I can't believe how unforgiving and brutal some of these Tron "fans" have been with the viewing. I would have loved to have seen a sneak peek at this film, but due to my work schedule and distance to theaters showing the preview I had no real chance of making it.

For those that seem to have a problem with the actors/imagery, take this into account, this is a PREVIEW that does not show the full film in a cohesive narrative. Large amounts of the storytelling have been edited out in order to preserve various aspects of suspense and surprise for when the film officially is released. Characters will be fleshed out to a better degree when they have the advantage of the full length feature to do so.

Case in point, wait until you see the complete film before attacking small details that will develop into something larger and complex over a duration of time.

Having seen the footage I'm a little baffled by the criticism being levelled at the acting - I thought it was totally fine, and that they showed a few performance/dialogue heavy scenes and not 100% flashy FX scenes (although I did love the disc war they showed) was encouraging to me - in one scene Quorra manages to establish herself as a kind of warrior sprite/pixie (something about the way she delivers her lines, there's a kind of childlike innocence to it, even though she could totally kick several asses).

Then there's the scene with Sam/Kevin, which was understated and emotional at the same time. Love it. And I want loads more.

I beg to differ.
That's not the kind of behavior I spent several years of my life in shitholes 'round the world to support.

I don't agree with the original poster's commentary (Admittedly, I didn't see the presentation), but I support what they believe to be their honest assessment of it and would prefer to try and educate them when we do disagree. I can decide for myself whether their comments will affect my desire to see the film (They didn't and I still will.).

"STFU" is just mean and seldom an appropriate response in life.

If the criticism was a little more intelligent, then maybe the response by MovieLord would be unjustified. This was made by a guy that's not even registered on the site. And complaining about the price to get into the movie in the first place is childish. All movie prices are expensive and even more so for 3D and IMAX flicks. I've seen people complaining about this movie all based on trailers and rumors. Even there are idiots saying that the movie's legacy will only be one of sexism. When LOTR's last movie in the trilogy came out, it was only then that I saw cries of racism finally emerge. If you don't want to see the film, fine, then don't. But knowing what we know about this film's history of even getting greenlit was a long and hard road makes me appreciate it even more.

I congratulate your service to our country to protect the freedom of speech that we all share here be it supporting the movie or not. But I agree with MovieLord's response. Short and to the point.

I agree with Rogni, but because of the nature of MovieLord's response - I've been on these boards for a few years now and have noticed that it has its own etiquette that separates it massively from places like the SSH! boards. The veterans here take ARGs seriously, and I think the tone on these boards is meant to reflect that - so it's a little jarring to wander into a thread and see someone post up a demotivational poster of Jean Luc Picard telling someone to GTFO or STFU etc as a knee-jerk reaction to a potential troll.

There are other forums where that kind of behaviour is totally fine, not so much here.

Well, I'm sorry man, but that guy was a troll! What else was I supposed to do?

Ignore them or try entering into a discussion about why they're wrong?

Maybe we need to label this thread as OT to make sure it is kept away from the ARG. This is the first ARG I have done and I am enjoying it immensely especially with the help of those here that are more into this than I am. I was expressing my opinion to movielord's response. As I said, if the poster had an intelligent argument to why one should not see the complete movie, then MovieLord's post would have been uncalled for.

Sadly, that wouldn't have worked. "Jefftron" as he called himself, would've continued bashing something that wasn't even the full movie despite his "attempt" at being "polite" about it. He was being a pompus ass even if he didn't SOUND like one! THAT'S why i replied with that pic: to tell him to knock it off and go away. Unlike that guy, I am a huge fan of the original TRON, and I felt offended about what he was saying about a freaking 23-minute PREVIEW! If he were a registered user, I would've let you guys take care of him. But he wasn't, so there! Ok? No please stop beating me over the head about this!

That's EXACTLY my point! Thank you for backing me up.

Re: tron

Then let's just call it quits and move on - there's a new poster to gaze upon after all.

Fully agreed. My mind is kinda boggled by the "haters" and other supposed "critics" (journalists and non-journalists) way too negativity laced comments.. Some are so way off base that they are kinda funny....

Wow, that's an abbreviated version of the scene. They cut the "you got big...you got...old" line, and I'm pretty sure Quorra's "He didn't expect to see you again" line wasn't there...at least wasn't a voice over.

I hope that's just a preview edit. The longer scene was much better.
