Hey, that's why I chose Ensign. I know she wouldn't expect too much out of the lowest ranking officer on the ship. What with school and work and a boyfriend, I barely have time to sleep. Actually, yesterday was the first time I've been to class in two weeks, so I should probably shut my trap...

Okay, here's a somewhat vague list of known officers and elisted wo/men (I know, darn the PC monster...) that is somewhat in order, except the ensigns are acknowleged lowest rank.

Col. Xnbomb
Mst. Chf. Chappy
Commander MikeWas, Axon Signal Corps
Lt. Comm Shad0
Lt. Weephun
Lt. Adam?
Sgt. Mann-Alive
Corporal Conrad Mazian (E4), Marine Second Squad, Apocalypso
Ensign Krystyn
Ensign Kamen

edit1: I forgot myself!
edit2: Updated rank roster; it should be fairly accurate, but let me know if I'm wrong.

Something like that. I was actually thinking of saying 'Specialist', which is even lower (as I recall), but I didn't want to get too dodgy.

Actually. Ensigns are officers, and are higher than the enlisted folk. Here's the list in the correct order.

Col. Xnbomb (O-6)
Commander MikeWas (O-5)
Mst. Chf. Chappy (E-9)
Lt. Comm Shad0 (O-4)
Lt. Weephun (O-3)
Lt. Adam? (O-3)
Ensign Krystyn (O-1)
Ensign Kamen (O-1)
Sgt. Mann-Alive (E-6)
Corporal Conrad Mazian (E-4)

Ok, there's a proper chain of command. Yes, the MC is enlisted, but he is still up in the chain of command. Its a convuluted thing, and you have to be in the military or have some military experience to understand how it works. Keep in mind that you don't salute anyone with the (E-*) unless they have the Medal of Honor. Blah, I'm going into this too deep.

EDIT: Little tidying.

Laughing

So anyone want to start working out, if and how we know each other?

Also, something to think about, those at higher ranks should probably know their subordinates.... just in case. Wink

That was originally supposed to be the point of this post, but that kind of went haywire. I DO think that we should be in closer contact, though. If anyone wants to start an e-mail chain going, my addy's dianadragonriderSPLATyahoo.com. Please post the subject clearly, though. I'm murder on anything that might be spam.

I tried that, but for some reason it wouldn't do it.

If you decide to YIM me, it's x11tech.

You can also mouseover other people's YIM button under their post and look at the "target=" variable passed in the link. Just extract the name.

I'm not an officer, just wanted to make a quick observation (where 'you' means officers). I also realize a bunch of this is what other people seems to be saying, I just wanted to see if I can make it clearer:

In the success reports, Melissa seems to be asking for stories (as for what makes you not a recording) about loneliness and revenge. Since she needs you to repair her (possibly not anymore), she might be looking for a story of what happened - could be a chance for you to influence the 'history' of the game. Just make sure everyone who should know it does!

You might also want to come up with an explanation of how/why you're all fitting in so well in the early 21st century. This seems to be a slight logical problem.

Finally, it might be worthwhile you to decide who you're loyal to, SP or Melissa, if things get messy. I'd imagine we'd want some on each side for maximum story influence. Of course, in-game, you don't know which side everyone's on... or if Melissa/SP 'finds out' about unfiction, you want a further explanation (keeping track of disloyal crew, convincing Melissa you can be trusted, etc.)

Basically I'm seeing the axon spike development as a way to turn this into an interactive story - at a minimum, I'd bet the secret task Melissa has includes recording parts of future 'history'. Having officers keeps it to a manageable level of interaction for the PMs, but through the forums and other out-of-game interaction, everyone gets a chance to influence where it's going.
