That said, the VII thing had to tie into Dixie's dream (brix were shat, BTW. Major props to the EMH crew.) ... so are we sure it actually means 7 letters?

Well, holy crap. These are the things I miss at school.

So that confirms that Jeff and probably Damsel (as her real name would've been blacked out on anything) are Corenthal kids, as is Linnie. I thought she might have a link to the guys, but this is bigger than I expected. And if she is the dead girl, it actually makes it very, very sad- but I'm actually starting to suspect that could actually be Rose.

Looking at the suicide note in The Rake's original story, now, and with Corenthal referring to presumably-Damsel as "dearest" and the Linnie in that story also being referred to as it makes me think that the note could have been written by Corenthal, but the thing is that note is from 1964. Maybe the ARK that we've been wondering about is some sort of alternate universe like we've thought, but randomly spits out the people in it through time. If dead girl is Linnie, that could explain why she looked the guy's age; since the Evan letter implied the doctor is really just hiding instead of dead, he could've died in 1964. William and Rose's ages are up in the air, of course, and the boys and presumably-Damsel were spit out around our time. Maybe by "scummed" the doctor means "sucked into the ARK", not died.

Also, major props to the guys for sticking Dixie's VII thing in. I will will myself to have a EMH dream! I want to get trolled too!

What if Damsel is Linnie?

Corenthal moves out of Ohio with Linnie and his wife. They adopt another few kids to mend the holes left by the children who died/disappeared and settle down. Then one day Slendy finds them and kills them- all except Linnie, away at school, who comes home and finds the wreckage. That would tie Damsel in to not only Slendy but Rake, too.

The only hole in this is the doctor's wife, who Jeff talked to- unless she really isn't his wife. Rose?

Yeah, the whole not giving Damsel a name so far has been a great way to add to the mystery that I didn't fully appreciate until this. If Damsel is Linnie, then holy poo, and if not, then she is most likely the blacked out name in the letter, which we wouldn't recognize anyways since we don't have a real name to associate her with. Either way, I bet that there are more letters to come but I think that one was intended for Dixie and was sent first purposefully. Would love to see if cactus can confirm if in OK or not just to see if there is any feet on that one.

If Damsel is Linnie then who is the redacted name? We know it is a female in context of the letter.

ETA: that's a big IF for me BTW, I am on the side of redacted=Damsel

I'm still trying to get my head round the letters. How they can be dated so far back and how the main characters names coincide with the patients names.

It is just totally the bomb that they incorperated dixies nightmare into the game. like holy cow. are other ARGs as awesome as this one? (i am amongst those wishing i'd sent my address as well, ah well...)
The letter is indeed cryptic, i'd like better versions before I say anything, as I like to read the actual text from the actual page.
that was an interesting theory about linnie and rose. they really could be playing out assumptions much more than we thought, i mean wahat if the dead girl was rose? also we still don't know 100% for sure whose bag the bag was.
also no way it si a harry potter thing, lol. thats about as far fetched as the wizard of oz one, except you really cant decide between linnie, rose, or vinnie as harry. obviously.
