction.

Try the EverymanHYBRID wiki. It's at everymanhybrid.wikia.com . It's been mentioned multiple times.

So, adding my two cents to the discussion about the patient-EVAN's first name/last name, I took a look at Corenthal's first report and using the good ol' Photoshop I was able to (more or less) determine three things:

1. The blacked out part covers 7 characters, but the last one must be either a comma or an additional space, because a letter would be too big and it's top would be visible. And while a double space before "EVAN" might be caused by Dr. Corenthal's lack of sleep, there are no double spaces in the rest of the text, so I think that a comma is more likely. That would make it "X, EVAN", meaning that Evan is the patient's first name and it's his last name that's covered. Corenthal's second report seems to support this - I doubt he'd call one of the boys by his first name (Vincent) and the other one by his last name (Evan) in the same sentence.

2. The blacked out word has 6 letters.

3. I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think that the top of the last letter is visible? If I'm not seeing things that aren't there, then it must be either a B, a P or an R, because only those letter have the right shape.

I know it's not much help, but my Photoshop-fu is weak ;/.

The apparent disconnect between Jeff's family and the Evan/Vinnie time-fuck paradox reminds me of the Season 5 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in which a new character was placed, by supernatural means, in the timeline complete with a biography remembered by everyone who was present for the last 4 seasons. Lots of folks hated that, but I thought it was neat, and they played with the emotional toll something like that takes on the people whom it is meant to manipulate. That, coupled with the repeated suggestions IG that logic and reason are severely devalued currency these days, leads me to believe that, if Evan and Vince really are the same as their '71 counterparts, it won't require any bio-stasis or time-travel explanations. Slenderman has fucked reality in the ass and thereby (TADA!) completely transplanted Evan and Vince into a new era, complete with memories and families. Artificial? Sure. The game is made all the crueler thereby.

Easy as that for me.

I think the boys are sort of a pattern. The hero/Slendyness is looping. Essentially, we could still have it 198x in universe, the only thing that keeps it from being 198x is their and our timeframe. I doubt that so many characters are being shot through time, and guess that things are more about sort of a reincarnation.

Hello! Long time lurker (seriously, I've been watching EMH since the first "invisible" video, after binging on Marble Hornets the day before); first time poster. I bloody love this bloody series, although I am rueing the fact that it takes place in the US *shakes fist*

I wouldn't normally jump out of the shadows like this, except that I did notice a song I don't think anyone else has (exciting for me)! Do forgive me if someone mentioned it a hundred pages ago - I have read every single one, but though I'm sure I haven't missed anything, maybe dark forces are messing with my mind...

In "Jeff", there's a song playing around the 1:40 mark. Alex says that it must be Jeff's alarm clock that has gone off. The song that's playing is from the Xbox360 video game Alan Wake, by the fictional band Old Gods of Asgard, and it's called "The Poet and the Muse". The specific bit that's playing starts around 1:57 here. *serious research face*

So, why do we care? Except for the fact that it's a really good song (listen to the end, for reals)? Well, because Alan Wake is a video game about a writer who moves to a small out-of-the-way town to cure his writer's block, but his wife goes missing and horrible dark creatures start stalking him and trying to kill him.

And, spoiler-marked for your convenience because it's a bloody awesome game that if you have an Xbox360 you should absolutely get:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The song is a clue for Alan, as the chorus tells him to "find the lady with the light, gone mad from the night" - who's another character in the game that holds the secret to destroying the darkness. It's probably the most important song in the game. And, yes I know I'm reaching here, but when Jeff seeks out Dr Corenthal, doesn't he go and talk to a lady who's standing with a light behind her, who seems a little scared/unhinged? She's even the same age as the character from Alan Wake.

So. Probably doesn't give us any actual clues as such, but it's a nice little gamer in-joke and hint that Jeff has gone off to find some answers, and (hopefully!) something which I am the first to notice.

There. Great work from everyone else on every other aspect of the game, by the way - you guys knock me (and my browser) out with how quick you are. Very Happy

I do almost wish the series was set in the eighties, so we could have the pieces all fit together perfectly, but for obvious reasons that's not possible.

Although... it does inspire something... you know what might be cool? A series much like the others we've seen, where the main character is going over footage they or someone they know took a while back and finding Slenderman in it, only this footage is actually from a totally different era. For example, a guy going through his parent's things after they died in a mysterious car crash discovers old VHS tapes they made when they were a young couple (or perhaps when he was a baby) and... well, you can imagine where it would go from there.

It also would help eliminate the genre blindness problem suggested in the "what are you sick of?" thread, since the audience could interact with the narrator all they want but there'd be no way of affecting events which happened 20, 30 years in the past. Plus, it would be neat to use some old video stock, have period appropriate costumes... oh man, I wish I had the resources to pull this off, because now I can't get it out of my head.

I'm fond of the theory that it's all mistaken identity - that Vince, Evan and the gang are being tormented simply because of the coincidence of theiir names and Corenthal's patients.

You know, this is probably legit. I'm pretty sure Jeff is an Alan Wake fan.

The Old Gods of Asgard connection in "Jeff" was made a while ago, and while we all enjoyed some rampant speculation, it all seemed to die down after a page or two.
I think the general concensus of our mass guessing was that there must be a "lady with the light" in the plot, and that it was probably Damsel (i.e. Jeff needed Damsel's help to find Jessa). Though your point puts that whole situation in a new light. Also, welcome, now you can NEVER LEAVE

I feel that a lot of these theories are correct...but perhaps in a mixture. I personally stand closest to the reincarnation theory...or simple coincidence, as was pointed out.

I'm not really sure I like the time loss/time travel theories...though they are possible entirely.

The Alan Wake connection is good, and I certainly like that. It does bear similarity in some portions and I would honestly love to see Evan NOT become a homocidal maniac.

Also, welcome Mapes! I just started posting yesterday. *Nods to post count* I am now completely screwed.

guys i really am lost here. whats going on??? candlecove???castlania???WHAT THE HELL DID I MISS?! and who is this damn damsel!!!!

You're not following too closely, are you?

Damsel is the person behind http://canyouseethewords.com/ . At the moment she is in a mental ward because Jeff apparently told the police -something- about her. She knows about the crew and has tools to help...but can't.

Centralia is a possible 'Land of Ashen Waste' and is in the center of all the directions they've gone so far. We've also drawn comparisons that the 'Center' of the EverymanHYBRID logo could represent Centralia.

Candle Cove is a creepypasta/story from the internet of a kid's show that people thought existed...but it actually didn't. Good read, I suggest you look it up.

There you are, all caught up. Try reading back though!

Edit: Well, I caught some things and Grim caught some things. That works!

oh, she's the damsel??? i thought the damsel was wthe dead lady xD i knew about the see the words gal. thanks guys i did miss a few references though, so im glad i have somone ot infrom me

A few pages ago someone mentioned that, with all the speculation, even if the guys did implement time travel, that they're not really worried about it because the guys are sure to have thought it out well.
I really have to agree. It's extremely interesting to read all of these diffferent theories, but I don't know that any of them can be proved yet, and no matter what happens I am sure it will be cool, unless they suddenly begin to suck after almost half a series of awesome.
Also someone was worried about the end of EMH being cheesey, but they've already pulled off a lot that could have been cheesey and I don't think we need to worry about that either.
