 5th November Update

Anna wrote:
Gunpowder, treason and plot
5 November 2010There's a song in the UK that gets sung on this day every year. It's about Guy Fawkes, the man who tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London back in the seventeenth century. The song says that "treason should never be forgot," but I get the feeling that a lot of people have forgotten the meaning of this whole occasion. They think it's a celebration of the man, not a warning to potential rebels.
On this explosive night, fireworks will be going off across Britain. Most people will be celebrating, but I can't help but see a darker significance. The Gunpowder Plot nearly killed hundreds of people. I've seen a few too many narrow escapes recently to celebrate that. It just gives me chills. There's such a fine line between success and disaster.
I'm also unnerved by the way Hawker seems to be leading us so clearly in one direction. Something smells wrong.
Hawker wants you to think that this whole story is a battle of wits, a game to be won. But don't be fooled. He's deadly serious. His update yesterday just shows what a psychotic streak he has in him.
He says that we've lost but this isn't over yet. Visit our secret site today to find out why, or email me at 1234SPLATsecretlewis.com if you need the link. I'll say no more.

Hawker wrote:
My people tell me that the trophy has been buried in the desert, far from Abu Dhabi. Of course, my suspected involvement in the burial could never be proven in a court of law, and as the great British legal system dictates, every man is 'innocent until proven guilty'. So I would like to remind you that I am innocent of any crime. After all, I'm many miles from Abu Dhabi. I am an innocent man.
With the trophy out of the picture, you people have nothing to aim for. I like to make work for idle hands, so here is something for you to do while you stumble around, stunned in defeat.
I want you to solve a little problem for me. I need to replace a work of art with a replica, but my forger has let me down somewhat – he died before he could finish the job.
The artwork consists of two identical cubes. When he died, the forger had created templates for 12 cubes, but only two are identical. Which two?
Send the solution to aqSPLATaqhawkwer.com. You have until midnight, Montreal time. If you succeed, I might see if I can dig up anything useful for you.
Begin.

And a new challenge, to find the identical ccubes can be found here: http://www.aqhawker.com/puzzles/puzzle6/folding_cubes_En.pdf[/quote]

See the relevant sites www.secretlewis.com and www.aqhawker.com, and of course the "secret" site for another up[date....

Here is the answer for the cubes that are identical. Everyone send the answer to aq @ aqhawker.com

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"E" and "L" are the correct ones.

You have two choices today: help Anna or help Hawker. We might have to do both. www.SecretLewis.com

I'm probably going to go with option #3, "do both". If we stop doing Hawker's challenges, he might suspect that Lewis is planning something.

Anna's heist simulator code let me shave 12 seconds off my time. Somehow I am quite certain that Lewis will not find the actual heist so straightforward.

You don't have to register. However I am registered on www.secretlewis.com for email updates and to save my heist simulator scores (www.secretlewis.com/register).

I did this one in 2D, using pen and paper to map out the colour patterns. Smile

Summary: Live event in London, November 10 with *very generous rewards*.
After a suspense filled day the results of the heist are in.
Lewis broke into Hawkers office, but didn't find the trophy.
Fortunately he did find useful evidence against Hawker, and the real trophy location.

Lewis is going in tonight. He's flying in straight from Brazil to get the element of surprise. Hawker thinks we'll follow the ususal pattern of our heists, so he won't be expecting a break-in on a quiet Sunday night.
However, the element of surprise is about all we have in our favour. Our preparations feel inadequate and our information is definitely incomplete.
Hawker has been stringing us along, but was it because of hubris or for some nastier, more vengeful purpose? Are we really one step ahead of him? Have his puzzles just been a way to draw us out into the open?
If you don't hear from Lewis (or, I suppose, from me) again, you will be among the few people in the world who know the true story of why sports star Lewis Hamilton mysteriously disappeared the week before the end of the season. I doubt the authorities will ever dig far enough to discover the truth – Hawker seems capable of stopping even the most determined investigation – so I am entrusting you with keeping this knowledge alive. You are a powerful enough force to seek justice on our behalf. You've proven yourselves to be a potent community, with or without Lewis and me, and I'm grateful for your enormous collective help over the past eight months. Either way, check back here tomorrow.
This may all be premature. It could all end well.
Au revoir.

Hawker has been watching this site for months. He's studied the way we work, anticipating each move and enjoying the advantage of knowing exactly how we'd go about planning our attack.
Last night, we tried to get the jump on him. Hawker claims that the trophy was buried out in the desert, but I can't imagine he'd let go of that symbol so easily. If Hawker loves anything, it's a trophy.
So Lewis decided to break into Hawker's offices in Abu Dhabi anyway. It was the only lead we had, and there was a chance we might find clues or maybe the trophy itself.
No joy. Lewis came away empty-handed, and now we have nothing to go on. But at least he made it out safely. You know how worried I was about this particular heist.
Lewis is gutted, but now might be a good time to call it a day on all this recklessness. It's been fun, but... I've had enough.

Sorry about that. If this plan is going to work, we need hawker to relax. We need him to think we've given up. I'm glad to say we haven't.
Last night, Lewis did indeed break into Hawker's offices. As we suspected, the trophy wasn't there - but Lewis went through Hawker's paperwork and found two important things: documents linking Hawker directly to the Bahrain, Barcelona and Brussels thefts; plus details of where the trophy has been taken. *Hawker didn't bury it in the desert.* I knew he was too greedy to let go of it.
A courier is taking the trophy from Abu Dhabi to London, and you're going to grab it.
Lewis and I are hatching a plan. Go to www.secretlewis.com/london. I've also arranged for some *very generous rewards* if you succeed, so make space in your diary. It's going to be spectacular!

The grand finale

This is your chance to be a hero.

With Lewis in Abu Dhabi, we've had to figure out a way of pulling off one final heist. Fortunately, we have a secret weapon: you.

It's going to be fun, and it's free, but you'll need to register in advance.

First, check your diary and make sure you can be at the Apollo Cinema, Lower Regent Street, London SW1 for 6-8pm on Wednesday 10 November.

If you're available, mail LondonSPLATSecretLewis.com with your name, email address and contact number. You can ask for either one or two tickets, but if you ask for two, make sure you include contact details for both people. Then we'll be in touch.

There are going to be fantastic rewards for everyone who can make it, so clear your schedule.

This is what we've been working towards. It's time for the big finish.

I WON!!!!!!!!

So we started at the Apollo Cinema at about 6:30 when they took us into screen 1.

A man then told us a little bit of what we was about to see. It was a recap video of the past couple of months of Secret Life.

On came a video of Lewis saying sorry he couldn't be there but he was gearing up for the final race on Sunday. Then we were told that there were clues for the safe combination underneath our chairs, (which were very comfy), see picture below.

So we then rushed out of the cinema to find the location of the safe, which was in Kingly Court.

Our tactic was one of us navigated the way there (my uncle) while the other one was working out the combination (me) and trying not to get run over in Regent Street.

After we worked out the code we legged it towards the location of the safe. We got there and were given a number (1) to wait in the front of the queue. Once a few more people were there they let me try the code. Which was 23 - 96 - 42.

I then cracked the safe open, grabbed the contents (trophy & letter from lewis), with a few cheers, interviews and photos (see below) the game come to a close.

The prize was an exclusive training session with Lewis himself. I also got to keep the trophy.

Sorry if the pictures are a bit big.

Here are the final two blog posts. I've had so much fun doing this. Especially the two London events. Yesterday was amazing. Click this link for a little video clip of the day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZKahrolFcc

Anna wrote:
I suppose I should be pleased. It was a victory. You rescued the trophy in London and Lewis managed to find enough incriminating evidence to put Alexander Hawker behind bars (in some jurisdiction or other). We've passed the papers onto the Intelligence Service and they reckon it's an open-and-shut case, even with the phalanx of lawyers that Hawker can afford.

The London plan worked brilliantly and I'm pleased so many of you were able to make it. By all accounts it was fun too.

Lewis is glad to have the trophy back and to have stopped Hawker for good, but this past month has given him a few reasons to rethink things. There's a big difference between pushing the limits under race conditions and out in the real, unpredictable, chaotic, malevolent world. His own home was broken into. He was personally targeted. He got emotional and was willing to break into a building without a real plan. He could have walked into anything in there.

So Lewis is retiring from this whole heist business. It's not worth risking the ultimate penalty - and he says he didn't like the idea of his friends being put at risk, but if he means me by that, he needn't worry. I know how to disappear when necessary.

With Hawker out of the picture, we can be sure that the art world is a safer place than it was at this time last year. There are galleries in Bahrain and Belgium that owe all of you a huge debt of thanks. You will always have Thierry Henry's gratitude. You earned the respect of the Intelligence Service, re-united lovers in Canada, boosted my uncle's musical ambitions, threw mangoes, defied Dobermans, scoured the streets of cities on three continents, and together solved some of the most fiendish mysteries the criminal classes could ever create.

You have achieved greatness.

Now, it's time to quit while we're ahead. It's been an honour to work with you. I'll leave this website here as a record of our achievements, but don't expect to hear from me again anytime soon. I'm going to look for new challenges elsewhere – and so should you. This secret community has shown what power it has to stop corruption and fight for truth, and that's exactly what you should continue to do. Don't wait for a leader. Put your foot down.

Anna wrote:
I don't like emotional goodbyes, and I'm a bit embarrassed about what I wrote here on Sunday. It's not like me to get maudlin. Maybe the emotion and the tension got to me more than I realised, though there was a very, very genuine threat that Lewis might not have escaped alive.

Actually no, I'm not going to apologise for what I wrote. It's what I felt. For the sake of my future survival, I have to remember what that felt like and not dismiss it as an overreaction. It's why I'm happy to see Lewis packing in this whole adventure too. We've pushed our luck far enough, and the heist in London was a fitting way to end it all.

We can go our separate ways now. Lenny has never been happy playing second fiddle to Lewis, so he can finally get on with his life as an individual. He'll grow his hair and put on weight and soon nobody will ever mistake him for Lewis again. I really think he'll be happier.

I can mothball all this kit and disconnect the satellite link-up once and for all. Lewis wants to hold onto the warehouse and use it as a gym, so we can keep the kit in storage there.

I'm not sure what I'll do with myself yet. Lewis has agreed to keep me on until I figure out where I want to be. I just know it will be somewhere safer. An orchestra, perhaps. Or a museum. One of those establishments that has a fine old building that makes you feel like nothing will ever change.

Let's see how long that lasts.

Well done to everyone who took part and helped out since this started Smile

Special thanks to NDreams for making this possible.

Thanks, it was so much fun Smile

When I meet lewis before the season starts next year I'll make sure to film a lot more than I did yesterday. I wont have to worry about the task in hand so much.

It's been fun

I received an envelope from Anna. The postie rode up on his motorcycle and handed it to me in person. Cool
Inside was a signed photo of Lewis Hamilton in one of his heist outfits. Now I just need to find a frame for it so I can hang it on my wall. Very Happy

Thank you to nDreams for providing lots of diversions over the past several months. I'm really going to miss all the Secret Lewis updates.
