It's their states of mind. I think they've all wanted to kill the Slender man for a while, and now they're getting close to doing it. The bag was Jeff's breaking point when he realized, by means of seeing the blood, that killing Slender Man would be the way to get Jess back. Evan has been brooding since nearly the beginning about the whole thing, and probably feels isolated. Now that Jeff's all riled up he thinks it's time to strike.

Perhaps we'll see what happens soon. It's getting intense.

As for some theories, I wholeheartedly agree with the person who said that Evan is very quick to jump to murdering Slender Man. The Rake might very well be an old foe of his using Evan to try and kill him. His random fits of "insanity" might just be The Rake coming out to say "Hi".

Also in the same vein, Vinny's calm and skeptical demeanor keep telling me that he might be possessed by Slender Man. Through out the series hasn't he been the one to say this is all just a prank? He hardly mentions that this is all the work of the Slender Man. He still doesn't believe, while everyone else does. He also doesn't want to save damsel, maybe because SM knows that will end badly for him and help them out?

Or maybe I'm looking into this too much :d

I've seen this from a couple of other people, so I want to reiterate that there's another possibility, depending on how close they want to hew to real-world rules.

OOG, it's my understanding that it's pretty rare for an involuntary commitment to extend beyond 20 days. They can keep you locked up for that long without a court order, but after that the judges get involved and, for various reasons, they tend to only extend the confinement in really serious cases. Being delusional is generally not in itself serious enough, as long as you don't pose a threat to yourself and others.

Let's assume the EMH crew know this, and are using this. Damsel is confined, forced to resume taking her meds for three weeks, and starts to return to what externally appears to be a relatively stable condition. She never tells her counselors about burning down her house, and--wanting to get out--she claims she's no longer hearing voices or being stalked by a faceless man. At the end of her 20 day evaluation period, the judge decides she's not worth being a burden on the state's already strained psych system.

Beginning her penultimate post, "North or South, nothing changes" suggests that she's been through this once before, and that she knows how it's going to play out. Three weeks of sequestration, forced medication, and prevarication, and then she'll be on her way.

Knowing how the system works, and knowing that she's going to have to hit the road again as soon as she's released, while also knowing that she needs to come clean to her audience, she sets her blog to post the queued message one week after her projected release date--which is when it ended up appearing, assuming her intake was on October 5.

So the point of all this is, I think there's a very good chance that Damsel has been free and in hiding/on the road for the last couple of weeks. Our boys' next task might not be to visit her in the hospital but to start following yet another set of mysterious clues to track her down.
