Here's the thing I can't wait for...

So I've been reading the interaction thread, and Melissa talks about spies in the Crew and a "rogue process"...

So if the rogue process is the Sleeping Princess...

Where does that leave those of us whom she has mentioned by name?

Oh, yeah... Speaking of people she's mentioned by name...

Gratz Lt. Comm Shad0!

Very Happy

Of course, it could all be a feint. Spread distrust a bit, make us non-puppets suspicious of anything we hear from the crew members in case it's part of some ploy we aren't privvy to.

But you never know, do you?

Well, sure it would have been great to get the call to crew but maybe
there will be a next time.

Well...I think knowing your purpose in life is vitally important, not just for her but for us. But you make a good point, even though I am trying to stay very general...so I edited myself, perhaps you can too. :)

a different opinion

In my opinion, every crewmember that has been assigned a secret task has now become in-game, and open to our spec.

I strongly disagree. These people are still players and not behind the scenes people. If you want to spec about tasks and things that is fine, but the players are not in-game anymore than the people that Dana or the SP has mentioned are in-game.

These people are players not characters and we need to keep that clear, even if the line seems blurry.

I agree with Rose, these people are still in game and trying to figure out the puzzles as much as we are. The whole point of an ARG is to have direct contact with in-Game characters, although I can't have direct contact myself (other than e-mail/blog posts), I'm happy knowing that such trustworthy people as Mazian, Shad0, krystyn, Chappy and all the others are there to recieve and pass on the information.

I hope this clears up some facts about the whole gaming system to those doubting the trustworthyness of the players.

Perks of being a crew member...

Wouldn't it be sweet if the final crew manifest got a mention in the Halo 2 game credits when all is said and done? Worshippy

There's certainly plenty of time to make that type of addition.

The progress of the storyline and the new direct interactivity that we may have gained via the crew has me wondering more and more about tie-ins to the plot of Halo 2 itself...whether we'll either catch an occasional reference to something from ILB's backstory in the game, or better yet, is it conceivable that a community-driven outcome of ILB might make an appearance in the single-player campaign of Halo 2? If it's even, say, just a few lines of cutscene dialog that could be recorded 5 different ways, and then the final version could be dropped in at the last minute based on the "history" that we help create via ILB...that would elevate the game to an even higher level of legendary among fans who have also moonlighted as beekeepers.[/b]

And I strongly disagree with you. Because they have been asked to carry out a portion of the plot that is not known or cannot / should not be shared, that task and how they conduct themselves is very much in-game. They carry with them a piece of the puzzle (at least the ones with secret tasks). They will act a characters (crew members) for the sake of developing the story. So perhaps Chappy is a normal player, but Master Chief Chappy sure is an in-game character, because he/she will be important to the plot. They are / will be "in on it".

I do agree with you that the line is blurry. Sometimes they'll be in-game, sometimes they won't. All the while having the time of their lives!

Well, I for one, believe that Melissa IS indeed referring to the SP as the rogue process, and that since she is acting on Earth Directive or whatever, that SP is not of human origin. But at the same time, we gotta flow with the game, and we gotta help the SP. I'm still with the SP. (If you find me gurgling in a pool of my own blood, then know Melissa got to me and tell my wife and unborn child I love them...)

But I'm with the SP. I think Melissa has proven herself to be a UNSC AI, but a rampant or at least disturbed one... I don't trust her, no matter how cool the transmissions are getting. Wink Methinks we're getting into factions... we'll see if that continues or not, but it's huge now that we have a good lead that the SP is not human.

HOWEVER, if we're using the whole Perdita=SP thing (I'm sorry for tying so many strings together here) then maybe Melissa just doesn't recognize the clockwork nature of a once-human-made AI... maybe she's been repurposed for Covie or Forerunner (is that possible?) reasons... but my point is, I think the SP is looking to be loved and redeemed by human-kind, and that she is redeemable, even if Covenant tech currently. I think she's been snipped and replaced piece by piece and needs our trust, otherwise, she'll fulfill the destiny that the Queen has set for her, and that she will lead them baddies to Earth. (yup, I said "them baddies")

So, whattay'all think of that?

First, from a legal perspective, isn't it true that they can't record people unless they give permission? Or is being involved in an ARG considered consent? I also feel like they couldn't put anyone's name in a game without consent...

I definitely feel that the SP is human made tech, and is trying to resist the Pious Flea (who I feel is from the Covenant). The question is how successful she's been in resisting it. I definitely agree that she's looking to be redeemed... but maybe the ending of Perdita's story shows her concern that we won't be successful.

"I'm reflected, I can't look at myself"... that Durga quote makes me think of Perdita. Personally I like the idea that Durga and Melissa are AIs off the same brain, and maybe one of 'em is the Sleeping Princess and the other is the Queen?

I also feel like Durga may be from Kamal's sister... but that's just me.

For everyone's peace of mind, here's a list of all the known officers (and crew, thanks Aliendial) that Melissa has personally talked to and acknowleged. These are a little out of order, because the ranking is mixed. I'm not sure who ranks whom, so I think this is a rough order in decending order by section (i.e. the chunk with cmdr-ensign is correct, as is the two person list between cpl. and sgt.)

Col. Xnbomb
Mst. Chf. Chappy
Commander MikeWas, Axon Signal Corps
Lt. Comm Shad0
Lt. Weephun
Lt. Adam?
Sgt. Mann-Alive
Corporal Conrad Mazian (E4), Marine Second Squad, Apocalypso
Ensign Krystyn
Ensign Kamen

edit1: I forgot myself!
edit2: Updated rank listing. Should be accurate, but if I'm wrong, pls. let me know.

well, we were told that melissa believes archiving is very important and we are on record as giving permission for our conversation to be "broadcast." i think that covers them.
