Hmmm. Wait.

So if [Continue?] and [Begin.] are telling us to do something- as in, tell the boys what to do next- what should we do? We have:

    * save Alex,
    * save Damsel and possibly Evan,
    * investigate the whole HABIT and Corenthal thing,
    * look for Jessa,
    * or do nothing and see what happens.

I'd think "Save Alex" since he seems to be in immediate danger.

Sixth option- get outside help.

Seventh option-run far and fast.

But how do we do that? Tell Jeff? Or Jessi, since she's the only one talking right now?

I posted this way back, but 1.50 in WTTA. I assume this is slendy, cause It looks like a suit and stuff. Happens just before you see The Rake scuttle away.

If we can assume that the bracketed "directions" are all sent by the same person, do we know that he/she/it is trying to help?

[Enter the tragic hero and his unattainable companion.] was probably predicting the role of at least two characters. Who is the tragic hero, and who is the companion? Who can't "attain" the companion?

[Continue?] was found on the card left at the end of the trail of paper scraps that was once the medical papers Jeff found. The coordinates led to the bag, which contained really significant information.

[Begin.] is in reference to "singing along", and whoever added the text to the video addresses us (or whoever the video was intended for) as "rabbits". Is this person/figure/monster trying to help or taunt us? Both? It is a mystery.

What's the significance of [Begin] appearing twice?

Even if they aren't trying to help us, anything we can learn from them couldn't hurt.

Unless they are created to be deliberately contradicting.. which might make this whole thing unsolveable.

Check me on this.

Slushpops wasn't a hidden video, right? They uploaded it, i can't remember if they gave us a reason why. We saw the first half of the first coordinates... and then the TRAGIC HERO text and rake breathing...

This makes me want to say that whoever edited that in was one of our boys.. It doesn't feel the same way that flash of alex in 'jeff' did- no stuttering, its tossed at the end like credits or an afterthought...

but if it's the same source.. that would mean all of the hidden videos (and the card left for alex).. are from one of our boys.

The habit possession theory is winning me over.

wait.. is alex, perhaps are tragic hero? the goodnatured kid who is fatally in denial?

Oh, wow. I think you might be onto something. I don't think it's Alex, though. I just went back and watched the video on Youtube, and I thought to check the video info to see if there was any reason given for why they uploaded it:

Quote:
While throwing around Ideas Vin had a good idea to get food, that's when we found the strangest birthday card for him uploaded for the lolz and to give a sneak peak at future videos with meditation. -Evan

EDIT: I'm amazed that Evan took the time to use a computer, let alone edit our video info. -Jeff

See that? Not only did Evan upload this video ("for the lolz"), but Jeff went out of his way to lampshade how unusual and out of character it was for him to have done so.

Evan would presumably also have access to the Twitter account, and the newest video suggests that, like 1971Evan, EMHEvan has spent some time in a psych facility.

Oh, wow. I didn't remember that it was that video that Evan uploaded. That seems really important.

Wait! Waitwaitwaitwait!

One of the songs Damsel posted- I forget which, I'll check later- was about the narrator visiting another character in a mental ward.

Evan?

Who is the tragic hero?

Well, to my mind putting the "enter" direction there suggests the he or she is a character that had not previously been part of the story.

On another track, a tragic hero is a character that is undone by his own work. If we want to be real sticklers, the most tragic hero is someone undone by acts he believes to be (at least arguably) virtuous. Like, say, taking on the responsibility of raising a handful of deeply troubled children.

If it's Corenthal leaving the boxes, "Slushpops" would have been the video introducing his presence to the series. We can also see from the latest letter that he was brought down by his taking responsibility for the Baby Hybrids.

And (speculating on speculation) if it's HABIT leaving the hidden videos and editing "Slushpops", his [ENTER THE TRAGIC HERO] could be his way of mocking the man who tried to drive him out of his host. Or, possibly, Corenthal is trying to reunite with HABIT, and HABIT (the unattainable companion here) is saying "ain't gonna happen".

This one? It doesn't seem relevant to any specific character, but the line about the camera is interesting.

Some people would probably disagree with me, but I still think Evan is the Tragic Hero as some people have speculated previously. Like Mattwan said, a tragic hero is one undone by actions he perceives as virtuous. As we've seen so far, Evan is becoming obsessed with the idea of killing Slenderman, which if he managed to do so would be pretty heroic indeed. Not to mention his defensive behavior whenever the guys talk smack about Damsel.

In my mind, at least, I think Evan sees himself in this as the White Knight trying to save the Damsel in Distress and slay the Dragon. Except for the fact that the Dragon in this story is an invincible, horrifying Eldritch abomination and the Hero and his Damsel both have serious mental issues.

You know, I could totally buy this. Excellent idea!

Yeah. I don't really like Jeff as the "tragic hero", but I don't know if I like any of the guys in that role.

Maybe Corenthal?
