I think it's more about making us doubt what we're seeing. It's important in that it could be true, but it may be that the stuff we see that they can't is just US hallucinating. I tend to lean more towards it being blocked out memories that we need to help them remember so they can make sense of this. Either way, I hope we get something new soon.
Also:ducks, we have become water fowl. That is the only possible answer to that question.

So can someone explain what happened in the Centralia video? I mean I get that they found Jessa's necklace.

Also, Jeff appears to have a white piece of paper in his left hand, and complains about another puzzle. There is also the footage from Day In The Life/similar hiking outing which may or may not be important.

I'm in the "important" camp, due to the revelation that they found another blood/body bag, with Jessa (or possibly another girl, but not likely) present.

Regarding the bag scene in Centralia: I guess it makes sense that this happened before Joke's Over, since Jeff bails so soon after. But why then do they seem so caught off guard by the bags in Joke's? Slendy mind tricks? I just seriously doubt that the flashback snippets in Centralia are red herrings.

Also, does anyone know where Day In The Life was filmed? For some reason, I'm obsessed with that tree that Evan is reaching into, and if I didn't live in Indiana and have lots of family commitments, I would drive there and hike those trails myself! However, if someone ELSE had some free time and wanted to have a nice hike.... (whistles innocently)

Anyway....I haven't offered a whole lot here and wanted to feel more involved, so that's my two cents. My apologies if I'm beating a dead epileptic tree. Wink

I'm not so sure that the bag scene from centralia is from a day in the life. Jeff and Jessa's clothes are different, and they were filming a hiking video for jokes over anyway...

Anyway you know how Vinnie says he kept getting spammed of pics of bags of dead animals before they filmed jokes over? What if those pics were actually taken by the gang around the scene from the centralia video but then dont remember for some reason?

Dun dun dun...

Idk that would be a pretty neat tie in, although I think it would be a little obscure to bring it up so long after joke's over

In one night of desperate passion as they cowered from the SlenderMan, Vince and Evan gave in to their desires.. The next morning, Evan gave birth to an albino baby that quickly grew and hid in Alex's closet. Now, Evan and Vince aim to quiet it once and for all! >=O ... as soon as they find out it survived.

So, like Twilight, basically?

Also, why does this always happen? The off-topic thread totally exists and is a thing.

I'm'a go ahead and try to veer this bad boy back on course.

Alex isn't long for this world, sadly. The fact that Slendy and Rake/HABIT(?) had a tweet war, I think is going to result in Rake/HABIT offing Alex as a way to try and draw the Hybrids towards him in some way. After all, Slendy did challenge Rake/Habit with a "good luck, they're mine biyatch!"

(and as an aside, I think the reason we haven't seen Rake at all except from afar and from behind is because, as good as they are with the Slendy special effects, they haven't nailed down a solid one for the Rake from the front)

So, why do I keep saying Rake/HABIT? Because, at this point I'm not convinced that the Rake and HABIT are the same thing. The Rake seems to feral. HABIT can communicate. Rake just whispers words, as if they're orders from his master... But even with this notion, it still doesn't explain the "HABITHASBITME" thing. But Alex has only shown claw marks, not bite marks.

Thanks, Keith. I'm still skeptical about the meaning behind the 'bite' part as well. I still stand by them having some apparent 'bite' wounds in the Welcome to the Ark video we discovered.

Not sure where to go about that from there.

As an aside...seriously, guys. I understand you go stircrazy while waiting for new things. I do too. But when I go to work and come home to find 10 pages to go through? Not so awesome. Go to the off-topic thread for insanity. If something cool gets posted? Throw it in this thread.

Just give me less silliness and things with no substance to read? : / I like my proper theory/fact thread sans crazy.

I don't really think HABIT and the Rake are the same thing. I like the theory that HABIT is some sort of formless "virus" that works through memetic transfer. It would tie in really well to the loads of memetic material in the series thus far - lines from songs, books, internet references, and just generally lots of things that act as memes. Doctor Corenthal said that he couldn't get "rabbit or habit" out of his head in his letter about Evan: this line itself is like a meme in the series continuity.

tl;dr I spent way too much time thinking about this, what has my life become?

At this point in the story, the only options for Alex are death, beating the shit our of the Rake, being horribly injured, or fleeing. The first is the most likely and the second is horribly unrealistic.
Now because I don't want Alex to be more injured/dead, I think the last option could be interesting. Jeff and the boys could discover Alex's tapes (cue Jeff getting dramaticly upset/pissy about Alex not telling him), see the Rake, connect it to Cops Checked, and it could lead them closer to the whole Linnie and William thing. Maybe we'll even get another bag (hopefully closer to where I live Wink). I really want them to tie that aspect into the story better. We know it's there, but we don't know the total significance of it.

Hahaha, I've never actually gotten around to reading Snow Crash, but I just bought Cryptonomicon a few days ago.

Regardless, it is pretty silly to be making definite judgments about what HABIT is and what his/its relationship to the Rake is, I'm just throwing out the theory I find the coolest. Smile

KAMEN. NO. QUIT IT.
Don't make me get the newspaper.

@quitthecarnival - I'm on your team. Except I'm not really looking forward to another Jeff hissy fit. Maybe he'll actually be calm about it, and instead of flipping out, will present a helpful solution to Alex's problem. But... that's just wishful thinking. Haha.

;-; But don't you want to hear the part about the Rake being female and attempting to mate with the SlenderMan?
